章節 9: Chapter 09

|Mc pov|

'Shinso, thank you for earlier but there was no need.. i think i have an idea on the matter.' Thinking to myself, i sat back on a small wooden crate. My back leaning against the window, looking out of it, and then to what was in front of me. Rubbing my sword hilt a bit as I thought on a few things.

Fire flickered and cast shadows that moved across my face, dancing from the candles that were lit around the fair sized home, seeing the girl work diligently on zaraki. Her hands shaking as a light came from them slowly.

"Iyashi no Ryōgae.." the girl said, pressing on zaraki's body as my eyes opened a little. Seeing a cut starting to open on her back. Moving over to her i touched her arm.

"What are you.. uh, uh, doing." The girl stopped, feeling my touch as i stood behind her. Her eyes full of a strange look as i had a serious face.

"Nothing, do it again please.." i said, wanting to see something for myself as i gripped her shoulder. The light continued as i got my answer. Shaking my head as zaraki's wounds on his body disappeared.

Watching as he coughed but didn't wake up. Seeing his spiritual pressure return to normal as his breathing became steady. I stood there for a moment, seeing the girl take a towel like rag, dipping it in water as she placed it on his forehead. Looking back at the children in the corner who had fallen asleep while this was going on.

'Still not back yet, at least not in side.. seems like he puts a lot of trust in her, but that's to be expected..' I thought, remembering the man had said he was needed else where, he felt he was not needed here after the girl said she had it. Rubbing the girls back and talking in her ear as he whispered before leaving.

"He.. he will, wake up in a.. day or so." The girl said weakly, her body rocking back and forth. I moved forward as she dropped, holding on to her as she fell unconscious. Her eyes moving as she laid in my arms and the corners of them filling with tears.

"Mom, I'll save you.. I-I-I, I promise.." the girl spoke in her dreams as I walked her over to the mat away from everything, placing her down as I wiped her tears away.

'I can't understand the reasons for this coming to be, but it is a fate worse then dealing with the pain.' I thought, placing her down as I walked to the room in the back. Placing my sword at the front of it, I made a movement, something came apart in a burst of blue as i opened the door.

Standing in the center, I held my sword as the moon light shined off it. My face cast over as i looked at what was inside. My smile disappearing as i moved my hand, and walked back to the door. Closing it while I had my head low, walking past Zaraki and the girl as I opened the front door.

Outside the fresh stale air greeted me, seeing the man sit on a wooden box that was in front of the home. He leaned on his knees as he looked out to the town, his glasses shining as he looked over at me.

"I hope that everything is fine.. as for the girl, is she doing ok?" He spoke his eyes full of worry as he looked at me sit next to him. Seeing the look of worry on my face as well.

"He should be fine for now, he is breathing so it is a good sign. The girl is sleeping she really knows her stuff, thank you.." I said, looking up at the moon, seeing the clouds move over head.

"It is no thanks to me, I only showed her what I could.. trying to help her and the others since they had no one else.." the man spoke, his words distant as he leaned back and sighed.

"Still with out your help, I'm sure no one else would have taken them in as you did. Can i ask you something?" I said with a strange look as if I was worried and scared to ask.

"Anything, if I can answer it then I will." The man said, rubbing my back a little as he saw my face.

"What brought you here, your not like the others I've seen.. not this far out from the center rings." I asked, giving off a feeling of a lost child.

"Ah, yes.. I thought you might ask this. Well, you see.. I'm from the center districts. I spent my time not worrying about the world be on mine. Until a unfortunate event or should I say a fortunate event happened. I don't know how but a man from a low ranked district was found outside my home.. the man was wounded so I took him in, no matter how much I wished to report it.. I couldn't. I would go on to heal the man even at my wife's warnings but it worked out for a time. Until the man was seen in my home, the group ruling this place came in search of him and we tried to hide him, but they did not stop. They.. they.. they killed my wife and this made the man come out of his hiding as I was going to be cut down. He told me to run away, and like a coward.. I did. Wandering until I came here, with no one or nothing i stayed in this town until that girls mother, her and her siblings took me in. They showed me kindness and in return I healed who I could, until one day the girl asked me to teach her, and I've been here ever since." The man spoke, his words thick with emotion as he squeezed his fist and even had a tear come to his eye. Wiping them as I patted his shoulder and nodded my head in understanding.

