55.55% Astral Hoarder: Embrace of Malevolence / Chapter 15: A Dark Realisation 1

章節 15: A Dark Realisation 1

Zimo sat partially on Kivu's back, the cold air slicing through the night as he gazed at the sprawling, crumbling cityscape below. The parking lot's rooftop, their perch, offered a panoramic view of chaos: flickering lights, shambling corpses, and eerie silence punctuated by distant screams.

ZImo also noticed something else as he sat there... The constructions were crumbling. He didn't understand how or why, but it seemed the Black rain was making all sorts of structures become cracked. It was as if time was speeding up and even he could not figure out how it was happening.

This was pretty intense for him. After all, he was someone who was inquisitive by nature. He had so many questions, but one thing was for certain. This was not the world he thought he knew. And it might never be that world ever again. He was currently sitting on the floor, leaning on Kivu and looking out into the distance.

The moon cast a pale glow over everything, accentuating the surreal horror of it all. Zimo's thoughts churned like a stormy sea, unable to settle. This had probably been the craziest day of his life.

What the hell was happening?

He glanced down at his arms… Well, could he even allow themselves to be called that? Stubby, pale, and grotesquely small, they twitched with unnatural growth, regenerating slowly, agonizingly, before his eyes. Tiny, baby-like fingers curled and uncurled as if mocking him.

He clenched his jaw, thinking not about the person who had caused this, his old friend and once unrequited love, Mia. He had already drunk the potion, which tasted like strawberry juice. If anyone told him things were going to turn out like this, he would never have believed them...

"How…?" he murmured, his voice weak, his breath visible in the night air.

Kivu, the monstrous Beast beneath him, stirred slightly, her muscular shoulders rippling as she shifted her weight, turning her head to gaze at him.

Her dark fur gleamed faintly, and her eyes glowed a baleful green, scanning the horizon as if she could sense something Zimo couldn't. She exuded a silent, overwhelming power that made Zimo's skin crawl and spine tingle. He still didn't understand how that situation was possible.

For her to find him right at that moment when he was dying. It was all a bit… too impressive, too lucky, as he liked to call it. They had been together for fifteen minutes and He still wondered sometimes what was going on in her head.

Back then after getting here, Kivu had set ZImo down with her shadows, and this time, Zimo had seen it all, his eyes alight with wonder. He had then asked her to help him drink the potion, and she had done as he wished, uncorking and feeding him the thing into his mouth.

Zimo had gulped it down and when he did something like that, he felt liquid, that tasted like strawberries, suddenly turn into a flood of energy that spread all over his body, sending shivers up his spine as he felt his limbs start regenerating. Even at that moment, he felt it, but it was slower now. He hoped he would regenerate everything and quickly at that. And to get that happening, he needed this lady that he was leaning on right then.

He turned his head to her. "Kivu… what are you even thinking about right now?"

Kivu's gaze snapped to him, and for a moment, Zimo felt like prey caught in the sight of a predator. Then she smirked, or did she?

Her mouth curled unnaturally, revealing glistening teeth in a way that sent icy shivers down his back. The expression wasn't reassuring. It was cold, calculating, and laced with something cruel that Zimo did not understand. At least not yet…

"Never mind," Zimo muttered, looking away quickly. He didn't want to know anymore. Little did Zimo know that when he finally knew the depths of Kivu's mind, he would find himself understanding her a bit too much.

Deciding to focus on something else, Zimo opened up the panel. Navigating to the missions he saw something interesting

He had so many questions, and yet he had no answers. It was so clear to him though that the answers were out there somewhere. While he was healing up, this was the best moment to expose himself to this new world he found himself in.

Looking at the other Missions, Zimo shook his head.

|————————————

| Mission: Kill an Enemy Beast |

—————

Description: Eliminate an untamed Beast that roams the world without a Tamer. Simple task, correct? Incorrect.

Rewards:

—> Level +1 +1

—> 200BC

————————————|

Well, this was as intense as it was going to get for him. But he felt like he was ready for it. But there was a catch that ZImo only discovered after reading the information. He was supposed to do this by himself? He was the one who was supposed to kill the Beast, not Kivu?

|————————————

| Mission: Kill 100 Tier 1 Deadspawn |

—————

Description: Eliminate 100 Deadspawn between the levels of 1 to 10. Make sure to do it efficiently, or else you or your Beast might get infected with the disease they carry.

