章節 6: Roaming, and dying

My day started with a lovely hum being directed into my ears which woke me up from my restless sleep, and I guessed it was probably my new mom singing it.

My eyes opened once again, but this time it wasn't the sky I was facing, but a wooden ceiling.

Sunlight streamed into my eyes and I rubbed them. Then raised my arms, and was somehow not shocked. They were tiny, though not as much as of a newborn, which possibly meant only one thing - I had been successfully reincarnated and isekai'd in some other world.

I glanced towards my right and saw a window through which sunlight was coming through. Then slowly got up, feeling better than yesterday, but still had a tired essence so opened the window for some fresh air.

What I got was way better.

The air was as fresh as it could ever get and went straight up my nose, choking me. The air in my previous world was not as fresh as it was here, hence making me a little dizzy.

I turned to look at the rest of the room, and thankfully sighed on seeing that it was a normal room and had nothing much unique or fascinating.

My bed was on one side of the room, with the window on the adjacent wall and right opposite to the bed was a staircase going downstairs. Additionally, a flower vase consisting of a handful of yellow, red and purple flowers, a wooden table and desk, a bookshelf and a cupboard for my use were there.

The bed I was in had a comfortable mattress with a springy feel to it, making it (for me) the perfect bed for sleeping.

I wanted to go down for a couple more hours, but then changed my mind and decided to go out and explore this world little by little, so I got out of bed, and walked down the staircase, holding the railing.

Mom wasn't there. I suspected that she'd gone out to tend to the shrubs and maybe some other plants as well. The rest of the house was indeed thankfully normal as well. There were a sofa, a small kitchen, a dining table with four chairs, something that resembled a fridge and a couple of portraits.

There wasn't anything on the table to eat, so I walked out of the house and thought of looking for her, but then saw her right outside the gate.

"Oh, you're up?" she asked. She had the same outfit on her as yesterday, but somehow looked fresher, and her eyes were sparkling with excitement, and her glowing.

"Hey mom," I said. "I'm hungry, is there something to eat?"

She thought for a couple of seconds, then answered, "No, there's nothing as of now; everything got finished yesterday, so let's go hit the shops today. Let today mark the first official day of your arrival."

Looks like she already knew what I was planning to do.

I changed into a set of brown pyjamas, white tees with a black jacket, boots and a straw hat while she remained in what she was wearing, though she did put on a hat as well; the sun was bright.

The shops were a long way from our home. It would've been better if we had teleported straight there but then mom could make teleport portals which lead to our home, so they would not be of any use. She asked me if I wanted to go by the sky, but I declined the offer, as I wanted to see this world through my eyes, from the regular level without stressing someone for my sake.

We started walking, and I realised just how much more beautiful this world was. The main path was neither cemented nor muddy, but of possible clay. There were all colourful sorts of trees, which might've looked odd, but they blended in so well with the surroundings that it felt bypassing logic. Greenery went as far as I looked, the air still as fresh. Birds chirped from high in the trees and there was a lake on one side of the path containing fish, some of which were caught by the birds in the trees which dived in the lake. They resembled the birds that I knew as 'Ceryle', which used to prey on fish from the lakes, and used to dive in the water at such speed that a blink would make you miss their move. Some prototypes were made of them and used in the army against the demons; ah, how those days went by.

After walking quite a considerable distance and somewhat tiring myself, I could see a couple of shops in the distance; they didn't look much different from the countryside houses from that world, but then chances were of some common things amongst these two worlds, although one difference was quite evident; one world was dead, the other alive

"Wow," I thought. There were more shops than I'd expected, all of different types. There were grocery stores with the majority of fruits and vegetables pretty similar, restaurants which I had no idea served what, an equipment store which I guessed was for the army or for those who wanted to participate in the army, a clothing store and a couple more that I didn't recognise.

We headed into a restaurant named 'Apricate', which was a little distant from the rest of the shops. The base floor did not have any seats, but only a place to look at the food put up for display, and order there, which would in a few minutes be delivered to us on the floor above. I didn't know what to order so mom ordered for both of us, and then we went upstairs.

"The view and the food, both are fabulous. You'll love it," she said happily and confidently.

As we went up the floor, there was no view that I could view. Other than a table and two chairs, the entire area was empty, which was quite spacious. I wondered whether there'd be some type of hologram or illusion, but then it won't be as enjoyable as a real scenery.

We sat across each other, and two glasses of water appeared out of nowhere, but not surprising as such because you know, _previous incidents_.

"Hey mom, where's the view you were talking about excitedly?" I asked dejectedly.

