But the more they looked at Caden they more convinced they were that he wasn't joking.

All of a sudden, they both stood up at the same time, glared at Caden ferociously, then walked away. It took their years of friendship for them not to beat Caden to a pulp. 

Seeing them walking away, Caden released a sigh of relief but instead of leaving the party directly, why were they scanning the room as if they were on a search party?
