章節 47: PROPHECY
"Have a seat, Dante, and cool your heels. You look like you are about to bust an artery in your brain." Kane was still laughing at Dante's reaction to Rose being found in the arms of his enemy.
"I'm going to gut that rat bastard if he touches Rose again." Dante was fuming about what he would do with Lord Thorn.
"Sit down, and let's talk, Dante," Kane pointed to the chair next to him and sighed in exasperation. "I tried to warn you the other day when you started describing Rose and her abilities to me. Demons do not have the capability of healing others and restoring life.
So... will you listen to me now, or are you going to ignore my advice again?" Lord Alexsander waited for Dante to calm down and take his seat. The Count finally relaxed and sat in the chair next to Lord Alexsander.
"Good, it seems like I finally got your attention," he said to Dante.
"Tonight, when I saw your daughter in the parlour, I was instantly drawn to her. Rose is the Morningstar Nexus, also called the light-bearing binder or, in the ancient tongue, the Stella Matutina Nectere."
"The one who will bind the angels and demons, bringing them into the light. The one who will give birth to the peacemaker. I had always believed it to be an angel that would do this, but I was wrong."
"It is your daughter."
"She fit the description down to her allure. She attracts so many suitors because she is ready to bear a child. Her body signals to every male around her that it's time to mate. The ancient texts state it will be an angel and a demon who create the one that brings peace to the battling angels and satans. That's why Christopher is enamored with her more than all the others." Kane leaned back in his chair and placed his feet on the stool to relax. He watched as Dante tried to digest what he said.
"Bwahaha!!!" Dante started laughing like a man who had lost his mind.
"..."
"What's so funny?" Asked Kane.
"Samael can not have children. With Lilith, he had many wicked children, including The Sword of Samael. God unceremoniously castrated Samael, so he and Lilith could not fill the world with demonic offspring. "
"I highly doubt that is why he is attracted to Rose. She is a way for him to jab at me. I refuse to let Christopher use Rose as a tool to get revenge for the past."
"He is not using her against you, Dante; I'm telling you, Samael, my sibling, thinks he loves her."
"I have known Christopher since time began. He is one of my brothers, and I know how he is. I watched him tonight in the parlour and how enraged he got at Larson Milner for even mentioning your daughter's name.
Get the girl married quickly and move her away from here. Do you have any suitors in mind for Rose?"
Kane was eager to help Dante. He had a vendetta to settle with Christopher for his treatment of Giselle back when they were knights. Kane would do anything to prevent him from loving another woman. It was what he deserved for hurting Giselle all those years ago. Lord Alexsander was not a fan of Dante, but the Count was the lesser of two evils, and Kane might have a chance to free Giselle from servitude to her brother Dante. Lord Alexsander wanted to remove Giselle away from this place and marry her.
"I have a good friend coming from Australia to make a business deal with Christopher. He will stay at my estate while in London," said Kane.
"His name is Magnus. It would be a blow to Lord Thorn if we could get him to seduce Rose and marry her."
"She is definitely his type of woman. I know Magnus would make her happy and spoil her. He is a shapeshifter, and we could use him to prevent Rose from being the Nectere."
"He is a demon like us. It would stop the prophecy, especially if Rose bore a child for him. Magnus would also keep her far away from Lord Thorn."
"I want to make a deal. If I can get Rose to wed Magus, Then I want you to release Giselle."
"I've waited long enough, Dante. I want to make your sister my wife. Giselle has more than served out her punishment to you." Kane would do anything possible to liberate his lover from her brother's wicked clutches.
"Can I think this over before I give you my answer?" Dante asked Kane, taking a sip of sangré wine.
"I will give you until the Winter Ball. It's still several weeks from now. That should be sufficient time, and Magnus should arrive soon. You can meet with him and then give me your decision." Kane would patiently play Dante's game.
The minute the Count said Giselle was free to marry him. Kane would wed and whisk her out of this living hell.
"It has been good to speak with you like this. This deal will be beneficial for both of us. Good evening, your Grace. I'm going to find Giselle." Kane left Dante to think over the proposal he had laid out.

It was still inside the mansion, and the time was close to midnight. Dante rushed Rose upstairs to get ready for bed like a misbehaved child after he caught her with Lord Thorn. Dante humiliated Rose in front of the other women after he brought her back inside the conservatory.
The Count ranted at her about letting a man touch her without an escort. As she was unmarried, it was forbidden for a man even to be seen with her without a chaperone.
She would be considered a loose woman. Rose's body shook as Dante yelled. She was upset about how her father treated her.
Now she would be ridiculed and talked about in London's social circles. She thought, 'All that hard work on etiquette was for not.'
Rose sat on her bed in a little ball with her knees drawn up to her chest. She was waiting until everyone fell asleep, and she would leave to meet Christopher. The most important question for Rose was how he knew Dante. There was a story between these two, and Rose wanted to learn more.
Faint footsteps and the clinking of glasses could be heard outside her door. Rose recognized it was a man's heavy steps. She got up from her bed and cracked her door slightly. She peered through to find Lord Kane Alexsander ascending from the first floor with a wine bottle and two glasses in his hands.
When he hit the half-pace of the staircase, Rose got a better view of him. She could see he was in a dark blue military dress uniform tailored to fit his flawless body. Like Christopher, he was well over six feet tall, with broad shoulders and a narrow waist. The man had the thighs of a stallion that were solidly built.
When Lord Alexsander arrived earlier this evening, Rose could not see his entire body as it was covered by his mantle. The one extraordinary thing about Kane was his aquamarine eyes. They were as beautiful as the Caribbean Sea.
Lord Alexsander caught Rose peeking out of the room at him.
"Hello, Rose." His lips held a mischievous smirk.
"Come out here and show yourself to me. I won't bite." Kane spoke to her in a beguiling tone. She knew he was trying to tempt her to leave her room. Rose retreated further behind her door, using it like a shield. She did not trust Kane.
"I don't think that's a good idea. I'm not dressed properly," said Rose cautiously from her hiding place in reply to Kane's request.
"Is that so? What a meek and modest little mouse you are," Chuckled Kane. "Well, good night, Lady Rose. We will see each other tomorrow when you have dressed more appropriately." He walked past her door and knocked on Giselle's.
"Open up, my sweet. It's me. We have some celebrating to do." Rose heard Giselle's lock snap open. Then the door clicked shut again. Rose listened to the couple talking, and Giselle sounded excited. She giggled with pleasure as Kane spoke with her. Rose pondered on what kind of good news Lord Alexsander had given Giselle.
Later, she could hear them making passionate love to one another and was glad Giselle had someone who treasured her. At least Giselle's attention was focused on someone else for now, and not her. Rose prayed it would change her aunt for the better if someone truly cared for her.
