Family is everything.

That is a mantra we grow up hearing. Our parents drill it into our heads, their parents drilled it into their heads, we will probably do the same to our kids, brainwashing them to believe that they should risk everything for family. We are told to put family first yet when we find a significant other, we are expected to make them the most important thing in our lives. Some might say that they become family, but they become family after we put them on a pedestal in our lives. This was madness. Life was one big contradiction.
