章節 39: Someone lied
The journey back to the station was filled with anxiety for Haley. She wondered who exactly could be in the station right now as a suspect for her abduction. She was so far in her thinking that she didn't even notice Eric and Brain were giving her feedback from their investigation in the mall. Eric was the one on the wheels of the car as she was not in the right frame of mind to drive at the moment.
She was just busy trying to reach Pedro on the phone and on each occassion was met with no response. The fact there was no connection at all made her very worried that he could really be in danger or could have been arrested.
"Maam you seem lost. What is happening? Brain summoned courage to ask her with a worried look on his face. He even had to tap her softly on the shoulder to get her attention
Haley looked at Brain with a confused look on her face. She knew he asked a question but didn't hear it properly.
"What did you say? Haley asked trying in vain to hide her confusion
"We are both worried that you are going through a lot. We have been giving you our report so far and there have been no response from you " Eric replied her
She looked at them and shakes her head gentily. She doesn't know if she should trust them now with the secret she carries or she should keep it to herself. If at all there will be any weakness to her it would be base on the peoole she shared her secret with and that was what was scaring her. The only person she could share such things with was klinsmann but if he could turn swiftly against her because of a promise of promotion then she was scared she will have to hold this burden to herself..
"Don't worry I will be fine. Let's get to the station first" she replied as she was more focused on getting to see the suspect first.
Immediately she got to the station she headed straight inside to see what reality awaits her.
"You are here, please let me usher you in" klinsmann exclaimed the moment he saw her work in with a smile on his face. He even made a gesture to hug her
Haley immediately felt her stomach turn when she saw him in that state. He was totally happy like ha just cracked a big case
"Let me see the suspect you have " she demanded immediately ignoring his attempt to hug her.
"Oh straight to business okay then " Klinsmann said with a note of disappointment in his voice as he led her to the room where he was kept.
Haley came face to face with a timid looking man that was almost the same size as Pedro. The major difference was that this was a black man with dreadlocks. He had this look on his face that Haley was not able to interpret immediately.
"Is this the man? Haley asked with a form of relief in her voice.
"Yes he is, I have solved my case and I getting promoted before you" Klinsmann laughed into her face provoking her but she kept her cool.
This was a tricky situation before her and she would need to apply wisdom in her interrogation to ensure no one knows she already know her abductor.
"Or was it possible that Pedro lied to her? Or is Klimmann trying to run a fast one on her.? She asked herself as she took a good look at the man who till this moment avoided eye contact with her
