章節 80: Slaughter

In the early morning, at the breakfast table, everyone was enjoying their meal.

This was the home of Desail, a vast tent towering approximately ten meters high. Given that the Tauren race typically boasts heights exceeding two to three meters, the dining table was designed to be exceptionally tall, with correspondingly large chairs.

Seated upon the expansive chairs, surrounded by furniture that seemed nearly double the size of that in the human world, Xiao Mu Yu and Riven appeared almost childlike, as if they had been shrunk several sizes. Meanwhile, the already small figures of Annie and Teemo appeared even more diminutive.

Due to his height, Captain Teemo could only stand atop his chair to eat, casting furtive glances between Riven and the little girl, his expression one of bewilderment.

To be honest, since they had gathered for breakfast at Desail's invitation that morning, the self-proclaimed perceptive Captain Teemo sensed that something was amiss. Aside from the perpetually cold Xiao Mu Yu, who remained expressionless as if nothing had transpired, the other two women—Riven and Annie—were uncharacteristically silent. Occasionally, when Riven and Xiao Mu Yu's icy gazes inadvertently met, the usually brash silver-haired soldier would blush and swiftly avert her eyes, her expression betraying a sense of guilt akin to that of a thief.

The once boisterous little girl, who frequently clung to Xiao Mu Yu for affection, had fallen quiet, her head bowed as she delicately sipped the vegetable soup before her, resembling a timid kitten. From time to time, she would sneak glances at Riven and Xiao Mu Yu, only to quickly bury her head again as if fearful of being discovered. Soon enough, she would steal another glance…

Captain Teemo felt as though he were being kept in the dark.

Despite the unsettling realization that their powers had diminished by a tier that morning, he refused to believe that the odd behavior of these three individuals was connected to their decline in strength. After all, Mother Cole had already assured them that she had a solution, so they should not be overly concerned.

His keen intuition warned him that the reactions of these three were anything but normal; they were clearly hiding something from him.

This revelation left Captain Teemo feeling angry and betrayed, as if his teammates had conspired against him…

At last, the little creature could no longer contain himself.

With a sudden thump on the table that drew everyone's attention, Captain Teemo exclaimed, somewhat indignantly, "Hey! You three! Are you hiding something from me?"

"Uh… are we? Hehehe… I don't think so," Riven replied sheepishly, casting a guilty glance at the still indifferent Xiao Mu Yu.

"No? How could that be!" The great Captain Teemo was incensed by Riven's dismissive response. He waved his chubby little arms and declared, "Riven, are you lying to me? You haven't spoken a word all morning; even a fool can tell you have something going on! Do you think the great Captain Teemo is an idiot? What are you hiding from me? Speak up! Otherwise, Captain Teemo will get angry! The consequences of angering Captain Teemo are quite severe!"

"Uh… well… ah, Mr. Desail, I'm full," Riven said, casting a nervous glance at the indifferent man. She swiftly grabbed Captain Teemo by the scruff of his neck and dashed out, saying, "Um… Teemo and I are leaving now. Isn't there fish in the river outside the village? Let's go fishing!"

"Hey! Hey! Let me go! I haven't finished eating yet!" Captain Teemo protested, flailing his little arms in the air as he struggled to be released, but his cries gradually faded away.

"Ha ha… have fun, you two," the tall Tauren at the table waved goodbye to Riven's departing figure, smiling kindly. "The fishing rods are by the door; feel free to take them."

"Got it, thank you, Mr. Desail."

"Hey! Put me down! You stinky Riven! If you don't let me down, I'll… I'll be really angry! Captain Teemo's anger is terrifying! Put me down now!"

The sounds of his protests eventually faded into the distance.

Casting a forlorn glance at Xiao Mu Yu, little Annie tilted her head thoughtfully before jumping down from her chair and bouncing after Riven, exclaiming, "Big brother, I'm full too!"

"…" With an indifferent glance at the departing trio, Xiao Mu Yu resumed his meal as if nothing had happened.

"Ha ha… young people are full of energy," Desail remarked, shaking his head with a gentle smile as he watched the three leave.

The table fell silent once more.

Not long after, as the remaining two were nearing the end of their breakfast, Desail's youngest son pushed open the door and entered. He was a very young Tauren, only five years old, yet nearly as tall as Xiao Mu Yu.

