章節 16: Seriously, do you want us to go at it tonight as well?

"Explain yourself." Beric suddenly said and Yeon Jin's eyebrows twitched from underneath his blindfold.

"What?"

Who was going to explain here? Yeon Jin looked at him in disbelief. Who was it that always came up with an absurd reason to fight, argue and die? Now he was asking 'him' for an explanation? Why was he so childish and...?

This must've been a result of his words never getting defied while growing up. He was so used to being right and powerful that he couldn't accept explaining to someone and bending to their whims.

Well too bad for him because he met Yeon Jin.

"Just get out if you don't want to be reasonable." Yeon Jin said to him, stunning him.

Annoyed, Beric wished he could snap Yeon Jin's neck but that was no easy feat with someone who his powers didn't work on and also had a surprisingly equal amount of strength as him.

He reached for his sword and Yeon Jin caught sight of it.

"Seriously, do you want us to go at it tonight as well?" He asked him, folding his arms. "I don't have the collar on. So this time, if we're going to be brawling all over the floor and destroying everything in this room, just know it's going to last till one of us successfully over powers the others and I don't think that's going to happen in the span of an hour or two so make your choice. And be quick about it, I need to sleep."

Beric's eyes brimmed with discontent. He didn't like that there was someone who dared to exchange such words with him. He was too fearless.

"If you're gonna stand there, then just go." Yeon Jin said, seeing his unmoving self. "You must've felt relief, knowing I'd die from the poison. Sorry I didn't meet your lousy expectations but really, you have to go. It's late and seeing you just reminds me of the shitty amount of blood I spilled out at the dinner table." He flinched at his own words and turned away.

Beric found himself gritting his teeth at a weak little thing who was finding no problems challenging and insulting him. His fingers twitched. How much he wanted to snap Yeon Jin's neck but he couldn't do it.

Though he was greatly annoyed, angry and irritated at Yeon Jin, he couldn't bring himself to actually take out his sword and stab him. The most he could do was give him a punch or two but the will to kill him actually didn't exist.

It must've been his strange powers acting up again like it did at the garden.

Yeon Jin fixed his hair in a less uncomfortable manner and turned to see Beric still standing. How much he wanted to spill out the words in his mind but he was holding back. Even with all that he said, that was him holding back and if he were to spill it all out, Beric might just have enough reason to kill him… from rage, of course.

"Let's talk." Beric suddenly said and made his way to sit on a chair. Yeon Jin watched him and wondered what had suddenly come over him.

"O-kay?" Unsure if that was the right thing to do, he went to sit opposite Beric. "What do you want to talk about?"

Beric stayed silent and watched him. He silently observed Yeon Jin and Yeon Jin, in turn, stayed quiet and acted like an observatory piece.

Beric stared. The one in front of him had smooth and pale skin, resembling that of porcelain, hair was long and was as white as snow, lips that resembled pink roses that just budded. His blindfold stood out in his appearance and actually made him look dignified.

This guy, he was definitely from the holy empire... According to the report he got a moment ago. Well, if he was to exclude his character and manner of speech, his appearance looked too much like a priest from the holy empire.

"I have discovered your identity." Beric finally spoke up, breaking the silence. "You claim your soul is different from the body in which I see, and honestly, I have every cause to believe that and also not believe it."

Yeon Jin was silent. Where was this going?

"Your behavior and choice of words is different from those who have served directly under the Pope." Beric stated. "Dal Novastra, the adopted son of Pope Emer Novastra and also a fateful disciple serving directly under the Pope. I don't know what that hypocritical Pope sent you to do but you definitely came a long way."

"Technically, he came a long way." Yeon Jin interrupted him. "I mean, it's foolish coming to challenge you alone in the first place. I'd like to know exactly what kind of plans he came up with to have the confidence to face a tyrant like you." He dropped his elbow on the table and rested his chin on his palm. "Seriously, was he stupid?"

Beric observed Yeon Jin after hearing his response. Yes, that was not the way a direct disciple of the Pope would speak.

Usually, the people who served 'god' in the holy empire, were very respectful to those in higher authority and especially the Pope so if the Pope gets insulted even the slightest, they would immediately react to it negatively and rebuke such words but this guy... He was a direct disciple, yet he had this 'I couldn't care less' attitude towards the things that had to do with the holy empire, its people and the Pope.

"You're not him." Beric muttered but Yeon Jin heard it loud and clear.

"Took you a while to realize." He said. "So now, will you still raise your sword at me, even while knowing you can't kill me?"

"And why can't I kill you?" Beric asked him but Yeon Jin shrugged his shoulders.

"Ask yourself. You're the one who's always hesitating." He said. "But facts are clear." He leaned his head closer to him and said in a low voice, "I don't belong to this world so nothing in this world can actually kill me."
