Varya was thrown into a cement room like a prisoner. She had been traveling for a day and still hadn't been given any clothing or explanation as to why she was taken so suddenly.
When she was grabbed out of Basileus's bed, the blanket came with her and it was her only comfort. Every time she was left alone, she would cocoon herself in the blanket and silently cry. However, this time, no tears came. She was dehydrated and exhausted.
Happiness had been in her grasp for what felt like a moment only for it to be ripped out again. It was always the same person to torment her. She wondered what kind of quality of life it was to never be allowed happiness. The coldness of her life was pushing her to want to die. The more evil that crept into her life, the less she believed the afterlife existed. It devastated her to realize her parents weren't somewhere waiting for her.
