章節 99: CHAPTER 99: The Dreaded Call

　　The call I'd been dreading would happen since the day Nicola had nearly walked in on Alexander and me in his office, finally came. It happened during lunch break as I was catching up with Via in her office. My phone buzzed with a familiar number and a glance at the screen confirmed my suspicions – Nicola's office.

　　My stomach lurched. What did she want? Had she somehow discovered the truth? The truth that I'd fallen for her brother and was even sleeping with him – a blatant breach of my contract.

　　Via must have noticed the way my smile faltered, replaced by a grimace. "Everything alright, Evie?" she asked, her brow furrowed in concern.

　　"Uh…yeah," I stammered, shoving my phone into my pocket. "Just…work stuff."

　　It was a terrible lie, but I didn't want to burden Via with my anxieties.

　　"Come on, girl, spill."

　　"Nicola called," I admitted, my voice barely above a whisper. "She wants to see me in her office."