"I'm sorry for that happening to you.. uh." I spoke, trying to find words.

"It's kain.. and it's fine. It feels like a life time ago now." the man spoke as he wiped his face and looked at my sad expression, putting my head down as i thought on it and started to shake.

"Can I ask you.. one more thing, uh, if you don't mind.. umm kain." I said, my words coming out strained as I tried to hold back tears. My face low as i put my hands between my legs and squeezed the box.

"It's ok.. take your time. You can ask me anything, looks like even with a sword. Children will still be children, I don't know your reason for carrying one and I won't ask, here it is ok to be just you." Kain said, rubbing my head as he smiled a small smile and reassured me.

"What.. what.. what happened to her mother." I started with broken speach, until my voice changed into a cold one, looking over to his smile that soon changed as he heard my voice.

His face going through different emotions as he leaned back, looking up to the sky he shook his head. Pushing up his glasses as if trying to find words to say. The air changed as I sat there, my smile returning to my face. Turning to him as the moon shined on my face, with the corner of his eyes he looked at me. Seeing the smile that could only be from someone who saw through another, his face started to change and he finally looked down at me.

"Well damn, I really slipped up huh.. and after all the work i put in to that story. And.. a damn brat, saw through it.." the man looked down, his eyes sharpe and glowing as his face distorted into a twisted smile.

章節 10: Chapter 10

|Mc pov|

Hearing the words of Kain echo in my ear I only sat there, seeing his face twist into a smile. The moon flicking in and out of the clouds above while we both remained sitting. The wind picked up as it blew my hair, the gleam of his glasses shined while his blonde hair blew. We sat there unmoving for what felt like a life time even if it had only been a few minutes.

"So tell me kid.. what gave it away? I thought from your friendliness with the girl and lack of hesitation when we offered help to you two, my little plan had worked. Yet here you are.." Kain spoke while leaning forward his smile disappearing as we both looked at the ground.

"At first, I can't say I truly knew anything about what was happening but that changed when I saw the girl. No matter if this district is poor and racked with crime. How could a girl have wounds like that if she didn't take up the sword. Then the home no matter how much you tried to manipulate it, there is no mistaking that feeling that permeates it. Along with that smell you give off, there is no way I would mistake it." I spoke looking at the ground while I smiled a little, feeling a force come off Kain's body while he pushed his glasses back on his face.

"I went through all this work, setting up here so no one would suspect anything. Then again your not exactly normal.. are you? I didn't think I would need to worry in this shit hole of a town but that doesn't really matter now. Let me ask you, what do you mean by smell?" Kain leaned in speaking with a voice of Curiosity, tilting his head as more of the strange force came off his body. It glowed a dark green around him while he looked at my face, that was still looking at the ground and his smile grew a little. Taking a breath in through his nose as if trying to smell himself.

"Death.. the smell of blood. No matter how much someone tries to get rid of it.. if you have killed you can always smell it. Yours is different from others but you reek of the smell, I am no one to judge though. So let me ask you this, why? Why this girl and why her family?" I asked looking out to the trees that blew as Kain stood up. Leaning over to me his smile now only a grin. Tilting his head at my question while he stepped back a little before speaking.

"What does it matter now? After all it's not like i could find use for the girl forever, there is no use in telling someone.. who is already dead." Kain's eyes glowed while he put his arms crossed behind his back, looking at blood that sprayed on the window and wall of the houses front door. His eyes becoming invisible behind the glasses as he smiled.

'What a pitiful state, I can not change what has already happened. Nor will it help until you are willing to overcome it.. but I will show you.' I thought as my head hung low and blood came from my shoulder. Before my face dropped I got a glimpse. A glimpse of crazed eyes, a twisted smile, blonde like hair and a short katana that stabbed me. It pinned me to the wall as I heard the man step forward.

"You did well.. I thought I could talk him down but he was set on killing her. To put her out of her misery. I'm sorry it had to come to this.." Kain's voice changed to a calm one while he walked to the girl that had a strained look and smile. Rubbing her head and pulling her close as he hugged her.

"I I I, I didn't mean to.. what do i do?! I I I.. killed." The girl started to stutter, breaking down. Feeling Kain's hug she held on to him and cried. Kain dropped to one knee making her look at him while he leaned in, pulling her forward as he kissed her forehead.

