The Date
The sun beamed brightly in the sky, casting a warm glow upon the world as Sunday morning unfolded. Regrettably, I had overslept, only to discover that Simon was already prepared for his highly anticipated date. He radiated excitement, his shirt meticulously ironed, his hair impeccably combed and gleaming, and his shoes spotless. The aroma of roses lingered around him, a testament to the perfume he had purchased, intending to present it to Trina upon their meeting. Without delay, he ventured out for his rendezvous, and, like any concerned friend, I trailed behind, simply ensuring his safety.
Simon's excitement was palpable as he murmured about the wonders of his upcoming date. Little did he know that fate had a cruel twist in store. Along the way, he caught sight of beautiful flowers and, aspiring to be the epitome of a gentleman, purchased a couple of roses to offer Trina when he picked her up. With determined steps, he proceeded to meet her, oblivious to my presence as the ever-watchful friend. They reunited and made their way to the restaurant they had chosen earlier. They ascended to the secluded top floor, Simon gallantly grasping Trina's hand, attempting to create an enchanting ambiance while maintaining his chivalry. As they settled into their seats, perusing the menu to decide on their orders, Simon temporarily failed to acknowledge my existence—just the normal friend.
Once their choices were made, Simon descended to place their order, returning promptly with their meals. They sat down, prepared to embark on their date. For a while, a calm and quiet atmosphere prevailed, both of them seemingly immersed in their respective dishes. Sensing the silence and realizing that their purpose for being there extended beyond mere consumption, Simon sought to initiate a conversation. However, he failed to grasp the distinction between conversing over the phone and engaging face-to-face. Each attempt petered out prematurely, leaving them both feeling shy and incapable of sustaining a continuous dialogue.
At one point, Simon noticed a streak of ketchup adorning Trina's mouth. He kindly pointed it out, but despite her efforts, she couldn't entirely rid herself of the stain. Seeing her struggle, Simon offered to assist, using his hands to wipe it away. In an instant, a surge of heat coursed through Trina's body, awakening her femininity. Her expression transformed rapidly, although Simon remained blissfully unaware, lost in his own thoughts. Gazing at Trina's soft, solitary lips, he yearned to hold her in his arms. His wish materialized as she abruptly kissed him, her actions brimming with timidity and haste. In that fleeting moment, Simon realized her interest in him, and it emboldened him. Yielding to his desires, he reciprocated, seizing the opportunity, forsaking caution to savor the intoxicating allure.
Yet, in the midst of their passionate exchange, Simon's conscience stirred, reminding him of the precarious path he tread. He toyed with fire, entangling himself in a web of deceit, deceiving two girls who genuinely loved him and desired nothing more than his happiness. He abruptly halted the kiss, on the verge of confessing his tangled emotions. But in that moment, he faltered, unable to lay bare his true intentions, at least not yet. He assured Trina that nothing was amiss, and oblivious to the turmoil brewing within Simon's convoluted mind, she accepted his words without inquiry. Grateful for the chance to kiss the man she had grown to care for, Trina reveled in the happiness of their shared moment. As they concluded their meal, they returned home, and upon reaching, Simon immediately went for a nap not even considering how serious the issue at hand was and the mess he might have stirred up for himself.
