Christopher, Jackson, and Sir Collin, who were on the first floor, all took notice of the noise coming from Deacon's room.
They raced up the stairs and heard Evangeline's panicked voice calling out for Dr. Clayton and the thoracic surgeon Dr. McFadden as Kane was quickly pushed from the room.
The two doctors ran to the bedchamber; the door creaking as they opened it to see about Giselle's condition.
Evangeline, exhausted, remarked, "The morphine made her feel drowsy and relieved Giselle's stress. Although I hesitated to use it, I was considering her fragile state because of the pregnancy."
"However, the lady gave no alternative. I thought she was going to bust her stitches."
Dr. Clayton reassured the young nurse with a pat on the shoulder. "It's alright. It was appropriate under the circumstances."
It is neat to see how places have changed, and Kane is showing respect to Bryson and his new position as a commander.
See you all in the mid-morning with another chapter.
