章節 13: Project : Gwen, Get!(Second Piece)
Peter Parker has been friends with Gwen ever since they start going to high school. Secretly, the two teenagers have some feelings for one another. As a girl who hasn't have much experience in the wider society due to her overprotective father, George Stacy, Gwen quite like the nerdy and quiet Peter. As he's gentle, and unlike the man who has major part in her life, which is her father.
They both have a secret identity, kept from daylight. As much as Gwen liked Peter, she prefer the daring and strong vigilante, Spider man and looked up to him. That was why she chose to become Spider girl, and followed Spiderman footsteps and become a crime fighter at night.
Not long ago, another man 'accidently' entered her life. A handsome guy named Edward whose age is around her's, who is unfortunately an orphan. He lives alone in a small and cheap flat downtown, working odd jobs to support his life.
The government subsidy were stopped when he reached 18 years old, and with no money, there's no way for Edward to further his study.
Since Edward were forced to live depending on his own ever since he was young, he became a street smart guy and knew his way around to handle most situation.
What Gwen didn't expect when she and her friends brought him back to his place is, she saw complex formulas being sticked to the walls. As a top student back in her high school, Gwen have a bit more knowledge on mathematics, physics, and chemistry compared to her peers. She aspired to be a proper scientist after all, and she studied hard to even reach her current point.
However, even with her higher than average knowledge, she couldn't understand the formulas and equations on the walls except for bits of it.
'Looks like he has more than what meets the eye.' Gwen eyes shone with curiosity.
Her friends didn't took notice of the formulas and equations on the walls and thought nothing of it. As Edward is just a middle school graduate, they thought that the writings on the wall to be nothing more than lines and dots for decoration. How can a guy with lesser formal education than them know more? But Gwen knew that Edward's probably a genius.
As the girls converse with each other and Edward, Gwen's eyes were still fixed on the writings, lines and dots, on the walls.
Edward noticed Gwen's curiosity with a glance and he smirked internally.
"That scribbles you're looking at is my completed proto S. Serum formula." Edward said with a smile. His head facing straight at Gwen. Noticing Edward's voice being directed to her, Gwen shift her gaze and it land on Edward's face.
"Completed prototype? You've succeeded?" Gwen's heart skipped a beat as she asked.
Though she has been an intern at Oscorp labs, the sexism is too generalized that she couldn't observe real experiments first hand. Although she didn't know what that 'S.' stood for, there's only low chance of it to means something not worth while.
"The effects isn't actually what I expect, but at least I've got proper data to continue." Edward nodded. The other girls felt confused and feel disconnected to what Edward and Gwen is discussing on. They suddenly felt like they've been slacking off too much. All they could do from that moment on, is gaped awkwardly hearing Edward and Gwen talking back and forth.
As the conversation between Gwen and Edward drags on longer, the other girls chose to excuse themself. They did invite Gwen to go, but the latter insist on staying. If anything happens to Gwen, Edward would be the first guy that'll get into trouble. With that in mind, they no longer urge Gwen to leave with them.
After her friends left the small flat apartment where Edward lives, the two continue their talk. Gwen wasn't really concerned about her safety as she's not just any of them weak girls. She has superpower. She's confident that she can keep herself safe.
Starting from that day, Gwen became a frequent guest to Edward's place and she took that advantage to learn some high level knowledge from Edward.
Starting from some few days ago, a supervillain by the name of Günnborg starts terrorizing and trespassing important R&D locations for various companies. Including Stark Industries, Oscorp Industries, and even Hammer Industries. Stealing valuable research papers, ingredients, and materials. Many details were left out from reports as those big companies refuse to let out more details about the incident.
The supervillain seems to be a genius that used Cybernetic Humanoid Androids as his 'army'. This matter's no longer about the muggers and robbers she's been dealing with. However, Gwen felt that she need to do something to stop this evil super genius from disrupting the peace of New York city.
Four superheroes banded together to stop Günnborg. The three of them are Iron Man, Engine King, Spider man, and Spider girl.