The little fellow greeted the two at the table with a smile, saying, "Good morning, Dad! Um… good morning, Uncle Xiao Mu Yu!"

As the child settled into the chair beside Xiao Mu Yu, Desail smiled warmly, "Good morning, Riel. Have you finished your morning exercise?"

"Yeah, I'm done, Dad," the little Tauren replied, stuffing food into his mouth. "Today, I ran sixteen laps around the village!"

"Ha ha ha… my dear son, with such dedication, you will surely grow into a strong Tauren. I'm proud of you," Desail said, nodding with satisfaction.

"Of course! I will definitely grow up to be a strong Tauren like you, Dad," the little Tauren proclaimed confidently, as he continued to eat. "One day, I'll be able to take down the forest wolves with my bare hands, just like you!"

"Ha ha…" Desail nodded approvingly at his son's aspirations, smiling gently.

Observing the kind and loving atmosphere of this Tauren family, Xiao Mu Yu coldly pushed back his chair and stood up.

"Um… Uncle, are you full?" Noticing Xiao Mu Yu's movement, the little Tauren looked up curiously while chewing his food.

"Ah… yes, I'm full," Xiao Mu Yu replied indifferently, his gaze icy as he regarded the innocent little Tauren.

"Swish!"

The battered sword sliced through the air, and in the astonished gaze of the little Tauren, it severed his head, warm blood gushing from the gaping wound in his neck, staining the food on the table crimson.

"You! You! You!" Desail exclaimed in a mix of anger, shock, and fear as he watched his son's head roll across the table, finally stopping before him. He rose abruptly, demanding, "What have you done?! Ah?!"

No response.

The sword's sharp blade twisted violently, cleaving through Desail's thick muscle and shattering his sturdy vertebrae. Amidst the fountain of blood that erupted, Desail's head thudded to the wooden floor with a resounding crash.

Rolling slightly, the massive head finally came to a stop, its wide, astonished eyes staring in disbelief at Xiao Mu Yu, as if expressing its owner's confusion and incomprehension at why their kindness had led to such a fate.

"…" Casting a cold glance at the two fallen Tauren corpses on the table, Xiao Mu Yu turned away, indifferent to the warm blood dripping slowly from the edge of the massive table.

The pristine white fox trembled, huddled on his shoulder, frightened into silence by the chilling aura of death emanating from its master, bewildered as to why he had slain this kind Tauren family.

With indifferent footsteps, Xiao Mu Yu slowly made his way to the inner chamber of the tent, which served as the kitchen. At that moment, Desail's wife—a similarly kind and gentle Tauren—was busy at the stove. Noticing the footsteps behind her, she called out without turning, "Is that you, Desail?"

"…" No response.

"Um… it must be Riel, right? You little rascal, are you up to mischief again? Hurry outside; Mommy is busy and doesn't have time to play with you right now. Go find your father." Still occupied, Desail's wife continued to tidy up the kitchen.

However, the footsteps of the visitor did not cease; instead, they drew closer and closer…

"Um… Riel, didn't Mommy tell you to…" Turning around with growing impatience, Desail's wife barely finished her sentence before her massive head soared through the air, trailing warm blood.

Standing coldly at the kitchen door, Xiao Mu Yu wiped the vibrant red blood from his sword, disregarding the headless corpse that slumped to the ground, as well as the crimson spray that decorated the kitchen walls due to the pressure of the decapitation. With his tattered gray cloak billowing slightly, Xiao Mu Yu's indifferent silhouette gradually faded into the distance…

...

The tall wooden door was gently pushed open, bright light flooding into the dim tent. Noticing the arrival of a guest, the elderly Tauren couple looked up in confusion and softly inquired, "Um… child, do you need something?"

No answer. The sharp sword traced an arc through the air, and amidst the warm spray of blood, two aged heads flew from their bodies…

...

On the village road, a friendly Tauren greeted the cold, cloaked figure of the indifferent man, "Ah, good morning, human friend! Hehe… my dear friend, are you enjoying your stay in our village? Hehe… Mr. Desail's wife prepares the most delicious meals in our village…"

Before the smiling Tauren could finish, another massive head soared into the morning sun, warm blood splattering across the verdant grass on either side of the road. The enormous head rolled a short distance, its wide, astonished eyes gazing in disbelief before coming to rest, having crushed a few delicate flowers along the way…
