66% Asher's Destiny / Chapter 33: 033 | Hooded Figure

章節 33: 033 | Hooded Figure

I knew it. Her true origins are from a different world.

"...Just like me."

I felt the pressure all over my body loosen. When Lisha spoke, her voice wasn't as eerie as before.

"P-pardon?"

"You and I. It seems we were both sent here from different worlds."

The grip on my throat disappeared. I was no longer being pushed against my barrier and I landed back on the ground. Lisha's pink eyes stared into mine.

"Was it Alpha who came to you as well?"

I chuckled and nodded, "He's quite annoying, don't you think?"

The pressure around us disappeared. The ground seemed to have sunk a bit into the platform of the tower. With just her presence, she was able to pull her very surroundings down with her.

She laughed wholeheartedly, her eyes reverted back into the pair of blue eyes that I was used to.

"He is SO annoying! God, I can't believe that piece of sh*t walked into my castle and took on my attacks like nothing. Tch, I never want to see that ugly pile of crap ever again."

I grinned, "You're still quite profane, aren't you?"

"I'm surprised you're still...you. How did you end up in this world?"

"I was inevitably betrayed and sent here by Alpha. You?"

"It appears we're the same in that regard. One of my closest friends was actually a traitor all along. Pitting the entire world against me. Even when I offered to surrender, none would take my word. Whatever, the past is in the past."

Lisha looked at me and her face reddened a bit. She looked away and asked a question.

"S-say, how strong ARE you? Even though I'm heavily weakened, I was still the strongest in my old world."

"Looks like we're similar in more ways than one, Miss Demon Queen."

"Please, just refer to me as Lisha. The previous world I once knew is no more. I knew you were quite a dependable person, but to think that you and I were both hailed as the strongest, how very intriguing."

"What are your goals in this life?"

"Get as strong as I was before."

"And after that?"

"..."

"Lisha?"

"I don't know, Asher. The damn Overseer told me that I'll meet you and that you will lead me through a life that I never got to experience."

I sighed.

"What's wrong?"

"Looks like Alpha expected me to show you a good time. Though, neither of us had ever experienced anything close to a normal life. Both of us were constantly fighting."

"Seems so. I don't know what to do. That's why I merely followed you guys."

I nodded. That's understandable. It makes sense that you follow others when you yourself don't know what to do next.

I offered Lisha my hand.

"Then, Lisha, will you continue to be with me so that I can attempt to show both of us what Alpha desired?"

Her face reddened. She has a fever even with time stopped?

Lisha nodded a few times, "Of course. Encountering you wasn't a bad thing at all. I was just on edge because you were so oddly trustworthy but powerful at the same time."

"I get it. I would have been suspicious if I were you as well."

The next thing she said was quieter. Almost as if she whispered it.

"W-well, I hope we get along even better than before."

"What?"

"Nothing! Let's get going now."

I agreed. I stopped my Time Spell and retracted the barrier. Rudif suddenly crashed down on the two of us.

"G-get off!"

"Mutt, get off of us. You're squishing me and Lisha."

Rudif hopped off quickly, "S-sorry! I didn't think the barrier would close so fast. I thought of taking a nap on top of it."

"Strange place for a nap, mutt."

"Anyways, what were you and Lisha doing? You guys were just standing still as if time stopped for you guys."

"Time did stop, mutt."

Rudif's jaw dropped.

"We just had to talk about something in private, Rudif," Lisha explains.

"I-I see...Alright then~"

Rudif smirked and winked at me.

What is this mutt doing?

* * *

We returned back to the AU and the three of us, along with the rabbit, were in our room. Rudif and I took that time to tell Lisha our story.

Me and Rudif took turns explaining all the things that happened during our time together with Patricia, Rowan, and Calamno.

"No wonder you got so strong! You had eight years dedicated to learning and training! You even met one of The Twelve Duke's!"

Rudif acted smug, "Of course. It's to be expected of me to be strong. I'm a Half-Beast!"

Yeah, you sure are, mutt. You're also Half-Transportation too once you know how to transform into a giant wolf. One can only dream...but we'll cross that bridge when we get there.

"Right...Lisha are you thinking of telling Rudif?"

Her eyes widened as if I just reminded her of something.

"Right!"

She looked over to Rudif.

"Hey, so um, Rudif?"

"Yeah? What's up?"

"There's something that I have to tell you about."

"What is it? Why's Asher looking at me like that?"

Poor mutt can't figure it out. Sometime during the 8 years, I spent with him, I told him of my real origins and asked him to keep it a secret. He was pretty surprised at first but he eventually accepted it.

I never really got the chance to mention it but I guess there's no time like now. It's relevant to some degree.

