章節 14: Another case
After collecting the cow fodder shastri began to wait for leela's call. As he stood Viraj's message came.
Viraj wanted to give him party for solving the case so quickly and efficiently. But shastri quickly replied him back saying to transfer him the consulting fee, so that he can treat himself for solving the case so quickly and efficiently. Viraj's face considerably blackened.
But thinking of his sister's request him he had to ask him again" Sir, can you please come as of now? I need your assistance right now."
"What is the hurry? Is it regarding yesterday's case? But we have already collected enough evidences for them to get jailed."
"Well the thing is that... my sister wanted to discuss some case with you."
"Not interested"
"Sir, but I think it is interesting case. It involves my colleague also."
"Have you told about my consultancy charges? Is your colleague willing to pay?" shastri asked after considering carefully.
"Yeah...I have." Viraj answered nervously.
"If you inform it or not, it is not my problem….. But just remember the increasing interest rates. But I have to the take the cow fodder to my home."
"I will make an auto arrangement to your home. So can you meet me at Hotel Shantala now?" viraj asked feeling duped.
"Wait a minute. I will have to come with a friend of mine. You can go inside the hotel if you want to. I will find you there" shastri answered. Then he began waiting for leela.
After leela came shastri said in a nonchalant voice," As your grandfather has told me to bring you home safely, I can't leave you. So can you attend a meeting with me?"
"Well. I did love to." Leela answered smilingly.
Shastri ignored the smiling face and said," If you are coming with me there are rules to follow:
1. Don't interrupt the the conversation.
2. Don't try to act cute in front of me.
3. If you want to, you can listen. Don't try giving your opinions"
"Alright?" shastri asked to which leela nodded. Then Shastri began to walk toward shantala hotel.
Hotel Shantala was anything but a hotel. It was safe to say that it was a restaurant rather than a hotel. In his younger days, the owner of the hotel was a returnee from Bangalore. He thought the name hotel was impressive and named his restaurant 'Hotel Shantala'.
But there the similarity ended. It had no boarding and lodging facility. But the food was very good. That is why shastri had also been the fan of the hotel from his younger days.
As shastri and leela entered the hotel they saw viraj and his sister vimala talking at the corner. They spotted shastri and greeted him. Then they began looking at leela curiously.
"She was the friend I was taking about. Now can we get on with the business?" Shastri asked.
Seeing that shastri had no intention to introduce further, they sat down. After ordering for four teas viraj began speaking.
"Well the thing is that....this case has happened near Varthur circle which is not under my area. It has really baffled the police officers there. Moreover my sister is one of the witness in the case. So can you help me out?"
"It is up to me to accept the case. But I should also be aware regarding the facts of the case. So can you or your sister tell me in details the facts of the case?"
At that time Vimala began to speak," Well the thing is confusing to us also. I will try to be as descriptive as possible-
Near Varthur circle there is a college called Nayak's Degree College. Currently I am studying there. Now this thing happened a few days ago..."
"Continue" encouraged shastri.
"Well, I have a close friend called Nikita. She was studying in my class and she is also my dorm mate. She is from economically well to do family. We would have fun together. But everything changed after she came from this semester holidays.
"She would sit in the corridor alone and did not join anybody. She began to talk less and less. We tried to findout the reason.But she would not speak at all."
"Did she have a mobile phone? Did you check it?"
"Yeah, she would move out of the corridor when a phone call came and would always move in the corridor after one to two hours."
"That basically confirms that she was in love. But did you check her mobile phone. Did not you try to find out who would be her boyfriend? I find that college students are usually active in these things." asked shastri, his eyes glinting mischievously.
"We tried to find out" vimala answered, sounding a little flustered." But she would always burst to tears whenever we asked about it. So we tried to speculate who it might be, but we did not even come close"
"Ok, so now is my task is to find out who nikita's boyfriend is? Honestly, I find it pretty boring" Shastri said.
" No.We want you to find about the whereabouts of Nikita."
"Means?" Shastri asked, sounding a little confused.
"Means, that she is missing" Leela answered. Then she immediately shut her mouth.
