章節 5: Five: MayHaden's Ethos

Gasps flew into the air once everyone saw what MayHaden had done. But more than that, everyone held their breaths as they waited in anticipation for the black clouds to clear.

Squinting his eyes, MorDrigin stared ahead. Trying to make out MayHaden's figure admist the black smoke. An endeavour which seemed to prove fruitful, as he saw her bent over, looking at something.

Unable to wait any longer, TayDrigin summoned a sword from her Inventory. She then took a swing into the air, and at once a gust of wind blew the smoke away.

Once MayHaden could be seen, all eyes — except those of MorDrigin and TayDrigin — had widened. Because before their very eyes, was an Unformed Ethos. It laid on the ground like a ball of shimmering blackness. It looked like a droplet of water, but more than that, it seemed to be alive in a way.

Each time MayHaden got closer to it, it moved backwards. So she stretched out her hands slowly. And this tactic seemed to work, because the Unformed Ethos was now coming closer to her.

Staring closely, MorDrigin watched as the Ethos climbed onto her hands, and then began to glow a faint red hue. It was Bonding with her.

At once SaiDrigin and LoriHaden rushed into the space in which MayHaden was standing.

"Oh my God that was amazing!" SaiDrigin had said.

"I'm so happy for you May." LoriHaden said as she rushed MayHaden in an embrace, almost throwing her off her feet.

MorDrigin made to come out and congratulate her, but his mother was already ahead. Noticing they were a member short, Mor searched for the boy CalisVon. He did not need to search too long when he noticed Calis trailing behind him, with his eyes fixated on MayHaden.

"She actually did it, in her first go." CalisVon had whispered, as he left Mor's side and made his way toward MayHaden.

Mor now followed behind, watching as everyone came in to congratulate MayHaden. Even his mother had placed a hand on May's shoulder.

"You performed splendidly." She said with her usual gentle smile.

"Thank you." MayHaden said.

"Congratulations." CalisVon had said.

"Thank you." MayHaden respsonded.

Mor went up close, standing in a corner as he wondered what it felt like. Being acknowledged, becoming an Amyntor.

'It didn't really matter.' Mor thought, then he dawned a smile and approached May.

"You really did good MayHaden." Mor had said and she smiled.

"Thank you." She said, dawning a look of euphoria in her eyes.

"Okay everyone," TayDrigin said, pulling everyone's attention. "It's time to move on." She added, pointing her gaze to the rapier on the floor. With an outstretched arm, the rapier disappeared into sparks of light and reappeared in the same way in her hand.

Once she got hold of the rapier, she didn't put it away in her Inventory immediately, but held onto it for now. Then she led the way and everyone followed.

Making their way through the semi glowing forest. Mor was looking at the plant-life and wondered about many things he had read. Especially from one author in particular. Mor turned his sights toward a Lasso Tree, which was bending toward one corner and he wondered if they could be used to create threads that would in turn be used to play a music that would paralyze Meltorens.

Or if he could items like Tomahawk roots with a Sapling stone actually existed in real life. How incredible would it be to use them and create an anti-venom against almost all poisons. These questions boggled Mor's mind. He knew that these secrets were relegated to the world of his books, but he still wondered if they were grounded in truth. Most things in other books were.

But surely, if they were true, many scientists would have discovered them long ago and announced such news to the world. So he decided to leave his fantasies to his books and just admire the world around him.

Stopping in his tracks, Mor found a group of Rolling Squirrels tumbling like a ball across the ground. They seemed frenzied, like they were running away from something. Mor wanted to look in the direction the Rolling Squirrels were coming from, but just then something rammed into his feet, knocking him over.

At once everyone turned to MorDrigin, all ready to lash out at any would-be attacker. But looking at Mor and the creature that fell him over, their weariness had overturned to laughter when they saw a Ultris chasing the Rolling Squirrels.

The Ultris was a creature which wss covered with a hard shield-like shell. It had a long nose and short legs. But it was quite fast and seemingly hungry.

Mor sat up. Feeling a little embarrassed, he began to scratch his head before joining in on the laughter.

SaiDrigin rushed over, stretching her hand for Mor. Helai — TayDrigin's Ethos — was no longer in her hands. It was now beside TayDrigin, sitting as he waited for them to get a move on.

"An Ultris got the better of you." SaiDrigin mocked with a grin on her face.

Mor rolled his eyes, then took her hand.

"I was distracted because of how beautiful it was. I actually began to wonder if I could beg it to give you some of its looks." MorDrigin bit back as Sai pulled him up.

"Haha, very funny." SaiDrigin said with a frown, fighting the urge to let Mor fall.

Once he got on his feet, he ruffled Sai's hair, making her frown even more.

"You know I hate that." Sai said to Mor as he walked over to the group.

"Yes, I know." He said, looking over his shoulder with a grin, before turning his sights to the group and waiting for Sai to catch up.

Standing still, Sai puffed air at the strand of hair in front of her face, pushing it away. Then she followed behind.

It didn't take them long before the Whispers ringing in the air grew sharper. Slowing down, they found another stone creature in the distance. An Unformed Ethos.