"Stop, it is fine.. I'm right here. You can't quit on me or her now ok? I need you to move him while i deal with the place to put them. Do you understand, I need you to kill the other inside for me ok?" Kain spoke sweetly to her while at first she shook, when she heard a few words in the sentence her eyes became clouded and she shook her head.

'It's going to be a shame when I have to kill her.. I really like this puppet. Maybe I'll keep her corpse..' Kain thought while he nodded to her, pulling her into another hug. Before standing and moving to eliminate his other 'play things'.

The girls eyes watched him leave with a strange smile before she turned her head back to my body. Her eyes glowing while she pulled the katana out of my arm, throwing it to the side as she reached out to me. Her arm bending up while her eyes bulged a little.

"That was a strange conversation, do you know what he is talking about?" Standing I spoke as I help the girl by her neck, squeezing as her arms clawed at me. Shaking my head I punched her in the stomach, watching as spit came from her mouth and her body bent.

"Maybe it's better if I show you first hand." I said dragging her with me inside, walking passed the still sleeping Zaraki as I walked to the back door. While we got closer to the door, she swung her arms around in a strange fashion and started to freak out.

"No.. no no! You can't go in there mother is still sick! Please don't.. don't hurt her!" The girl yelled as I cut the door down, her eyes opening as she saw a woman sitting on the bed. She saw her Long black hair touched by the moon light, her face full of smiles as she turned to the girl.

"Honey what's wrong? You know you can't come in here. Not with out Kain." The woman spoke in a sweet voice while she moved her hair.

"Mother! I'm sorry! You have to.. Uh." The girl tried to say getting her neck squeezed by me. Her eyes struggling to look over to me as I shook my head.

"You think so little of your mother? I expected you to tell the difference.." sighing I pulled my sword, looking at the bed.

"Pl-Ple-please don't, don't hurt.. ah, hurt her!" The girl squeezed out some words watching me point my sword at her mother. Only to be shocked as blood sprayed, closing her eyes shut to the sounds of it hitting the wall.

'Why did I trust him.. why would I bring this. This monster here, now.. now she's gone. I'm so stupid I should have let the boy die. I can't do anything, I hate this, I hate all of this! I hate myself for being so weak. And most of all I hate this monster!' The girls world crashed around her as she went over what happened. If she just stayed inside none of this would have happened but now here she was. Weak and unable to fight back. She wanted to run to her siblings. Run away from this place and find Kain but she couldn't. Still in her mind most of all she wanted to kill this boy.

'Interesting. I can see why he took a interest In her.' I thought flicking my sword and looking at the girl. Her body started to shake as I looked down the hall, feeling her body shake more as her spiritual pressure started to grow.

"That's enough. Open your eyes to the world around you. If you wish to hate me then do so but you let that thing trick you, and that is.. something you'll have to live with." I raised my spiritual pressure a little, suppressing her as I drop her to the floor.

"Stop talking!..ah!" The girl yelled only to have her blonde hair grabbed and brought to my face. Her eyes slowly moving from me to the bed as they enlarged.

On the bed there was blood all over, hair, and claw marks. Still that's not what frightened her, it was the dried up corpse of someone laying in the bed. There skin cracked as if it was falling apart and her eyes sunken in a long with her mouth that had her tongue missing. Then to the giant grotesque thing attached to her chest, it's teeth digging in to her dry flesh as it's top was missing. Blood sprayed from it while the body of it wriggled on the bed. At the end it had a tongue it used to call for help in her mothers voice.

"Mom, what is that?! Mother.. no no no. Kain said he would fix her! That we would make her better together. It's a lie! Your.." the girls mind broke down while she looked at the neck less she gave her mother in my hand.

"Stop trying to come up with a way that this is all ok, it's not.. not from your own failure.. but that man you put so much faith in. Cry if you want to but I need to find and kill that man." I wasn't going to comfort her, not because I didn't want to or couldn't but there was no way her mind would accept it right now.

Moving my sword as foot steps and weird screeches could be heard. Flash stepping to Zaraki as the bodies of the two kids, aiko and Koro fell behind the girl. She turned around slowly, looking at the dried up corpses of her little brother and sister. Watching the blood come from the smaller creatures on their chest, holding her hands out to bring them close as her palms became covered in blood.

"I'm.. I'm, i'm.. in hell." She said as she laughed like a mad man, pulling them in to her arms as she cried. I looked back for a moment as my smile disappeared and shook my head. Walking to the door to end this long night.
