章節 16: A Million Dreams

"Hey there, Momma! Pops! How long has it been? You guys are really hard to track, lol! Eh, before you say anything, I swear it's not because I couldn't read the map! Your teaching was not lost on me! Anyway, in case you didn't remember, I'm Wade and this is apparently Laura and Ken—also your children! Congrats on being parents to three! The stork's company sends its regrets for the late delivery!"

Logan and Rogue stood in stunned silence. Their children had somehow found their way to them instead of the other way around. They quickly regained their composure and ran to embrace them in a bear hug. Wade and his siblings happily embraced the hug, despite the potential for being squished to death. Eh, they'll find out a way to comeback alive again anyway. They always do.

Logan and Marie hugged Wade tightly, as if afraid he might disappear again. Wade felt a bubbly comfort, despite being nearly crushed. It was a moment of pure bliss, reuniting with his original pack and a complete family.

(Oh, really touching, hiks! But for real, though, you should stop before you lose oxygen again.)

'Shut up, I'm kind of immortal and a Marvel Jesus! Death by hugging with two pairs of big breasts is honorable—second only to Death by Snu Snu!'

I still don't think we're twelve years old. Definitely out of order if you think Death by Snu Snu is honorable, and dude, ew—incest! That's your mom and dad!

'Precisely because of that we're twelve years old! It's when you start with all the gross and sex jokes!'

I still don't think it is. Your brain probably got more damaged when you crashed that plane.

"You guys are going to kill him; he looks like he needs oxygen," Jean said to Marie and Logan, who jolted in surprise. Their son seemed to have other thoughts, though.

"Le meh hah thif ya yed chimken btch! Le meh dai im vis! Ya jus helos bcth! Mmbii! Hehe!" Wade mumbled and yelled from the hug, clearly not wanting them to let go, tightening his embrace from his side. Jean looks shocked and visibly upsets after hearing the reply from Wade, what a rude child.

(Get away, you jealous bitch! We wanted this! Let us have this dream!)

Dude, gross. That's our parents!

(My dream parents! Let my inner child heal!)

'Bold, are you really one of us? Sound really sus right now, not gonna lie,'

… I am the only one capable of sanity that's way!

"We're sorry, bub. We didn't know what to do when we saw you again, we just known after you today," Logan said as he reluctantly broke the hug. Wade looked visibly upset.

"Nah, it's okay. I didn't know what to do either! My plan after dropping Ken and Laura here for protection was to sneak around, steal some vehicles, and run away again. I'd probably search for you while dealing with all my feelings about you. I'd end up in a one-bedroom apartment owned by an old blind black woman whom I'd trick into thinking I'm her grandson and try to commit fraud for government aid and selling drugs on the side. I didn't expect to see you again, but I'm glad I did because I don't know what to do with Ken and Laura beside letting them stayed with the geeks," Wade said dejectedly.

Marie and Logan exchanged regretful looks. It seemed they hadn't just forgotten one child but three. Their regret was evident.

"Eh, we almost met earlier when you fought Uncle Vic. Is this one of your annual events again? But this isn't your birthday, or Uncle Vic's… or mine, or Mom's. Uncle Vic didn't know about Laura and Ken—" Wade is trailing, his thought shifted elsewhere, "Oh yeah, I had some 'bonding time' with him! Want to see? I've got pictures!!! I also killed his kinda pet polar bear. I don't know if it was really his pet, but it made a great steak!" Wade exclaimed with glee, his ADHD kicking in.

(Breathe, dude! Breathe!!!)

"You did what with who? Who is Uncle Vic—? You know what, we'll talk about this inside. Let's go," Logan said, still in shock from how much Wade's little mouth was running with shocking information. If it weren't for the claws and the resemblance, he would seriously doubt that Wade was his kid. He picked up the sleepy toddler—Ken, he noted—and held Wade's hand with his other hand. To think he had two sons and a daughter in a single day! No, he would deal with those feelings later; right now, he needed to take care of his family.

(I NEED TO TAKE A PICTURE!!! WHERE'S THE CAMERA? WHERE'S THE FUCKING CAMERA?)

"Sweetie, I'm so sorry. We should have remembered you and your siblings two and a half years ago and brought you all with us! We should have known!" Marie said, her voice filled with regret. She held Laura close, kissing the top of her head.

"It's okay Mom… I saw what those monsters did to you and Pops, to me and my siblings. Even though I don't really remember how, they seemed to have put some kind of trigger and tracker on me that could make me go ballistic. I don't remember everything; I only saw the footage. I plan to try to erase its effects by doing raids. I heard someone named Francis might know something about it. You want in?" Wade said.

