At that moment a path was opening up for Zimo.
If he had many Beasts… all growing stronger together, all having high Resonances with him, would that not give him some real power and ability?
What did that mean for his strength in the future?
And what about the strength of other people who were smart enough to realise this?
Right now, He was six times stronger than a normal human… Even he had no clue what that meant and how it looked. Too bad he couldn't test it because of these childish arms. Zmo had some urgency right now. He needed to move quickly, and with Kivu being the incredible Beast she was, he had enough BC to play around a bit.
Zimo's lips curved into a grin. "Looks like I'm getting another potion." He navigated back to the store, selecting the glowing vial with trembling baby hands.

Without even a doubt in his mind, he did exactly that, buying the potion and then watching as the page disappeared in front of him.

The moment he confirmed the export, the potion materialized in front of him, hovering mid-air and glowing brightly. It was small but beautifully crafted, the liquid inside swirling with a red iridescent sheen. This time he had hands though, and he was able to catch it, holding the potion in place.
Back then it was so embarrassing when he bought it only to watch as it rolled away from him all so that those Deadspawn could play football with it. But as he thought about this he thought back to those people who put him in that situation... Those disgusting people...
"See you soon, Maya," he said, uncorking the vial. With a smirk, he tipped it back and swallowed it in one gulp. That same taste again. So sweet, but so good, and when it went into his stomach, he felt that same incredible explosion of energy!.
The effect was immediate. Heat erupted in his chest, spreading rapidly through his veins. His vision blurred, and for a moment, he thought he might pass out. Then, as quickly as it started, the sensation settled into a steady hum. He looked down at his arms and legs, watching in awe as his muscles filled out, his pale skin taking on a healthier tone.
"Holy—" he started, but the words caught in his throat. He flexed his fingers again, marvelling at the newfound strength in them. But it wasn't just strength. It was ability. It felt like his cells were going alive.
His natural rate should have been multiplied by five to seven times, and that meant he was going to heal much faster. And with two potions working in his body that was only going to be much better once again. After all, he had stacked them one over another.
Zimo was not willing to buy another one of these Potions, but only if he had to, he would. Something told him that BC was an incredible thing. If he ran out, that was okay. He would just have to get it from others who didn't understand just how incredible it was. It was okay. It would be like taking candy from Babies if he could get stronger quickly enough.
The connection to Kivu flared suddenly, and he sensed her returning. She was bringing something… or someone. Zimo's heart quickened as he stood, his new legs still shaky but functional as they pulsed with the energy of regeneration.
They were growing out of their kiddy phase, and heading into an adolescent phase, and he looked something like his 12-year-old self. He kinda looked like a dwarf at that moment and the only reason he wasn't naked was because his shirt was covering everything that needed to be covered.
Moments later, Kivu emerged from the darkness, dragging a Deadspawn. Its body was missing, its head mangled but still intact. Zimo stared at this thing and then looked at Kivu. Was this a gift? Oh.. after what happened before where she took the blue crystal before he could examine it.
Aww... she was so cute. Or maybe she was just trying to see if he would show a reaction. If that was the case, then definitely not cute.
"Impressive," Zimo said, noticing how his stomach stayed completely still and calm at the sight. Maybe it was the levelling up, but his mental state and control over himself were getting better. And it was terrifying now. He couldn't help but sigh in interest.
Kivu dropped the head at his feet, her glowing green eyes gleaming with pride and amusement. She nudged it toward him with her nose, as if presenting a trophy and a peace offering. Or maybe it was a booby trap.
"Thank you so much, Kivu. I dont know what to say..." Zimo said grabbing the head casually, and then when he remembered that this thing was contaminated by the black rain, he was about to drop it but he soon realised that he felt nothing... No weird burning sensation, no weird feeling...
Maybe the fact that he was high level was protecting him from this substance in the black rain. His higher level was defending him from turning into one of those Deadspawns. Turning his head to Kivu, who was already looking out into the distance, he wondered... did she already know this?
And then in the next moment, he inspired his hands to turn into Shadow Claws, spreading darkness everywhere around his hands, making them look like spectral shadows that seemed to blend in with the nothingness. Zimo smirked, waving them around, and then when he slashed, he saw the head literally burst open the blue crystal popping out into the open and falling to the floor, still covered in black fluids.
Zimo looked towards Kivu, who looked at him as if he had not really done anything special, and he chuckled. Tough Crowd. This was progress to him though.
Kivu huffed, clearly unimpressed with his enthusiasm. Why are you so excited? That's nothing. That was what it felt like she was saying at that moment. Zimo shook his head and threw the head away nonchalantly, letting it land on the floor, and spew out some fluids and matter as he picked up the blue crystal, having already turned off the energy flow of the Skill he was using.
The crystal was pretty. It glowed in blue and looked vibrant and bright. Zimo turned it around a few times in his hands. There was one question going through his mind and he had to find the answer.
"Can I eat this?" he asked casually, looking at ZImo with a side-eye. Hearing no answer but an unamused growl, he knew that Mama Kivu was not really impressed. Even if he could eat it, why not just give it to her to eat instead?
Zimo sighed. It was pretty boring. He thought something might happen if he held it, but nothing happened. He turned to Kivu and then held his arm up. "Okay, you can have these from now on."
Kivu growled and then she took the crystal back from him with a shadow that sprang from her body, and he began chuckling. She had snatched it away again. Stealing glowing crystals from a man-baby. Well, he was no baby anymore. But the point still stood.
Things were finally looking up. But he had seen her states. She needed to rest. And he needed to heal up. At that moment, his eyes passed by the decapitated head that was bleeding out below him. Wehn did he become okay with things like that? That used to be a human almost half a day ago... ANd yet he had handled the head, and then thrown it away casually as if it was nothing.
"Guess we make a good team, huh?" he said, half-joking. Kivu paused to look at him, her eyes narrowing. For a moment, Zimo felt as though she could see right through him, into the deepest corners of his soul. As if she could see the uncertainty. She was disdaining him. He was still too weak.
"Yeah… great team," he muttered, fighting the urge to turn away as he held her. She felt just as warm as always. "Let's go rest, okay?"
"Grrh~" Kivu said nonchalantly, and after Zimo walked away to the position they were at before she followed him, soon laying down and letting the man lay on her, looking out into the distance.
Zimo stared out over the city once more, the faint glimmer of hope in his chest was tempered by a gnawing uncertainty. He was stronger now, sure. But at what cost? And how much further would he have to go to survive in this broken world?
Some insightful note goes here.
