He looked at the stack of files on Jace's desk. "What could be so important about Grace that Jace would risk everything for her?"

There was no one to give him the answers he sought, he could only sigh and get to work. 

He couldn't shake the feeling that his boss was no longer in control of his own reasoning. He was now a living robot, and his remote was tightly clasped in Ms Fowler's hand.

As Jace drove towards the hospital, his thoughts were consumed with his cousin. 

The idea of Trent using this situation to force Grace into a relationship made his blood boil. He knew his deranged cousin well enough to predict Trent's manipulative tactics. 

He only prayed that Grace would be able to hold out long enough and not be forced into his trap.

More than ever, he realized how much he wanted to keep Grace close and protect her from any man.
