章節 19: 19. it's between you and us(part 1)
I with Subaru and uncle Withward was inside the carriage we had used to go to the imperial academy and now we were taking that same carriage back home,I was on the right side of the carriage resting my head on the window when I spotted a very familiar face from afar
"isn't that....."
I looked more closely to make sure I wasn't wrong
"aunty Layla? Aunty Layla!!!"
upon realizing it was aunt Layla I shouted in joy , Subaru upon hearing me began poking his head out from the side of 'my window' which in doing so made me feel so uncomfortable
"I need some room bro"
I said using my hand to shift Subaru away
"oh sorry,but where's aunt Layla? I don't see her"
Subaru asked after sitting back down ,I was about to give him a reply when uncle Withward said
"don't worry Subaru,we are about to meet her"
after saying that uncle Withward whipped the horse twice and it took a U turn back to where we had just passed,after a few seconds we were in the location I last saw aunt Layla , but for some reason I could no longer see her
then out of no where I saw her face poking straight at me
"woah!!" I said in surprise
|...how did she get here so fast?...|
I thought as she surprisingly vanished out of thin air
,I was still deep in thought when Subaru said with a sparking smile and a soothing voice
"welcome back aunt Layla"
|... well one thing is certain, Subaru won't have the guts to greet her if he knew the trouble he put us in....|
I thought to myself while waiting for aunt Layla's reaction but surprisingly she wasn't angry rather she even looked more happier than when she left
"nice to be back Subaru"
aunt Layla said as she went to the coachman sit to meet with uncle Withward,I couldn't hear what they were saying but from the looks of things most of it seemed to be aunt Layla flirting with uncle Withward but at the last moment they both put on serious faces and after their short conversation Aunt Layla came to the back to sit down with Subaru and me , moments later before we started moving again,I felt a bit of weight may have joined up with the carriage but when I brought it up both aunt Layla and uncle Withward said I shouldn't think much about it,after that we began moving again, but one thing still remains on my mind, which is,
whatever happened to the people who attacked us.
3½ hours later:
"sigh 😔,we've finally made it "
I got off the carriage and began to stretch,it was a long journey and all throughout that journey one could say my movements were limited and because of that my joints are feeling tensed up here and there and that's why I am doing a stretching exercise right now.
Subaru got off the carriage without saying a word and walked straight into the mansion
i didn't want to be left alone with aunt Layla and uncle Withward so I followed him but surprisingly,all this time I never once looked back to check out the carriage, little did I know that if I had, I would have found the answer to my question and clear the suspicions that was buzzling in my head during the journey,but it had been a long day so I decided it's best I just go to bed and take a nap,
I thought as I ran towards the Manson's front door.
Uncle Withward's Pov:
"we've finally made it"
I took out my eyeglass inorder to clean it and then wore it back,as I gazed at the mansion,few seconds later I heard a loud voice yelling my name
"Sir Withward.....!!!"
the voice became louder and louder and it seemed the person who was calling out to me happened to be from the mansion. After my name had been drawn for about 3 second , a dark figure jumped out from the mansion and that figure was running closer and closer to me and soon after I was able to see who that figure actually was,and to my surprise it was Lia, and at about this time she was already few feet away from me spreading her arms wide as she came closer and closer but before she could do anything rash she was stopped in her tracks by none other than her sister ,Layla
"knock it off"
Layla said with an annoyed look as she used one of her hand to hold Lia back
"please just stop"
Lia said as she stopped running and faced her sister
"you've been with sir Withward for the past who knows how many hours ,now just for me to welcome him, your stopping me?"
she asked as she removed her arm from Layla's grip
|... sometimes this Ladies talk as if i am not with them...|
I thought as I looked at their little bickering or would I say quarrel.
"we both know you have something else in your mind you want to do ,and besides we've got more important matters to talk about"
Layla said as she pointed towards the direction of our rather 'unexpected guest' or should I say expected since we prepared ahead?
well,I thought to myself,,but no matter what I may call it,the outcome still remains the same which is
"we have to inform the mistresses"
Lia understanding the situation immediately formed a big cargo that was made with plants with her magic and placed our guests on it,then she snapped her finger and as soon as she did,the cargo began moving on its own, I put my hands into my pocket and walked straight into the mansion's door , opening it and walking in ,as Layla and Lia followed suite.
