Grace's breath hitched. She could feel the heat radiating off his body, the way his hands gripped her waist with a possessive intensity. She tried to think or form coherent words, but her mind was clogged with confusion and an unnerving desire for Jace.

"Jace, this isn't right," she managed to say in a trembling voice.

Jace's eyes softened slightly, but his grip didn't loosen. "Why not? Why isn't it right?"

"You could get any man you want at the flick of your finger, including me, right?" he teased.

The more Jace repeated what she had said, the more Grace wished for the ground to open so she would hide. She had only said that to mislead Mrs Beaumont and not for his ears.
