章節 30: Chapter 30 - Preparations
" Bon appetit!!" everyone shouted in unison, and then the Karasuno players began to eat their dinner frantically.
"EAT! EAT! EAT LIKE YOUR LIVES DEPEND ON IT!" shouted Nishinoya.
"Oh yeah guys, when I went to get Hinata when he was lost, he said he was talking to someone who might be from Nekoma," said Sugawara.
"WHAT? You met them?!" asked Tanaka, surprised.
"Is that true?" asked Kageyama, who was watching Hinata with his mouth full of food.
"Well... kind of... it's just a guess," said Hinata after swallowing the food in his mouth.
"What do you mean a guess?" asked Asahi.
"I didn't have time to ask which school he was from before another guy came and called him to leave, but I could see they were wearing volleyball shoes, and when I talked to Kenma, he said he wasn't from around here, so I just assumed they were from Nekoma," explained Hinata.
"Kenma?" repeated Kageyama.
"He was the guy I talked to," said Hinata.
"What was he like?" asked Tanaka.
"He was short, not as short as Nishinoya, but short!" said Hinata.
"HEY! STOP USING ME AS A METRIC FOR SMALL THINGS," said Nishinoya.
"He had blonde hair and seemed to have kind of an indifferent personality, but like I said, I didn't have much time to talk to him before the other guy showed up," answered Hinata.
"And this other guy?" asked Daichi.
"Well, I only saw him for a few seconds before he turned his back, but I can say he's tall, maybe a little shorter than Tsukishima... Oh, and he was holding a red jacket in his hands, actually... Kenma was wearing one of those too," observed Hinata.
"Then it's probably Nekoma indeed. I've never faced them, but I know they used red as their uniform color," said Daichi.
"So, Hinata acted as a spy to get information about the enemy," said Nishinoya.
"Yes... Yes, he got the information that they have a tall guy on a volleyball team and they wear red! That's definitely a game changer for us," Tsukishima mocked while giving small laughs.
"Unfortunately, this time I have to agree with Tsukishima. Even if I had seen something to judge their skills, I don't know if it would help much. We already know they're good, we just have to be better!" said Hinata.
"You're right! And for that, you need to be in good condition, so EAT! EAT!" said Nishinoya.
After they finished eating, they went to bed to sleep.
"Alright! Let's do another one!" shouted Hinata while positioning himself to receive a set from Kageyama.
He ran and jumped and watched the ball coming quickly in his direction and executed the spike, slamming the ball into the ground.
"I think that's the fastest we can do," observed Kageyama.
"It's still not that super-quick, but it's already a high-level quick attack!" said Hinata after practicing some spikes with Kageyama in hopes that they could do the Super-Quick, which ended up not working, leaving the two with just the quick attack they've been working on since the beginning.
"Hey! Everyone! Come here!" said Ukai, calling everyone's attention.
"This will be the lineup we'll start with against Nekoma!" said Ukai while showing a clipboard containing the names of Daichi, Hinata, and Tanaka in the attack zone and Asahi, Tsukishima/Nishinoya, and Kageyama in the defense zone. "It's a lineup you've never used before, but it's the strongest we have to present with the return of the incredible libero and the Ace. We can beat our long-time rival!" presented Ukai.
"Yes!" Everyone shouted.
"HEY! Asahi! Don't you feel sorry for Ennoshita? And not to mention Suga - if they get stronger than the Ace in body and mind, they'll rightfully steal your position, and we have a strong candidate who's already taller than you and receives better, so don't slack off!" warned Nishinoya.
"HAHA, our ace is being threatened! What a time to be alive at Karasuno! We've never had so much competitiveness!" said Tanaka cheerfully.
"You too, Ryu! Hinata has already surpassed you in terms of skill... what's stopping Ennoshita from surpassing you too!" continued Nishinoya.
"OH! BRING IT ON, THROW THE FIRST PUNCH, ENNOSHITA!" said Tanaka while holding Ennoshita by the collar of his shirt.
"It's not that serious! It's not that serious!" said Ennoshita.
The next day, another training routine was happening where the Karasuno team was preparing for the game against Nekoma.
"TAKE THIS!" shouted Hinata while executing a powerful serve towards the other side of the court where Nishinoya was trying to receive Hinata's serve, which this time hit his arms with great force and went out.
"Since you started mixing your serving styles, it's become even more problematic to defend them!" said Nishinoya.
"Yeah, when I serve with less power, I can be more precise, and when I try to hit with all my strength, I end up missing some balls that I shouldn't, but thinking about it, I think the final form of my serve in the future will have to be a mixture of both, although finding the balance will be something complicated to do so it doesn't end up being just mediocre," said Hinata.
"Sensei..." said Shimizu.
"Is everything ready?" asked Takeda.
"Yes... here are the uniforms, clean and adjusted," said Shimizu.
"Hey! Come here to get your uniforms," said Takeda.
"Hinata, here's yours," he said while handing him a shirt with the number ten.
"Well, I've always liked number one better, but since Daichi has been using it for so long, I didn't want to ask... but ten isn't bad either," thought Hinata.
"What an irony of fate... the Little Giant's number ten jersey ended up with the tallest member of our team. These are really different times, Haha," said Sugawara while laughing.
"And this guy played when Karasuno was at its best, and even then, they never managed to win a game against Nekoma, so... Go out there and turn the game around!" said Ukai.
"Yeah!" Everyone shouted in unison.
"Now, let's get back to practice!" shouted Ukai.
"If what you said is true... this Nekoma team must be very good... how do they play?" said Takeda.
"I don't know nowadays... but back then, they were a team with very solid reception and didn't have any standout players. If these characteristics remained, then you could say this game might show which team is more balanced - the one with the best defense or the one with the best attack," said Ukai.
