"I understand your anger, Emma Rose. I've heard rumors about you for a while now. But I am afraid that it was not the best time for you to act on your emotions."

Nick looked at Lisa when he said that. It made her feel like the man was asking Emma to tone things for Lisa's sake.

Lisa had a sudden urge to butt in and tell them both that she had seen worse before and that there was no need to hold back for her sake. But as soon as she opened her mouth, no words came out.

Nick's easy-going smile made Lisa's instincts yell loudly, and she suddenly felt glad she had not made any comment.

Emma noticed Lisa as well, and she instantly calmed down.

"Fuck! You are right! Fine! I see your point."

The trio returned to their school ten minutes after they were supposed to. Lisa still had half an hour's journey left to reach her home, but the day felt overwhelming.

Now that she had time to think, her feelings seemed to be catching up to her.