Damn. He was going to be killing a hundred of those fuckers, but he was only going to be getting 100BC? How sad was that? Zimo moved on to the next mission.

|————————————

| Mission: Kill a Tier 2 Deadspawn |

————————————|

Hm? They are never alone. What did this mean? Maybe they always go around with others like them? Or maybe they have underlings? It is pretty intersting for ZImo to think about but at the same time, he was not going to let it get to him. He would look for it when the time came.

|————————————

| Mission: Kill a Tamer's Beast |

—————

Description: Eliminate a Tamed Beast. However, it is important to understand that Tamed Beasts grow stronger more rapidly than unt Be, so it may be advantageous to do this sooner rather than later.

Rewards:

—> Level +1 +1

—> 500BC

————————————|

Well, this was the part Zimo was looking forward to. After all, he was going to deliver divine justice to that woman Maya, and since she had taken away his arms and legs, then what was wrong with him taking away her Beast? Free Levels and some BC for something he was going to be doing anyway, Zimo smirked. Well, thank you very much.

But staring at the last missions, Zimo narrowed his eyes...

|————————————

| Mission: Kill a Tamer |

—————

Description: In the Universe, you are either a Tamer or you are Tamed. As a Universal tamer, it is essential to transcend your limitations. You must ensure that you surpass yourself and conquer tamers at every moment. Defeat a tamer to embark on this journey.

—> 700BC

The glowing system menus felt like the only shred of control he had in this insane world. The numbers, the options… they made sense. Everything else was… crazy. ANd yet now as he stared at this thing, he couldn't help but feel just how... crazy this system was.

It was telling him to kill a human...

Wait, what was Zimo going to do when he finally got his revenge? Was he just going to let them go? No... He had to make sure to get them to the part he got them to. He had to make sure to destroy them. If he left them alive they could be threats to him. He needed to kill them no matter what.

Anyway, things were making more sense over time. ZImo leaned back. In a few more minutes, he would ask Kivu to go out there and hunt, and he would be there at that time, to watch, to help, to immerse himself in all this. He needed to see it all. He needed to see the growth and the fighting.

Oh damn, he almost forgot. Opening up Kivu's information again, he turned to the Skills, and then he looked at it only to see something he never would have expected before.

What were all these different quieston marks?! Zimo was already confused about the situation, but it was clear that this Kivu was also a mystery and a half. ZImo shook his head. Well, might as well look at the information.

But something stod out to ZImo. He was looking at the situation and he couldnt help but smirk. He could use these skills too. How would that look like? He couldnt help but wonder with a smirk on his face.

ZImo looked at this and then he sighed. This was really impressive. So this was how she was able to carry him like that, huh? The control it took to use this kind of ability was also pretty intense too.

Zimo looked at this and then he smirked. He could already imagine himself sending out Night Slash, like some weeb at an anime convention. Why was he even thinking of things like that? There was no use in thinking too much. He had to just focus on the objective.

|————————————

—> Skill Cooldown: 1 minute

Upgrade Conditions:

—> ??

————————————|

Interesting... So this was something that gave Kivu a sort of way to give her the ability to move in the darkness, shrouded by anything and everything all around her, huh... He would love to use such a Skill himself. Well... that required him to have the ability to move first. Better calm himself down.

|————————————

| Skill: [Unknown Skill] (? Rank) |

—————

Description: ??

Skill Activation Conditions:

—> ??

—> Skill Cooldown: None (always active)

Upgrade Conditions:

—> ??

Mana Cost: 1 Mana per second

————————————|

Umm... what was this? Zimo turned to Kivu, only to see her looking at him nonchalantly, especially his little hands that were growing ever so slowly.

Zimo smirked. "I know, I know... I'm healing too slowly though. But I promise I will let you go out there to hunt and grow at your heart's content. Soon enough I will be joining you in that thing."

Hearing her snort a bit out of impatience, Zimo chuckled and leaned back, looking out into the city that was crumbling down. The rules were slowly becoming clear. Contracting with Kivu had connected them in ways Zimo was only beginning to comprehend and instead of feeling afraid of that... He was somewhat excited about it all.

He could feel her power coursing through him faintly, a shadow of her immense strength augmenting his own broken body. The stronger Kivu grew, the more he would benefit. But that strength must come along with Kivu's other attributes right? Like her magical attributes and other attributes too.

But there was a catch… there had to be. Wasn't there always?
