Leia fidgeted with her hands.

"You are already aware that we are not humans, so I am going to explain something to you, and hopefully…you will understand." She smiled pessimistically.

Levian was not speaking. He was still trying to process what she had just said. 

Leia began to elucidate, "You see, there is something called mate bond. It occurs to us nonhumans when we find our mate. A mate is like a soulmate." 

"Hmm, just like your sister. She is my brother's soulmate, and my brother is her soulmate. You see when soulmates first meet each other, there is some kind of bond that occurs. It feels like an electric shock." 

"Electric shock…?" Levian asked. 

Leia nodded. "It is only us nonhumans that can vividly feel it. So if a non-human is a soulmate with a human, the human will not really feel it when they cross paths, but the non-human will. However, humans will only get to feel it when their bond becomes stronger."