The brown hair girl's POV:
"ugh"
I opened up my eyes after waking up from a really long nap,
"owww"
I groaned in pain as I felt a slight pain on my back ,I tried reaching out to it but for some reason my hands wouldn't do what I want,it was only for about a few seconds that was truly able to get a clear picture of my situation,I had been tied to chair , looking around I seem to be in an underground prison with little to no light ,I couldn't tell if it was daytime or night,last thing I remember was falling asleep on 'Big sis' Layla's back, and now I am here,I tried turning on my enchantments but no good I was completely drained of any mana I could use to cast my spells ,I tried using the fingers of my hands which were tied behind my back to loosen the nut when suddenly I heard the sound of a door being being unlocked and what seemed to be the footsteps of people descending a staircase
"you sure she's the leader?"
the first voice asked and it sounded like a female's
"yes,she was the most skilled and most strategic in the group,even if she isn't the leader she must be a key asset to their plans"
the second voice said in response to the question that was asked,I had a few guesses of who the second voice belongs to but I had no clue about the first ,soon enough they were both right Infront of me,well just a few meters away that is, the reason being that they hadn't yet opened the door to my cell which they did only a few seconds later,they walked up closed to me and then one of them asked me a very simple question
"who sent you?"
the one who asked that was a woman who seemed to be in her early thirties,she has red hair and blue eyes while the person beside her was none other than Big sis Lia
I kept on staring at both of them intentionally ignoring the question which was directly pointed at me and staring at Lia who seemed to not be a bit disturbed by my action
"hmmm,I guess you may not have heard me the first time,so I'll be discrete"
the lady with red hair said as she came closer to my face and just a few millimeters away she stopped and said
"on whose authority were you sent to attack us? is it one of the elites?"
upon hearing the rephrase if her question I became a little bit shocked but I didn't show it,shocked that they already had the much information but as long as I don't talk it should be alright,
I thought, still keeping a stable face
"if you want I can help make her talk"
Lia offered looking at me ,I for one knew exactly what she meant,and seeing that she kept a straight face while saying it ,I knew she meant business....but surprisingly
"no,torture wasn't my father's way and as I always say it would never be mine"
she said and then sighed
"so what then must we do inorder for her to talk?"
Lia asked looking at me with a straight face
"hmmmm, let's see"
the lady the with the red hair kept on thinking on what should be done to me,but I for one knew that no matter what ever may happen I won't talk
"I know"
she said finally reaching a conclusion
"let's just leave her"
"what!!!"
after the lady had said that leaving me and Lia in shock she walked away from the room
both me and Lia replied
"😔 sigh, I would love to argue but you are the boss"
Lia said and turned back following t
the lady's back but when she reached a particular distance,after the lady with the red hair had left the room,she turned back to me and said
"see,I don't know what your problem is,or what your sad childhood was like,I don't even care if you go out and pick on other homes ,that ain't my thing but one thing you would do that may get me pissed off is when you hurt the ones I am close to,also don't try escaping because the rope I tied you with is special,I made it myself, that's why it's made out of vines,it was made in such a way that it was meant for captives who were almost mana depleted,this rope is infused with mana , therefore if they seem to be running out of mana,i.e about to die ,the rope gives a little of it's own but if the captive is trying to get away or escape the rope would absorbed enough mana to make the opponent at least strong enough to still be alive,so don't try using your magic cause your mana would be drained, it's for your own good"after saying that she walked away.
"sigh, it's been a long time since I last got caught"
I said to myself
"a really long time"
from the way she talked I knew she wasn't lying about the ropes so what else can I do except from escaping,simple to get some rest
so after counting some numbers of sheeps I easily saw myself sleeping
Lia's Pov:
I was standing outside the room in which we held the young girl,in a way it was more or less a prison in a basement but we don't give it a specific name,I have talked to mistress Rachel about torturing the girl to get info but she wasn't up for it
"she said,the young girl doesn't look like the one to rat out when being tortured"
well that's because she hasn't had a taste of my torture,
I kept on standing right outside the room in which we held her inorder to keep watch but I began hearing a loud sound,one that seemed someone was about to release something big from their mouth
I quickly activated my magic and jumped right into the room but to my surprise it was just the prisoner snoring
"🤭"
I chuckled a bit upon seeing her sleeping so peacefully even in such a dire looking situation,u could only envy her approach to life,
the rope in which I used to tie her did verify she was asleep, but she was sweating profusely
wait,is she having a bad dream?
|...sigh, I would really like to go meet uncle Withward right about now,or just go talk to Layla about her day but someone has to keep a eye on her....|
I thought as I quietly sat down folded my arms and slept,even i needed some rest,and this way I should be able to detect if someone would come to save her but I highly doubt it, I then held her hand and as soon as I did her nerves seemed to have relaxed a bit,
I would hurt if word got out of what I am doing,but don't worry
"it's between you and me"
after saying that I quietly went to sleep.
"more like between you and us"
Rachel said while using what may had been a bad use of English , standing just outside the room,but just a few minutes ago she wasn't there ,when she saw what was happening in the room she smiled and went back towards the main mansion.
