章節 1: At Least I’m Human... For Now
What the hell? I blinked, trying to make sense of my surroundings.
The room looked... decent, I guess. There were bottles scattered across the floor, though.
The real problem? I had no clue where I was.
This wasn't my room. Hell, this wasn't even my house.
Sure, I drink sometimes, but not enough to black out and wake up in someone else's place.
"Hello?" I called out, picking up a flask from the floor. Then I froze.
My voice... it sounded softer.
And now that I think about it, my whole body feels weird. Lighter. More energetic.
I glanced around again. Everything looked... sharper, clearer.
"What the hell is going on?" I muttered.
This didn't seem like a kidnapping
nobody would've targeted me. After all, no one knows who I really am.
I'm not a court judge or anything like that. My "Judge" title comes from my other identity the one I use to hunt down and punish the people who slip through the cracks of justice.
I used to be a cop. Used to be. I quit after seeing how messed up the system really was.
I've been on my own since forever. My mum died before I could even remember her, and my dad raised me on his own. He ran a comic book store. Never told me much about his past, but he did everything he could to make sure I could stand on my own two feet.
When he died... yeah, that's when I left the force. I decided to take matters into my own hands. Call it being an anti-hero or whatever.
But this... this wasn't normal.
I caught a glimpse of myself in the mirror and froze.
That wasn't me.
I mean, it was kind of me same face, same black hair but the body? Nope. Not mine.
I'm or I was 6'7. The guy in the mirror? Maybe 6'2, 6'3 tops.
The first word that came to mind: weak.
"Wait a second," I said, staring at my reflection. "Is this... transmigration?"
But I didn't even meet Truck-kun.
I mean, sure, I'm a man of culture I've read enough comics and manga to know how this usually goes. That's what kept me sane all these years. Otherwise? I'd have gone full-on genocidal on the corrupt people ruining everything.
Not to brag, but I was pretty damn good at what I did. I knew how to work people, how to manipulate situations to my advantage.
But this? This was just cliché.
Suddenly, a sharp pain tore through my head. It only lasted a few seconds, maybe a minute, but it felt like an eternity.
When it finally stopped, I realised what had happened.
The memories they weren't mine. They belonged to this body.
Jason Abbey. Same name, same face.
But the world? Oh, shit.
This wasn't just any world. This was Marvel.
Which meant I was totally screwed.
I mean, there's Stark Industries, and yeah, there's a Tony Stark who looks a lot like RDJ.
For a second, I thought maybe I was in the MCU. But no. I wasn't that lucky.
Because this world had mutants.
And if there's one thing I know about Marvel? Mutants mean chaos.
Still, I pushed that thought aside. First things first I needed to figure out if I got some sort of cheat.
"System," I said out loud, feeling a little ridiculous.
A second later, a blue screen popped up in front of me.
System Online.
"Well, looks like my luck's not so bad after all," I muttered.
Now, let's see what kind of system this is.
The words on the screen shifted, revealing the dreaded truth.
Gacha System Activated.
"Oh, come on," I groaned. "Of all the clichés..."
Of course, I knew what gacha was. Everyone does. In fact, one of my favourites is Meta Essence Gacha. Nothing else comes close to that level. People have tried to replicate it, but yeah, good luck.
Funny thing, though. The last gacha story I read had the MC as Pyro. It was decent short chapters, but the world-building and character interactions could've been better. I kept thinking the author had potential but didn't quite hit the mark.
Actually, I've read a bunch of that author's fanfics. There's another Marvel one, also with a gacha system, but the MC is original. Too bad the updates just stopped.
They had a Naruto fic too, where the MC transmigrated as Kakashi. I paused on that one when the story went into Highschool of the Dead. I'm waiting for the arc to finish so I can binge it.
Oh, and there was a Harry Potter one too, but it barely had any chapters.
Anyway, I needed to stop daydreaming about fanfics and focus on my situation. Who knows what could happen next? Maybe Galactus would decide to have Earth for breakfast, or the Living Tribunal would drop by to judge me.
"Alright," I muttered, "let's see what kind of gacha system this is."
The screen flickered, and the details appeared:

I stared at the screen. Honestly, it looked like I'd just joined a new game as a complete newbie. No powers, barely any points... yeah, I wasn't exactly starting strong.
But hey, I had 10 gacha cards. That was something. A little boost to give me confidence.
Still, I needed to see what I could get before I started feeling too optimistic.
Although, I did feel a bit of relief when I saw my race listed as "human" and not "mutant."
Being a mutant in this world? Yeah, that's a whole different level of chaos. Their situation is far from optimistic.