"How about we get you inside first, bub? We'll talk to Xavier and get you out of that awful bodysuit," Logan said, leading them toward the mansion. He was uncomfortable thinking about what his child had endured and how easily Wade believed he needed to handle it himself. At least he still asked them if they wanted to accompany him to fuck those bastards, because hell yeah! He will!

If only your dad knew that you wanted to ask him because you just wanted to teamed up and annoy him… We perfectly capable to wreck that fucker bases on our own.

"Ah, I almost forgot—don't touch my skin! It's lethal, if not more so than Momma's. Three mutants actually died from my skin, or at least became mindless zombies afterward. I've never seen what other's two body actually look like after I absorbed them since Skinny Wick was already dying when I was forced to absorb him. BUT! I'm not taking any chances. I don't want to lose you again! The author really hates me!" Wade said, starting to cover a bald spot in his clothes after the explosion and flames from the crash.

"I'm so sorry, sweetie. If it weren't for me, you wouldn't have this curse," Rogue said, her voice filled with sorrow.

"Don't cry, Mom. I'm okay. It doesn't stop me from being really cool, though! Oh, and Pops! Tell Chuck not to pry into my mind! The last telepath who did that fried their brain. I don't want him to end up with brain damage!" Wade said, half-truthfully. He didn't really want Captain Wheels to die because of him. After all, he was still one of his favorite Star Trek captains!

Everyone just watched in disbelief, unsure of how to react to the surreal yet heartwarming reunion of this mutant family. Everyone is talking about how that the new kid as the new gen as he got two mutants as his parent unlike most of them who is the first of their family or having one mutant parents or orphans.

Storm manipulated the weather to bring rain, dousing the flames of the burning plane, while Scott ushered everyone back into the classroom. Everyone buzzed with gossip about the new arrivals.

-

"IS THAT REALLY PROF X??? THEY ACTUALLY HAVE THE BUDGET TO HIRE YOU IN MY STORY? FINALLY!!! And fancy seeing you here. Can I borrow your chair?" Wade chimed in cheerfully after he got cleaned and given a new clothes, earning a glare from everyone, especially Scott.

Professor Xavier, with his calm and composed demeanor, gave Wade a gentle smile. "I'm afraid my chair is off-limits, Wade, but I'm glad to see your enthusiasm. We'll talk more about your role here at the school once we've all settled in."

Wade, still reeling from the surreal reunion, blinked. "Wait, you're not kicking me out? Not even a stern lecture on how crashing a plane into the mansion is a big no-no?"

Xavier chuckled softly. "You're not in trouble, Wade. In fact, we're hoping you'll find a place here at the school. You've been through a lot, and this could be a fresh start for you and your family."

Scott steps forward, trying to keep his tone even. "This isn't just any school, Wade. It's a place where you can learn to handle your abilities. This school is a place where mutants can learn to control their powers and find a sense of purpose. We'd love for you to be part of that."

Wade looked genuinely shocked, "So, you're saying I get to stay here? Like, attend classes, make friends, annoy the said friends, find love, all that jazz? Do I got to be like you? Glaring at things and giving orders? Maybe finds some love and romance with a red-head?"

Storm stifles a chuckle, but Scott just sighs, his patience wearing thin "The Professor's offering you a spot, Wade. Might do you some good. You are still a twelve-year-olds after all, you still need an educations."

'Well, I kinda absorbed some of the scientist memory, I don't really need an educations, I could take my GED and be done with it, maybe I could convinces Logan and Marie to not enroll me… They haven't got any job offerings right?' He mused to himself.

Well no one knew about that...

Wade looks between Logan and Marie clearly torn, wanted them to pull him out but seeing their looks they seemed to agreed and wanted to enroll him in here, his face fell. Uhh so much for his grandschemes to not get enrolled, he thought at least a plan crashes and actively trying to steal both Blackbird and Professor Chair would make they are at least mad. Bunch of goody two shoes indeed, or is it could be that he still a child so that they tolerance him a bit.

(Tough lucks, dude.)

I guess Chucks already told them about job's offering, wonder what it is…

'Maybe PE for Logan and still Arts for Marie, but why I got the feelings it gonna be History for Logan?'

He looks up to Charles, "Uh, are you sure? I mean, I did kinda, sorta, maybe almost crash a plane into your backyard. Aren't I, like, at least be blacklisted?"

