Both Marcus and Xiao Mei stayed cooperative through the whole time they wanted something. Marcus knew that they have to show them that they are not dangerous, and if he wants them to let them go he need to show some goodwill as well, that's why he was willing to talk about his abilities. But he won't go into details how he got them.
When they finished all of their tests, they separated Marcus and Xiao Mei and put them back to their holding cells. And after waiting for an hour, the door to the cell opened. Two soldiers walked in.
"Let's go." said one of them. Following the men in front of him, Marcus was looking around. Many people were watching him walk; he wondered why?
When they arrived at their destination, Marcus was put in a room with a table and three chairs.
Admiral Kong decided that it was time for them to question the two. And based on all of the information he suspected that the girl was the leader so he would naturally question the man first. If he can get some information from the subordinate first, it will be easier to question the leader later.
The man, Marcus was in the interrogation room, looking through a camera in the room he saw him walking around aimlessly.
"Professor Johnson, you want to talk with them, right? If you do I will be questioning one of the now, come if you want to join."
"Yes! Yes, I want!"
Marcus saw the doors to the room open, and two men, one in his forties and one in his sixties walked it. The older one looked like a wreck as if he could collapse any second.
"Hello. You wanted to talk with us, have a sit, and we can talk." Following what the man said Marcus sited down on one of the chairs.
"I'm Admiral James Kong, and this is Professor Rick Johnson." Admiral Kong was trying to approach the man carefully, but his closed eyes were freaking him out. Imagining the pitch black eyes sent shivers down his spine.
"I'm Marcus; it is nice to talk with someone here finally." Marcus was trying to keep a friendly tone; he wanted to make a good impression.
"Yes, it is nice to talk with you as well finally, but before that, Professor Johnson and I have a few questions, so if you can answer them honestly it would be for the best." Admiral Kong has to be nice to him; he wants to build trust between them so that Marcus will talk more willingly.
"Ask away."
"Let's start with what is your full name?"
"Marcus. The clan my mother was born in didn't allow her to give me the clan surname. My mother run off and married a foreign man, and he died before I was born. When she returned to the clan, she wanted to give me the clan surname, but the elders didn't allow that. This was one of the very few things she told me before she died." Remembering the time he spent with his mother, for a second he felt sad, but remembering his mother made him remember the Hidden Dragon Clan, and sadness was drowned in hatred.
But he forced those emotions down, not letting them surface. Marcus knows that if he allows those emotions to take over, it will 'Kill' him. He would be drowned in hatred and anger, and that would not lead to anything good.
"I'm sorry to hear that. Let's leave that topic behind for now. When we found you, you were on an island, can you tell me how you got there?"
"Well, it's a long story, so bear with me." after narrating about the exam from the academy, the bandits and the gate and the youth more than five minutes went by. "And that's how we got on the island" finishing his story Marcus smiled.
"So you didn't come here via a gate but a space vortex?" For the first time since he entered Professor Johnson spoke. In all honesty, he didn't believe the story that Marcus just told, but the part with a space vortex caught his attention.
"Yes, a space vortex sucked us in after the gate that the Youth used exploded, and it transported us to this dimension."
A space vortex? A gate? Explosion. It sounds plausible. And it would fit the irregularities he found in the data. A gate and a space vortex would give very similar readings, but a space vortex would be slightly more chaotic.
But this means that the two are from another dimension!
"Was there anyone else that went through that space vortex with the two of you?" Ignoring Professor Johnson that was now lost in thoughts, Admiral Kong continued to question Marcus.
"I saw the youth go through the gate before it exploded, so no."
"Is there any way for someone to open a gate to this dimension from your world?"
"It's possible, but they would need to know the coordinates to this dimension, so it's very unlikely. We will have to build a gate to go back."
"Wait! You know how to build a gate to another dimension?!" Suddenly Professor Johnson shouted in shock. His hands slammed the table and the chair he was sitting on fell over and started to float.
"Well… Yes. It will be more difficult since there is no QI in the air here, but that will be the fastest option for us to get back."
Professor Johnson's mouth opened wide in shock, seeing this Admiral Kong stood up and grabbed his arm and took him outside without saying a word. Outside Professor Johnson was finally able to recover from it. The shock was too much for him!
He knew that traveling between dimensions, in theory, is possible, but just now he was talking with someone from another dimension! When he found the space distortion, he thought that at best they will find an alien from another solar system or galaxy, not someone from another dimension!
