The morning arrived abruptly, bringing with it a surge of anxiety for Rose as she grappled with the predicament she faced. She pried open her eyelids and gazed outside the window of her bedroom. The sun had already risen, casting a warm glow across the room.
She could see through the window a vivid blue sky stretching out above her, dotted with fluffy clouds. The chirping of little house sparrows filled the air as they darted and weaved through the branches of the trees outside.
Rose inhaled deeply, taking in the fresh scent of the crisp morning air. Beside her, Christopher stirred and let out a soft groan. He held her firmly in his embrace, refusing to let go.
"We should stay here for the day," he said, his voice hoarse and scratchy.
"No Chris." Rose turned her body to face him. "We cannot hide our heads in the sand like an ostrich. This giant elephant in the room will not go away on it own. I did some thinking about what you suggested."
