Thank you everyone for the opening support. As thanks I'll share the opening sequence of thoughts and regrets so far writing the first four chapters. If you don't care then just skip this page, chapter 5(maybe 6) will release later today:
First, the start was partially true IRL. I was drinking, listening to Arcane and slightly annoyed with the ending being rushed, and said fuck it before starting to write. Thankfully it wasn't stupid drunk and came out with something ok for the first two chapters. The rest have been sober. I might just put a [D] with the chapters that I drink and write on.
Chapter 3/4: Chapter three I had no major issues with, chapter four I had some regrets. If you were enjoying yourself at home and woke up suddenly in a strange, metallic room with metallic Silent Hill steampunk sounds and clanging going on outside, feeling pepper sprayed with burning eyes and lungs, a horror green tinge to the air, it would be a horror sequence for probably 90% of people. I thought about him spending the first few dozens chapters on a slow memory IV drip as he discovered Zaun and killing an innocent rat-person outside in fear the moment he steps out.
Problem is even if I wanted to turn that into a side-story that merges into the original going now, the character building, the mistakes he would make not knowing Zaun initially, would change it (to me). It would also be less about Arcane fanfiction and more about survival in Piltover/Zaun. If I did want to make an original novel now, I would make it in a similar steampunk-style land following this premise instead + magic/system still.
Magic/System: I spent some research time on Runeterra magic and Arcane/League lore (it's complicated ASF) while mixing it with your normal blue light power from shows flowing into you as a power up before potentially exploding to start. I decided against system for this because I would just be me throwing numbers up without an idea on how to balance the power building. Plenty do it right, I don't think I would starting out.
That's all folks!
