Mor soared through the sky. Or at least he felt like he was soaring, but in actuality, he was falling, falling very fast. Though they were thousands of feet in the air, Mor fell with a confidence that made him excited.
Truly, this was one of the best parts of it all.
"Let's go love." Tay had said to her daughter Sai, before falling backwards. One by one the Watchers fell. And a few brave Seedlings followed after them.
Seeing this, Sai and the Seedlings of her mother's Watch felt a competitive spirit. They didn't want to be shown off, they didn't want to disappoint TayDrigin. So they steeled their nerves and jumped.
Turning around so he faced up, Mor smiled when he saw that his sister had finally taken the plunge. Then he turned around so he faced Eden as opposed to Nebula City. He stopped spreading out his limbs and drew them in, then he pointed his head to the world below so he became more streamlined and zipped through the air like a bullet.
Falling faster and faster, the world below came closer and closer. Within several seconds, it had come very very close. So that he was now only four feet away from splattering on the floor like cheese.
But just then, his descent reduced drastically when he got within four feet of the world. Then he slowed even more before he finally garnered the speed of an air-filled balloon.
He felt a bit light, and within the second, his feet had gently landed on the the ground. The soil of Eden.
Turning his eyes in all directions, Mor was bombarded with sights, sounds, smells, and sensations. The sights before him were that of life and nature. Tall and mighty trees erected high into the sky. Plant life and flowers of many varieties littered the ground here and there. Plant life and flowers with the most strange and beautiful patterns, but something common to all, was the fact that they glowed. Some faint, others intense.
Adding to the plant life, animals scurried or flew in one spot or the other.
The most immediate animals Mor could see were floating jellyfishes a little above his head. Then turning his sights to the ground, he could see rats digging themselves into the ground, hiding their presence from him.
The creatures made sounds of varying kinds, but the most prominent were the Whispers of the newly born Ethoses.
As for the smells, Eden — at least this part of it — smelt much like water, flowers, and ripe fruits. All of which added a welcoming aura to this world.
And as for the sensations, Mor could feel on the hair of his skin something akin to a forcefield each time he walked. This sensation made his hair rise, but not all the time. Then, adding to this sensation was the feeling of wetness that permeated the air.
This part of Eden was quite humid, and warm.
Though Mor hated this world to a degree, he still deeply loved it. As it was not only beautiful, but it was the main location of all his favourite fantasy books.
How many times had he roamed this world, in search of a beautiful princess? Or embarked on a mission to slay the Enthoses that terrorized his people, or journeyed to find an ancient power to save his world, or fallen in love with a lost human-like creature that once ruled this world.
He had been here so many times in so many ways he couldn't recall them all, but one thing stood firm, that he truly loved this world. Which was why he found...a part of him hoping.
"Ahhh!" A voice pulled Mor out of his head. Looking up, he could see one of the twins screaming with arms flailing as she fell.
The sight all but made Mor laugh as he watched she descend and then suddenly slow down. Seeing the astonishment on her face made Mor laugh even harder.
One after another, members of his mother's watch fell, only to be held in place by some sort of invisible force.
Once his sister had made it down, MorDrigin went over and helped her onto her feet. Then the last to fall was TayDrigin. She had slowed her descent by spreading out her body so the children would make it down first, and she could Watch their progress.
Looking up above, Mor could see more and more children pour from the sky like rain. Yet none of them fell in their vicinity. This was because their Watchers all made sure to lead them toward different paths so as to not compete for Ethoses with another Watcher's party.
Noticing the children admiring the sights — even his mother — he in turn scanned their environment for the best possible route and stopped his gaze when he stumbled upon a narrow path through the trees.
Turning back to his mother, he wasn't surprised by the fact that she was still admiring the scenery. After all, her job was to protect Nebula City, not venture into Eden for one reason or the other. This task was left to Mor's father, KaiDrigin.
"Mom," Mor called out, then felt guilty a second later for what he was about to do.
"Yes Mor?" She had asked, still taken by this beautiful yet deadly world.
"I think we should move." Mor had said, snapping TayDrigin out of her gaze.
"Right right." She had said, a bit flustered.
Then she turned to the others and called their attention.
"Gather around everyone, it's time to find your Ethoses." TayDrigin said with an enthusiasm that had put everyone in an invigorated mood. Everyone excluding Mor.
"But first," she paused then removed her sight from the children and placed it on nothing. A moment later she flicked her finger onto the space in front of her face and a spark of light shot out in her hand, before forming into an item.
Seeing this, "Ahs" and "Oohs" filled the air, but Mor was used to it. She was accessing her Inventory, and picked out an item she stored inside.
Said item which she held in her hand, was a bundle of straws wrapped together by a rubber band.
"Okay everyone, take a straw."
