章節 21: Chapter 21 - Practice Match Vs. Seijoh (Part 1)
The day had passed and Hinata was lying in his bed waiting for sleep to come, but he couldn't fall asleep.
"How strange... normally I don't have trouble sleeping due to anxiety before games, but this time it's happening... maybe it's because we're playing against the team that has most of the Kitagawa Daiichi members and it brings back memories of my injury," Hinata thought.
"Damn it! I have to manage to sleep or I'll be all weak for the match... it's been a year already, I've been doing physical therapy and working out to solve this problem, I have nothing to fear, this time it will definitely be different!" He thought while turning to the other side of the bed and forcing himself to sleep.
After leaving home, he walked to Karasuno and headed to the volleyball club room, and as he approached the stairs, he saw Kageyama and Sugawara coming his way.
"Hey, Hinata, how are you? Excited?" Sugawara asked.
"Very much, I'll finally be able to play in a volleyball match after a year, even if it's just a practice match, and it's against a strong team too, I can't wait to face those guys," Hinata said.
"Haha, you really have that competitive spirit when it comes to strong teams and players," he observed.
"Of course, there's nothing better than testing your skills and proving your worth against these teams, right, Kageyama?" he asked.
"Oh..., Yeah," he said, not seeming to be paying much attention to what his two teammates were discussing.
"What's wrong?" Sugawara asked Kageyama.
"I'm just wondering if the new people can really use the club room," he said thoughtfully.
"It's not a problem, there's nothing special in there," he said.
The three boys climbed the stairs and opened the door, and Hinata could see Tanaka, Ennoshita, Kinoshita, and Narita inside the room that had two shelves, one on each side of the room storing bags, a box of volleyballs and some other things, plus a poster of some idol girls.
"Hey, everyone," said Sugawara.
"Hey," replied the boys who were already in the room.
"Everyone, let's get ready and head to the bus!" said Daichi, clapping his hands.
After they finished preparing, everyone started boarding the bus to begin the journey.
"Hey, Hinata, you seem very calm! Aren't you nervous?" asked Tanaka, who was sitting next to him.
"Of course not! I have confidence in my abilities, those guys won't be a match for us," said Hinata, pointing to himself with his thumb confidently.
"Oh yeah! You little shit, don't get too cocky!" said Tanaka while trying to put him in a headlock.
After a few hours of travel, they arrived at Aoba Johsai school, and everyone got off the bus.
"It's really big..." Hinata thought.
"Hey, everyone, the gym is this way," said Daichi while pointing in the direction they should go.
As they walked about to turn a corner, they could hear two boys talking on the other side.
"Hey, Karasuno's team is coming today, right... I heard that King and the orange-haired guy went there," said a member of Aoba Johsai's volleyball club.
"Oh, yeah... Kageyama was my teammate at Kitagawa Daiichi, he's not that great, he had good skills but was too self-centered to work in a group, now as for Shoyo Hinata... he was really a scary opponent back then, he had a very weak team around him and we almost lost because of his attacking power, especially with his serves," said Kindaichi.
"Hmm... strange that both of them went to Karasuno which is a mediocre team, maybe they got worse or that guy's injury affected other teams' view of them," said the other boy.
"I just know their manager is really beautiful," he continued.
"WHAT? SERIOUSLY?" asked Kindaichi.
"Yeah, and they also have this bald guy who's a delinquent and likes to intimidate others with a scary face..." He finished, then found himself face to face with the entire Karasuno team led by Tanaka.
"Who are you calling mediocre? You better not underestimate us, you little shits," said Tanaka, intimidating the two boys who started to shrink back.
"Look at these supposed elite players, Tanaka... Already wetting themselves." Tsukishima provoked.
"Who's this other tall guy!?" thought the other Aoba Johsai member.
"What did you say?" Kindaichi tried to retort but saw the bald guy being pulled back by someone who appeared to be the captain, who made him bow.
"Hey, King, how's your royal life in your new team, doing well?" Kindaichi provoked as he watched Kageyama pass by.
"I'm fine," said the boy, ignoring him and moving forward, leaving the other confused.
After Karasuno's team entered the gym, they looked around.
"It's quite big compared to ours!" said Tanaka.
"Yes, let's not waste time and start warming up!" commanded Daichi.
"Yeah, looks like Oikawa isn't here yet..." Hinata thought as he couldn't find him anywhere.
The two teams enter the court and each takes their positions to start the first set which begins with Matsukawa serving towards Daichi who easily receives and passes to Kageyama who prepares to set and decides to start with a quick to Hinata who was positioned in the middle in front of the net and managed to spike it before the opposing team could block.
1-0 Karasuno
"Wow, they already started with a powerful quick... I wasn't paying attention," said Kindaichi who didn't follow the attack.
Karasuno's team rotated and it was Daichi's turn to serve, which went towards Matsukawa who managed to receive it and passed to Yahaba who was the reserve setter who had been talking earlier with Kindaichi, he decided to set for Hanamaki, a boy with almost pink hair who was in position two on the right who jumped and after being ready to spike observed a triple block from Kageyama, Hinata and Tsukishima and then he tries to hit the ball on Tsukishima's fingertips also slightly touching Kageyama's hand but gets blocked which makes the ball return to their own court.
2-0 Karasuno
"Let's go!" said Kageyama while celebrating.
"But I was the one who blocked him," said Tsukishima, annoyed.
"What's your problem? It touched my hand too!" said Kageyama.
"These three's block is powerful... I don't think it will be easy for anyone to score when these three are at the net," said Hanamaki.
"This isn't good... I expected Karasuno to come with some new weapons, but that right there is serious business, few teams in the prefecture could have such a strong triple block, maybe even at nationals," observed Seijoh's coach.
Daichi serves and again is well received by the opposing team's defense, Yahaba gets the ball for the set and observes the situation.
"If they have their best in blocking we'll go with our best in attack," he thought, setting the ball for Iwaizumi who was in position four on his left who also after jumping observed the same triple block, however, managed to successfully hit the edges of the block but the ball before reaching the back court floor was intercepted by Daichi who manages to put it back in play towards Kageyama who after looking at Seijoh's team focusing on Hinata and his quick then set to Tanaka who was in position four who managed to jump and hit the ball on the side of the block's hands and score a point.
3-0 Karasuno
"WHO DID YOU CALL MEDIOCRE?! I CAN'T HEAR YOU!" Tanaka shouted towards Aoba Johsai's team.
"STOP TALKING SHIT! I'LL END YOU, YOU BALDY!" shouted Kindaichi.
"BRING IT ON!" shouted Tanaka who then heard the referee's whistle in his ear warning them to stop arguing.
