章節 150: Peeling the Layers

Very well, continue speaking; I am curious to see what you can conjure up," Ezreal remarked, a hint of annoyance in his tone.

Xiao Mu Yu cast a cold glance at the handsome young man with golden hair, then coolly rubbed his forehead. "As I mentioned earlier, I have formed certain hypotheses regarding Jinx's identity. However, it is evident that this line of reasoning alone is insufficient to establish a connection between Jinx and the Security Corps. Nevertheless, this clue has at least pointed me in a certain direction."

"A direction towards capturing Jinx," Xiao Mu Yu stated coldly. "The essence of case speculation lies in enumerating all potential scenarios surrounding an event and then validating them in order of likelihood. For even if previous conjectures are disproven, there is no real loss; at the very least, we ascertain that such hypotheses are untenable, thus avoiding the misdirection that could lead us astray in our subsequent investigations."

"Therefore, I boldly hypothesize that Jinx shares a profound relationship with the Security Corps—so close that even personnel changes within the Corps cannot escape her notice," Xiao Mu Yu continued, his tone icy. "Following this lead, I soon uncovered evidence that would allow me to pursue this direction further."

"What evidence?" Kaliya, standing behind Ezreal, could not help but inquire.

Yet, Xiao Mu Yu did not immediately respond to the young officer's question. Instead, he coldly continued, "Yesterday, I transported all the case files related to Jinx back to my home. There, I spent a day and a night perusing these documents and discovered something quite intriguing."

His frigid gaze swept across the faces of those present, absorbing the expressions of all seven individuals before he coldly declared, "Upon reviewing the files, I found that all the individuals slain by Jinx share a commonality."

"A commonality? Are they all evildoers who escaped legal retribution?" Galleon interjected, unable to contain himself.

"Not quite," Xiao Mu Yu replied, casting a cold glance at the young officer. "Rather, I discovered that every victim killed by Jinx had some degree of connection to the Security Corps."

Seizing a piece of white chalk, Xiao Mu Yu drew a line connecting the circles labeled [Victims] and [Security Corps] on the small blackboard behind him, stating coldly, "As I previously mentioned, the idea that two intersecting lines could lack a point of intersection is entirely untenable. Thus, the absence of any connection between two related events is, by nature, a paradox."

"It is now certain that Jinx is not an omniscient deity... No, even deities cannot claim omniscience. So why has Jinx killed so many, with each victim being precisely an evildoer who evaded legal punishment? Why are there no innocent victims among them?" Xiao Mu Yu queried coldly. "Could it be that Jinx truly possesses divine insight or the ability to peer into the hearts of men? Has her judgment in selecting targets never faltered?"

"Uh... why is that?" Galleon, the young member of the Security Corps, could not help but ask.

"It's quite simple; Jinx possesses formidable detective skills," Xiao Mu Yu stated coldly. "This so-called detective ability refers to the capacity for investigation and exploration. Jinx has managed to eliminate so many without leaving any useful clues, and in addition to her ability to glean intelligence from the Security Corps and monitor their movements, her own investigative prowess is undoubtedly exceptional."

"As a criminal under surveillance by the Security Corps, from the moment she was targeted, she was destined to wield one mind against the collective intelligence of many," Xiao Mu Yu continued coldly. "In terms of sheer force, a ninth-tier individual can contend with thousands, and a master of the sacred domain can effortlessly crush tens of thousands. However, in the realm of intellect, even the most brilliant genius cannot singularly outmatch a group."

Xiao Mu Yu added coldly, "While intelligence may vary in degree, the differences seldom reach an insurmountable divide; deficiencies in quality can often be compensated for by advantages in quantity. Thus, even the continent's foremost sage, Sweeney, surrounds himself with a formidable team of advisors and strategists."

"Moreover, despite such strength, Sweeney cannot exert his influence on the battlefield to truly dominate the Demacian forces," Xiao Mu Yu stated coldly. "This is because Demacia also possesses its own powerful cadre of strategists. While any single strategist from this team would be easily defeated by Sweeney, when they unite, they can barely contend with him."

"This illustrates the distinction between the power of intellect and elemental force," Xiao Mu Yu remarked coldly. "A criminal may indeed possess intellect that transcends the ordinary, but the moment they are targeted by the Security Corps, they are no longer facing an individual or a few people; they are contending with the entirety of the judicial system."

"In such circumstances, a direct confrontation yields no advantage," Xiao Mu Yu stated coldly. "For no matter how astute an individual may be, they will inevitably have blind spots. Once these gaps are identified in the clash of wits, they become pivotal to unraveling the situation."

"Perhaps one or two individuals may not discern these blind spots immediately, but if a group collaborates in thought and inquiry, the day will inevitably come when these gaps are revealed," Xiao Mu Yu said, his expression icy. "And the day the blind spot is discovered is the day the criminal is apprehended... Thus, Jinx, as a clearly high-intelligence offender, cannot engage in a head-on confrontation with the entire judicial system."

"In other words, she will strive to avoid direct clashes with the Security Corps in her actions," Xiao Mu Yu continued coldly. "This is why she has evaded capture for so long; she has consistently avoided direct conflict with you. To her, you possess numerical superiority; yet to you, she holds the advantage of remaining concealed."

"As long as she does not engage you directly, whether you face her as an individual or as a group is of little consequence to her," Xiao Mu Yu stated coldly. "By deliberately avoiding direct confrontation, she sidesteps the most unfavorable situations for herself, making it entirely reasonable that you have struggled to uncover any connections to her."

"Uh... Mr. Ye, are you suggesting that Jinx has been evading us all along? Is that why it has been so difficult to capture her?" Kaliya inquired, unable to restrain herself after hearing Xiao Mu Yu's assessment.

"Under normal circumstances, yes," Xiao Mu Yu replied, his expression still cold as he nodded. "However, as I mentioned, since two lines have already intersected, there must exist a point of intersection between them... The only difference lies in how deeply this point is concealed. Once we locate this point, we can seamlessly transition to another line of inquiry, making it quite simple to deduce Jinx's identity."