She answered, still in high spirits, "Patience, Os. You'll see quite a few things once the food arrives."

The food was brought in within a few minutes, but it wasn't 'someone' who brought it. It came floating right in the air, as if an invisible person was bringing it.

The tray set itself on the table, consisting of 4 dishes, and a note with a text on it, which spoke, like literally spoke as a human, "Apricate refers to basking in the sunlight, hence enjoy your food in the sunshine," then vanished into thin air with a small *poof*.

Suddenly, the dark area became slightly brighter, with light streaming in from the top, focused on a small portion on the table.

And then, we were automatically almost teleported to the roof at not a (thankfully) very high speed and hence I did not get nauseous.

Mom was right.

The view was totally uncalled for, and was understandable why they would set it up a little far from the other shops.

It's better to have a little scenery while seeing people shop in the market than simply seeing people wander about.

This world was mysterious in its own ways, but that mysteriousness was enjoyable at least till now.

And there were not just one, two or five tables. There were more than fifteen tables, and all of them totally packed. I wondered and started salivating on the taste of the food, and on why there was no line outside the shop.

Mom laughed and said, "Eat up, little buddy. We have a lot to do everyday, starting today. We won't be eating outside everyday, so enjoy as much as you can today since we'll be more focused towards our work tomorrow onwards."

I realised the food was already there, and looked at it, but it resembled no dish that I had ever seen.

I tasted it, and,

Oh.

My.

God.

Heavenly, how much it was, that tears streamed from my eyes. It was the best thing I had ever tasted.

"Issoogooddd," I said with my mouth full of food, and went over three dishes very fast.

She grinned at me as if to say "Didn't I tell ya." She ate hers at half the speed.

Once we finished all our food, mom set the money on the tray, which looked like gold coins; except they were more yellowish. The coins were absorbed into the tray, and then the table went down the same way it came up. Afterwards, we went down the restaurant from the roof itself through a ladder that became visible once we went towards the rails.

We went off from there to buy some clothes, groceries, some gems which mom didn't tell me why she needed, but I thought that they were probably for decoration, then we went to a park which were surprisingly the same types as in the previous world.

The sun had started to set. The day had begun to come to an end.

But

It was an extremely enjoyable first day.

After I was done enjoying myself, we headed back home.

"How did you like today, Os?" mom asked.

Oh how much I enjoyed, how less I could express it. Yes, I was a reincarnated and isekai'd twenty-four year old male, yet I used to suppress my childish self because of the my duty, but luckily I had retained it. And that made someone happy.

Well, looks like we had had a good day and now I would be off to sleep.

(not over yet, keep reading)

[Time of being awoken - 4 in the morning

Time of returning the previous day - 8 in the evening]

"Osvaldo, wake up son," someone spoke.

My eyes snapped open, and I sat upright at once, and looked in the direction of the voice.

"Oh, you're a quick waker, that's nice," they said.

The lights turned on.

"Did I frighten you?"

It was her.

"Mom, what are you doing at this hour?" I asked.

"I told you we're gonna have some different things to do right? Your day starts from now. Get up, I'll be your teacher, starting now."

She then snapped her fingers, and out we were on some field, both of us changed into different clothes. She wasn't wearing the same dress anymore, but had some type of an armour. Not the army types, but some nature related armour, and a transparent....shield? It covered her entire self.

She stood a foot away from me, and said, "Os, the first thing that I'm gonna teach you is to open the *mis* screen. It'll show the powers and amount of mana you have, plus the amount you spend and have left and it'll disappear once you start moving your whole body physically i.e., you'll have to be stable to see your stats. If you're in an extremely critical condition, the screen will appear on itself, and will be visible till you go out, which is when you're close to death."

She said this without any hesitation in her voice, and it should've made her look like a psycho, but it somehow didn't to me.

"Hold out your palm, and say - neercs nepo," she said.

I did as she instructed, and spoke - neercs nepo.

And out projected a screen; a partially opaque one from my palm.

It was totally simple, but it showed all the powers I had, the amount of mana I had, and my weaponry, along with how to use everything.

Dang, this world grew more and more amazing each moment.

I checked for the teleportation handle first as that would be the most handy, and the one I would have to level up the most to bring up to more than a competitive level.

For teleportation, I had to connect my index and middle finger once.

However, the good surprise was that, I didn't have to use any special elements or stuff as such to use my powers. That's what it said on the screen.

The technique for spell casting and physique enhancing in both worlds were the same. Regeneration would happen on its own as and when required.

"Os," mom said, bringing me back to face her.

Suddenly, she lunged towards me at a high speed.

And she was expressionless.

"Goodbye"