Lisha continued.

"Rudif. Just like Asher, I'm-"

"Madly in love with me?"

What?

Just like me, Lisha was also utterly dumbfounded. She raised an eyebrow and looked at Rudif.

"What the f*ck?"

"O-oh- I guess not?"

Rudif itched his head. That dumb mutt.

"Rudif. Would you believe me if I told you that I'm from another world? Just like Asher?"

Rudif looked at us.

"Yeah sure, why not?"

"T-that easily?"

"Well I mean, you're no normal human girl. I could smell it from you when we first met."

Lisha had a grossed-out look.

"Ew."

Frantically, Rudif shook his head to avoid a misunderstanding.

"N-no! It's just something Half-Beasts have. Like another sixth sense. Or a third eye."

She raised an eyebrow, questioning his analogy.

"A third eye...for your sense of smell?"

Rudif sighed.

"I believe you. And Asher isn't saying anything so it must be true."

I smiled and nodded my head.

"Mutt, how do you feel to have two people from different worlds with you?"

The mutt crossed his arms and reclined backward.

"Hmm."

"And for your information, Lisha and I were the strongest on both our respective worlds."

"Well, that makes it easier then."

"Don't rely on Lisha too much, her body can't handle the techniques she used to use in her past life."

Lisha let out a small gasp of surprise.

"You noticed?"

"From examining your movements, it was quite obvious despite how hard you tried to hide it."

"F*ck. I guess I can't stop this flimsy little girl's body from shaking."

She's right. When she used her strange powers to push me against my own barrier and hold me up, her arm was trembling. It must have taken quite a toll on her body just to mimic a fraction of her power.

"Is it a psychic ability?"

"Psychic? Well, depends on how you view it."

Rudif butted in, "W-what are you guys talking about? What ability? Am I missing something here?"

"I used Time Magic enclosed in a barrier to talk with Lisha. Let's just say our conversation got pretty heated."

"Heated, huh?", Rudif smirked.

Lisha's fever started kicking in. Rudif gave me a wink.

Honestly, this mutt should be grateful I'm not using him as a punching bag every night.

* * *

It's a chilling and devastating night as my eyes start to water up and tears flow down my cheeks. I feel smaller than I usually am. Despite being 27 years old, I've already reached the peak of my height. Merely 160 centimeters tall, mostly due to malnutrition during my adolescence. Furthermore, I have a slender frame.

I'm usually wearing the average Scouts uniform. Not much to say about it as everything is black. The uniform consists of tight black clothing and a black hooded cloak. Optimized for speed and agility.

"As scouts, we are not the most suitable to be on the frontlines. We...We are...only for gathering information and...quickly dealing with..."

I winced and looked away, trying my hardest not to drench myself in tears.

In the forest nearest to Yanalia, lies a wooden fortress for use by the scouts. Populated by many of my cherished companions. Yet...

"Tsk. You guys...are so pathetic..."

The wind bellowed loudly and blew my hood off. My long cyan hair tied into a ponytail followed the wind like a raised flag on a ship.

Littered in front of me were the bodies of my scouts. My dark blue eyes were truly like water under the glistening moon that looked so condescending as it rose high above the trees.

"Are you mocking me?!"

Sobbing, I walked into the fortress. Walls were broken and shattered. Some bodies were not even traceable to who they belonged to.

"I received a message to show up here! Who the hell dares to do this?!"

No one answered my questions except for the sound of wind passing by. I never show a weak side to my underlings, I have to be a good role model, I have to show them the way, and I always have to be there for them.

"But...who's going to be here...for me?"

I heard a faint sound of footsteps coming from somewhere behind me. I dashed outside and unsheathed my two daggers that were hidden behind my back and under my cloak.

"Show yourself!"

A black fog filled the air within seconds and a dark silhouette appeared from the fog. It was a dark hooded figure wielding a scythe with a pitch-black handle and blade.

Their voice was croaky as if they just woke up from a thousand-year nap.

"Human. You have come."

The figure took small steps closer to me and dragged his scythe along the hard dirt floor. The eerie screeching noise that came from it made my body shiver.

"You...are not living. Not a single breath of air comes from you."

The hooded figure took their hood off. I was face to face with a pitch-black skeleton. Unlike typical humanoid skulls, he had fanged fingers, teeth, and toes.

I glanced at his chest and ribcage which seemed sturdier and more reinforced. Sharp, even. His skeletal system must have reformed itself to make it stronger.

His eye sockets lit up with blue flames.

"I am the 433rd Reincarnation of the Grim Reaper. You, human, will die a painful death and be sacrificed for my lord!"