Xavier chuckles softly. "No, Wade. You're not blacklisted. We understand that you've been through a lot. This place could help you find some stability. Plus, you get to stay with your family."

"You are staying here? We are not gonna be back to Alberta and fix the cabin?" he asked his parents. They glanced at each other but didn't say anything and just nodded at him. "Uh, Okaaay, I enroll in this school… But no promises on being a model student!"

'Maybe I should stay here with my family a little bit, doing families stuff, corrupting some of the student, and maybe actually stealing Prof X chair and Blackbird?' Wade muttered , his mind racing through scenarios of him being a student.

Professor X smiles, nodding gently. "Deal. You're welcome here as long as you need to be."

Wade's reluctance melts into a mischievous grin. "Alright then! But just so you know, I'm not here to be some straight-A student. I've got a reputation to uphold. What I am saying, Can I still borrow your chair tho?"

-

Logan and Marie watched as Wade, reluctantly but with a glint of curiosity in his eyes, followed Storm and Scott out of the room to explore the mansion with his siblings. The Professor had gently suggested that Wade and his siblings might enjoy seeing the school's facilities, and though Wade had grumbled about it—He still wanted the Professor chair—he eventually agreed.

Logan and Marie sat across from Charles Xavier, the weight of the day's events still heavy on their minds. Charles leaned forward, his voice calm but direct. "Logan, Marie, I won't waste your time. You've been through hell, and you're here because I believe this place can help you—and your children."

Logan crossed his arms, still guarded. "You said that before, when you offered to help us find Wade. Now what? You want us to be teachers? Like Cyke and Storms? Be an X-Men?"

"Yes," Charles replied simply. "But more than that, I'm offering you a chance to stay together as a family. This school can provide Wade, Ken, and Laura with an education, and it can give you both a purpose beyond just surviving."

Marie looked at Logan, then back at Charles. "We're not teachers, Professor. We've spent years running and fighting. We understand if we became an X-Men but teachers…"

Charles nodded. "I understand. But you have experiences that can help others, especially the children here. And let's be honest, Wade needs structure and schooling. I know you don't want to be separated from him again."

Logan sighed, rubbing the back of his neck. "And if we say no?"

"Then you leave with my support, and I'll still do everything I can to help your family. But I hope you'll stay, for Wade's sake, and for your own."

Marie and Logan exchanged a glance, their resolve softening. "We'll stay," Marie said quietly. "At least for now. For the kids."

Charles smiled gently. "That's all I ask. Give it a chance. You might find that this place offers more than you expected. I'll transfer the some files about the classes and the students files to your rooms tonight. "

-

Wade, Ken, and Laura roamed the mansion with Storm and Scott, with Wade leading the way, his energy seemingly endless. The moment they hit the hallways, Wade's antics began. Wade grinned, dragging Ken and Laura along. "Come on, Ken, Laura! Let's see if we can find out where they keep the good snacks. I did promised you those big cookies after all!"

Scott, trailing behind, was clearly struggling to keep his composure. "Wade, there's a cafeteria for that. Please don't go rummaging through the kitchens."

Wade spun around, walking backward as he talked. "Oh, come on, Cyke! Where's the fun in that? You've got to live a little! Or at least let us live a little—after all, I'm a growing boy, and these two need sugar to keep up with me!"

Scott flinched slightly at the nickname but kept his tone even. "Don't call me Cyke. I don't think that you guys need that much sugar…"

"Sure thing, Cap'n! But you forgot that we had high metabolism because of our healing factors, we need sugar!" Wade shot back with a grin as he gave Scott a mock salute. "By the way, what do you actually do around here? Aside from glaring at things, of course."

Scott's jaw tightened, and he quickly glanced at Storm, who gave him a subtle nod. "We both teach. I also teach and lead some extracurricular activities. And I make sure kids like you don't get into too much trouble."

"Like crashing the planes?" Wade quipped, his tone a mix of sarcasm and challenge.

Scott sighed heavily. "Like crashing the planes."

"Cool, that's mean my street creds as a troublemaker is up into a good start!"

Storm, sensing the tension, tried to lighten the mood. "Wade, we also would love to formally apologized to you, our radar should have pick you up when you are running towards us,"

Wade sidled up closer to her, his grin returning. "Anything for you, Weather Queen. Besides, I got to steal and fly a plane! Landing it just another matter which I 'definitely' not gonna do again." He said as he winked at his brother, who holds giggles with his hand in his mouth.

But beneath his playful banter, Storm could see the hurt in his eyes. She felt it too—the guilt of knowing that they'd left too soon, missed a chance to help him sooner. "We're glad you made it here safely, Wade. Really."

