章節 6: Chapter 6: So I Couldn't Kill The Clown
A little note sorry I'm really busy today so I can't edit it right now so be prepared for a lot of grammar and spelling mistakes before I get around to editing it.

(General POV)
As Yumi was lost in thought Gon spoke up seeing her so deep in thought as he was also thinking deeply and assumed they were both thinking about the same thing.
"Hey, I've been thinking what do you think Hisoka was talking about when he said that we all passed?"
'He meant that we were good enough to fulfill his pedophilic tendencies as well as his battle-crazed personality therefore making us the perfect toy.' is what Yumi wanted to say but she kept that to herself and just decided to keep quiet letting Kurpakia who was right behind them speak.
"I'm not sure but I think he might've been playing judge."
"Juge?" Gon asks not fully understanding Kurapika's words.
"Yes, he must have his own benchmarks for evaluating a person's power, it's possible that he was measuring the strength of each applicant, apparently you and Leorio met his standards. Whatever those happen to be."
"Okay right, that makes sense. But I was powerless to do anything to stop it."
"We were both powerless to stop it," Yumi says irritating her at the memory even if she quickly put on her not-creepy smile to cheer up Gon.
"Not to even say how we were able to deal damage to him even if it was minimal. I also think that whatever standards he might have aren't completely based on strength either as without any disrespect Leorio would not be much stronger than the group of men on the floor if he were going off of pure strength. But what that means his standards are I have no idea"
'Well I guess I have an idea but the whole Hunter X Hunter fanbase has their ideas so let's just keep quiet'
"I guess you have a point regarding our attacks hitting him but that was only because we were working together. But I also think that it isn't based on strength as Lerorio didn't even win his fight as well."
"Well, maybe what Hisoka said to Yumi might be the closest to the truth we have. Maybe he sensed some kind of kinship with you all."
"He sensed it?" Gon asks for further clarification.
"It's possible that Hisoka could qualify as a hunter. But I sincerely doubt it. However, I must admit that I'm impressed by his superhuman agility and the gracefulness of his technique. Those who are blessed with unique talents are often drawn to others with unique gifts of their own it's likely that based on his intuition and experience Hisoka could tell that you all had the skill and potential to become Hunters. So from his perspective killing the three of you now would be a waste!" Kuripika then realizes what he just implied and quickly apologizes.
"Oh no sorry! That must sound horrible!"
'Don't worry Kurapika! I didn't take any offence!' Yumi yells internally but she doesn't say anything as she wants Gon to speak first.
"Um Um. But I've got to say it was actually pretty exciting back there! I was so scared that all I wanted to do was run away but I couldn't cause I was excited at the same time isn't that weird!" Gon says while giving a bright smile.
"No, it's not weird at all!" Yumi blurted out accidentally but with all eyes now on her, she decided to continue. "I can completely understand your feelings and not only because of my disorder but because I felt like that too! The pain I was feeling at that moment was all mine and so real that my heart was racing. The thought of me dying was there but also there was the thought of me surviving and even winning! And that got me excited!"
'As well as the thoughts of slitting Hisoka's throat but never mind that' Yumi thinks to herself.
Gon gives Yumi a big smile upon hearing how they had similar experiences and that positive atmosphere lasted their entire jog/run to the second phase.

