章節 119: Guiding Mana

Guys, enjoy the weekend bonus chapter.

.....

"May I ask what you said?" Bradley, who had been fussing for a while, finally seized the opportunity to interject.

"Teaching magic? That's something only high-level magicians can do. Are you suggesting you've reached that level?" However, this time, Jack couldn't be bothered to engage in further discussion.

While adding a few thousand more words might not pose a significant issue, it could drive away all the readers. That wouldn't do!

"How about you take a guess?" Jack responded with a cryptic answer, nearly leaving Bradley speechless.

"Do you want to worry about what comes next?" Jack patted Bradley on the shoulder and led Hermia away. "As for you, continue showcasing those low-quality magic tricks to make money. We'll be busy studying for a while, and when it's time to take action, we'll let you know. How does that sound?" Jack asked with a mischievous grin.

"Don't talk bullshit!" Bradley retorted with anger. "What I'm doing is perfectly legal!"

....

The plan wasn't set to begin immediately. In addition to teaching Hermia how to use magic, Jack needed to familiarize himself with the tax laws of this era and undergo the IRS employee recruitment process.

During this phase, Hermia's involvement was unnecessary. Jack intended to convince the assessors to "reasonably" bypass formalities and issue him an IRS ID.

However, beyond that point, he would require Hermia's assistance. As an IRS, Jack couldn't use hypnosis on his superiors to secure favorable transaction terms; it would undoubtedly be flagged as an illegal transaction by the system.

But if someone other than an IRS, acting on behalf of Jack, "coincidentally" used hypnosis on their boss to agree to Jack's terms... would that still be considered illegal? Jack wasn't sure; in his previous world, he never had such an opportunity to experiment.

It's frustrating when your subordinates aren't as powerful, and you can't discern your boss's thoughts! It wasn't until now that Jack realized there was a psychic individual in this world, reigniting his scheme.

"I won't reveal my plan; I'll let my colleagues figure it out on their own. Would that still be considered a violation?" Jack contemplated. This was precisely why he wanted to teach Hermia. If he executed it himself, it would be too straightforward, and any money he made wouldn't count as experience points.

Intentionally manipulating transactions to achieve personal gain was deemed illegal and wouldn't contribute to experience points. What was Jack striving for so diligently? Experience points, of course!

So, if Hermia were trained and used hypnosis, while Jack handled the transactions, would it skirt the boundaries of an illegal transaction? In essence, Jack was attempting to work out a few kinks this time around! If it succeeded -

Jack cast a glance at Hermia.

"So..."

Caitriona felt an unexpected gaze from Jack, and it sent a shiver down her spine. She couldn't shake the sensation that she was constantly under scrutiny, like a butterfly pinned to a board. Eager to break the uncomfortable silence, she blurted out, "So, are you going to teach me something?"

Jack, wearing a sly grin, contemplated for a moment. "Well," he said with a hint of mischief in his eyes, "If I were to tell you that we should stand face to face, naked, you'd probably accuse me of trying to play some naughty game, wouldn't you?"

He raised an eyebrow playfully. "What's your take on that?"

Hermia couldn't help but roll her eyes at his cheeky remark.

Jack let out a sigh and then continued more seriously, "Alright, alright, I won't tease you any further. But, in all seriousness, I do need to have physical contact with you. I must sense the surge of mana within your body and guide you step by step on how to release your magic."

Hermia blinked, clearly puzzled. "What do you mean?"

With a dismissive wave of his hand, Jack replied, "Don't worry, I won't make this any more awkward. But, it's crucial for me to feel the flow of mana within you and provide corrections. It's the foundation of mastering magic."

Jack had his sights set on acquiring the magic books from the The Eye. Learning magic was one thing, but understanding its fundamental principles was another.

He pondered aloud, "What is magic truly composed of? I've been using it based on instinct, guided by the system. I wield it like a weapon, but I have no idea about its inner workings, its principles, or the reasons behind its effects."

Jack likened it to someone who always wielded a finely crafted weapon but had no knowledge of its construction, its mechanisms, or why it yielded certain results.

With a grasp of the basics, Jack believed he could potentially deduce new forms of magic without relying solely on the system's guidance. Moreover, once he mastered the foundational knowledge, he could teach magic to others more efficiently, without the need for a step-by-step approach.

He sighed, exasperated. "Why does it have to be so complicated?"

But as he glanced at Hermia, who appeared drained after the influx of mana, lying exhausted on the sofa with a rosy blush on her cheeks and rapid breaths.