"Safe? What's that? Never heard of it. If I knew what it was, I would probably not crashed the plane and yoinking both of baby siblings out with a single parachute up in the air! You see my uncle, he didn't really do that talk about safe and responsibilities y'know. We tried to practice it once but he ended up with a bunch of dicks in his faces, do you want to see the pics? Because I have it! Anyway about that 'some extracurricular activities', do you accept new members? Cause I kinda interested on that!" Wade just yapping away trying to change the subjects back to the suspected 'some extracurricular activities' trying to fish for more intel.

(I don't think they gonna let you in, dude)

We still had the Avengers and The Defenders if you still wanted to belong to a group.

-

The night was quiet, almost unnervingly so, given the whirlwind of emotions that had swept through the mansion just hours earlier. Logan and Marie had finally managed to tuck their children—their children—into bed. But as peaceful as the scene before them was, neither could find comfort in it. Instead, they were left to wrestle with the guilt and devastation that had gnawed at them since Wade and his siblings had appeared in their lives once more.

Logan stood at the doorway of the room where Ken and Laura were now sleeping, their small forms barely making a dent in the large beds. Wade, despite his boundless energy, was finally quiet in sleeping in a chair in the same room, refusing to sleep in bed with his siblings. The soft sound of their breathing should have been soothing, but it only served as a reminder of how much time had been lost—seven years—a lifetime for the children, stolen by forces that neither he nor Marie had been able to stop.

Marie joined Logan at the door, her eyes fixed on the sleeping children, a sorrowful expression etched on her face. Her hand found his, and she squeezed it, seeking comfort in the shared pain.

"Logan… how could we have forgotten them?" she whispered, her voice trembling with the weight of her guilt. "Seven years… we left them in that place, and we didn't even know. What kind of parents does that make us?"

Logan's heart clenched at the anguish in her voice. He wanted to tell her it wasn't their fault, that they had been doing what they needed to survive, but the words felt hollow in his throat. Instead, he tightened his grip on her hand, offering silent support. "We're gonna make it right, Marie. We have to."

She nodded, tears glistening in her eyes. "We lost so much time with them, Logan. Wade… he should've been starting school long time ago, learning, playing… not surviving whatever horrors they put him through. And Ken and Laura… God, they were just babies."

Logan swallowed hard, the image of Sabertooth's sneer flashing in his mind. The bastard had taunted them, hinting that Wade might already be dead or worse, and it had taken every ounce of self-control Logan had not to tear him apart on the spot, brother or not. But the fear had burrowed deep inside him, the fear that they might be too late. "We'll find a way to make up for it, Marie. They're here now, and we're not gonna lose them again."

Marie wiped at her eyes, trying to steady herself. "The Professor… after he promised he'd help us find Wade if we stayed. Said he'd use Cerebro, and that Storm and Cyclops would come with us but it just failed. I just… I don't know if I can really trust them. To think that they actually find their own way here, to us... Logan, I felt like a failure."

Logan nodded. They had agreed to stay at the mansion for a couple of days before Wade and his siblings crashed their plane into the yards. While they decided if joining the X-Men was the right path. The Professor had also offered them roles as teachers—Logan teaching history and self-defense or PE, Marie taking on art classes as well as some self-defense—but the real incentive had been the promise of having their family at least together again, without having to life of nomads life they always lives. They agreed that it was not a good lifestyle for raising childern.

"I'm not sure about staying here long-term, Marie," Logan admitted, his voice gruff. "But if there's a chance we can make it out to him… if there's a chance we can give these kids something resembling a normal life, we have to consider it."

Marie's gaze softened as she looked at him, a mixture of love and pain in her eyes. "I know. And maybe… maybe this is a way to atone, you know? For not being there for them when they needed us most. We can't get those years back, but we can be here for them now."

Logan sighed, the weight of their shared regret pressing down on him. "We didn't have a choice back then. We didn't even know they existed. Those bastard really messing with our lives. But now… now we've got a shot at making it right and I'm not gonna waste it."

Marie leaned into him, resting her head against his shoulder. "Do you think they'll forgive us?"

Logan was silent for a moment, his eyes drifting back to the sleeping forms of Ken and Laura. "Seeing how they all actually trying to find us, they already started to forgive us, It is now for us to held up the other side of the bargains, Darlin'"

Marie nodded, closing her eyes as she tried to take comfort in his words. "I just hope we're strong enough to give them what they need, Sugar."

"We are," Logan said firmly. "From now on…"