"Looks like we made it in time," Kuirapika says as they see the crowd ahead of them, as they walk through the crowd Gon begins looking back and forth for his friend and soon communicates his worries.
"But where is Leorio?"
Then sensing a familiar presence he looks to his side Yumi follows his gaze to see Hisoka who points to Leorio's body that is resting on a tree.
"There he is!" Both Gon and Yumi say at the same time which was of course orchestrated by Yumi as she wanted to say the same thing as Gon like all the rest of the main four get to do at least once.
The group then runs to Leorio's location as Gon drops his briefcase.
"Man, that stings," Leorio says rubbing his swollen cheek. "How the hell did I get beat up so badly"
Everyone was surprised (except for Yumi of course who had to fake it which wasn't that hard) at this revelation.
"I can't remember?" Leorio says while Kurapika quickly pulls us into a huddle.
"We probably shouldn't tell him what happened" Gon quickly agrees but Yumi is slightly saddened at this plan.
"But doesn't he have a right to know?" She questions making Kurapika freeze up.
"Yes he does but maybe not now especially as this is the start of the second stage it just wouldn't do him any good"
"Okay, I guess," Yumi says feeling Kurapikas unease. "It's just that it'll become harder to tell him the longer we wait"
Glad that she was onboard the three turn back to Leorio who is confused about what they could be talking about.
"Gon! Yumi!" Killua calls out making them all turn to him as he holds his skateboard under his right shoulder.
"Killua!" Gon calls out excitedly while Yumi smiles her happy but fake smile.
"I was starting to think you guys weren't going to make it here, Or that you guys didn't make it all"
"Like that was going to happen," Yumi says matching Killua's sass while internally screaming at a sunset off a cliff something about how her Killua should never change.
"I just followed the trail of Leorios Colone"
"And I followed him!" Yumi chips in.
"You tracked his scent! That's how!" Killua said getting visibly taken aback. "Man Gon, you really are weird aren't you" he then turns to Yumi. "And you just trusted him and let him guide you?"
"It's not like I had much of a choice?" says shruging.
"Excellent work everyone!" Satotz yells out commanding everyone attention. "The second phase will take place here in the Visca forset park! So I shall now take my leave! I wish you all the very best of luck!"
As he walks away Yumi shamelessly calls out to him thanking him for everything even if she gets a bunch of odd stares. Those stares didn't last for long anyway as the large doors in front of everyone opened revealing their next testing site.
"Will all of the applicants who passed the first phase please enter, Welcome all I'm Menchi your examiner for the second phase!"
"And likewise I'm Buhara!"
Not many could see far enough to completely identify the female voice that was calling out to them but the male voice they could see that it belonged to the giant of a man sitting behind her. As everyone soon walked up close enough to fully view the pair it was clear some nasty guys were fully taking in Menchis body making it slightly harder to focus. That was until they heard a loud sound.
The crowd got slightly distressed trying their hardest to identify the source of the sound before Menchi explained.
"Sounds to me like you're getting hungry," she says addressing Buhara.
"Not just hungry I'm famished!" He says in a distressed tone.
Menchi soon gets up facing the crowd. "Well, there you have it. The second phase... Will be COOKING!"
Now that stirs up the crowd and it wasn't a very positive reaction. It wasn't long until someone spoke up.
"We came here to take the hunter exam!"
"That's right!" Menchi says responding to the angry retort.
"The second phase of the exam will be preparing a meal that satisfies our palates!"
"Why do we have to cook then?" Someone questions many sharing the sentiment.
"Don't you know? It's simple really!" Machi says turning the question around the mock the stupid extra. "Because we're Gourmet Hunters"
Everybody starts laughing at this causing the women to visibly frown.
"So you're both Gourmet Hunters. What exactly do you want us to make?" A fat man with yellow hair but black roots taunts.
"Buhara" Menchi calls giving the task of explaining to him as she is not in the mood anymore.
"Today's required ingredient will be pork! Feel free to use meat from any species of pig in Visca forset! As you see you will use these cooking facilities to prep your pork dishes. To pass the exam you must make a dish that'll satisfy our discriminating palates!"
"But we won't be evaluating taste alone," Menchi adds hands crossed. "So take this seriously," she warns. "Is that clear? When we've both eaten our fill this portion of the exam will be over."
"Let the exam second phase!" Buhara shouts using his belly as some sort of Gong. "Begins!"
As everybody runs out Yumi stays behind which startles the two hunters making them curious about why she may have stayed behind.
"Now why are you still here little girl," Menchi says still slightly irritated.
"I just wanted to ask what both of your palates might be as it wouldn't make sense for me to cook something according to your palates if I didn't know what they are?" Yumi asks in a cold tone.
This impressed the two Gourmet Hunters that a girl of this age actually thought far enough and hard enough into this challenge to ask such a crucial question when nobody else did. This brings a smile to Menchi's face.
"I'm very picky but I do have a preference for spicy food"
"Well as for me I like sweeter food but as long as it's cooked well I'll eat it!"
Mentally noting this Yumi thanks the two as she runs to catch up with the rest of the pack.
"Now I hope she doesn't die because of your mean streak," Machi says watching Yumi's back as she disappeared into the forest.
Buhara laughs at that. "I hope so as well"

Seekeroflight: Let's go! This is so much fun I can't believe I already finished another chapter! So Yumi what's your plan for this cooking test?
Yumi: Well in my past life after watching this episode of Hunter X Hunter of course I bought all the pork I could and locked myself in the kitchen. So I am very confident I can pass this test! There is no way I haven't cooked pork at this point!
Seekeroflight: Okay but I have a question. You seemed kind of cold to Machi and Buhara. Do you not like them or something?
Yumi: I guess they're okay. Machi almost failed Gon because some stupid extra got her angry but she owned up to it the second Netero came along so she's bearable, to say the least.
Seekeroflight: Interesting. Well, I guess I have to figure out what you're going to make!
Yumi: I better make something good!
Seekeroflight: I'll try 😅
