Agent Norah, Malidora's top intelligence officer, sat across from Roy and Aziz in a sterile conference room. She slid a folder across the table, her face devoid of humor.
"The perpetrator is not from Malidora," she said, locking eyes with Roy.
Roy leaned forward, tapping the folder like he was on the set of a courtroom drama. "Go on. Tell me everything."
Norah arched an eyebrow. "We traced the offshore account to a server located in Cahaya itself. Whoever this 'Phantom' is, they're operating from your country."
Aziz slapped his forehead. "Of course. It was never an international scandal. It's a domestic one!"
Roy blinked. "Wait… does this mean I don't get to do spy stuff anymore?"
Norah ignored him. "We're willing to share our findings, but only if you stop interrogating our citizens about 'suspicious briefcases.'"
Roy crossed his arms, clearly sulking. "Fine. But just so you know, I was this close to cracking the case."
Back in Cahaya
Returning home with Agent Norah's report in hand, Roy summoned his task force. Aziz, Pak Din, Farah, and Meowster gathered in the situation room.
"Listen up, team," Roy said, slapping the report onto the table. "The Phantom is one of our own. A rogue Cahayan!"
Farah raised her hand. "Shouldn't we alert the National Cybersecurity Unit?"
Roy shook his head dramatically. "No way. This is personal. We're solving this ourselves."
Aziz sighed. "Sir, this isn't an episode of Detective Royale. We're talking about billions of cahadollars."
"Exactly!" Roy said. "And I'll get it back, one cucumber at a time if I have to."
The Phantom's Trail
The Malidoran report provided a key clue: the IP address used by the Phantom was tied to a specific building in Cahaya's capital.
"It's an abandoned warehouse," Farah explained, pointing to a map. "But it has an active internet connection."
Roy's eyes lit up. "A warehouse? That's so classic villain! I bet they even have a secret lair."
Aziz shook his head. "Sir, please don't assume it's a supervillain."
Ignoring him, Roy declared, "We're going there. Tonight. Bring snacks. And a flashlight for dramatic effect."
The Warehouse Stakeout
Under the cover of night, the task force arrived at the warehouse. Roy insisted on wearing a camouflage jumpsuit, even though it made him look more like a rejected action figure than a covert operative.
"Everyone stay low," Roy whispered, crouching unnecessarily behind a shrub.
"Sir, there's no one here," Aziz said, gesturing at the empty parking lot.
"That's what they want you to think," Roy replied.
As they approached the building, Meowster suddenly darted ahead, his tail puffed up.
"What's he doing?" Farah whispered.
"Leading us to the truth!" Roy said dramatically.
The Phantom Unmasked
Inside the warehouse, they found rows of dusty computers and a small desk piled high with empty instant noodle cups.
Farah pointed to a monitor. "Look! Someone's been logging into the treasury system from here."
Just then, the sound of footsteps echoed through the warehouse. Everyone froze.
A figure emerged from the shadows, holding a bag of snacks. It was a lanky man with glasses and an oversized hoodie.
"Who are you?" Roy demanded, pointing at him like an overly enthusiastic game show host.
The man dropped his bag and raised his hands. "Don't hurt me! I'm just an IT consultant!"
Aziz frowned. "An IT consultant? What are you doing here?"
The man gulped. "I was hired to create a backdoor into the treasury system. I didn't know it would be used to steal money!"
"Who hired you?" Aziz pressed.
The man hesitated, then muttered, "A high-ranking official in your government. They called themselves… the Shadow Treasurer."
A Government Conspiracy
The room fell silent. Roy looked around, eyes wide. "Shadow Treasurer? That's such a cool villain name!"
"Sir, focus!" Aziz snapped. "This means someone in the government is behind this."
The IT consultant nodded. "I can help you trace the transactions, but you need to protect me. If they find out I talked—"
Roy interrupted, clapping him on the back. "Don't worry, buddy. You're under Roy K protection! Nobody messes with my people."
Aziz muttered, "I'm not sure that's reassuring."
The Real Culprit
Back at the office, the team worked through the night analyzing the Phantom's transactions. Finally, they uncovered a shocking name: Pak Din, the Minister of Finance himself.
Aziz stared at the screen in disbelief. "This… this has to be a mistake."
Roy scratched his head. "But Pak Din was the one who told us the money was missing. Why would he report his own crime?"
Farah gasped. "To throw us off the trail! He wanted to make it look like someone else was behind it."
Roy nodded slowly. "A double-cross. Classic villain move."
The Confrontation
The next morning, Roy stormed into Pak Din's office, flanked by Aziz and Farah.
"Pak Din!" Roy shouted, pointing a dramatic finger. "Your shadowy treasuring ends here!"
Pak Din stood up, feigning confusion. "What are you talking about, sir?"
"We know everything," Aziz said, holding up a file of evidence. "The offshore accounts, the backdoor access, the missing funds it all leads back to you."
Pak Din sighed and dropped the act. "Fine. You've caught me. But it doesn't matter. The money is already gone."
Roy smirked. "Oh, really? Checkmate, buddy. We froze your accounts last night."
Pak Din's jaw dropped. "What?!"
"That's right," Roy said, folding his arms smugly. "Turns out I can do spy stuff."
Justice Served
Pak Din was arrested, and the missing funds were recovered. The news of Roy's daring investigation spread like wildfire, further cementing his reputation as Cahaya's most unconventional leader.
Aziz, though exhausted, had to admit that Roy's bizarre methods had somehow worked again.
As they left the office, Roy turned to Aziz. "So, what did we learn today?"
Aziz sighed. "That I should probably retire early?"
"No," Roy said, grinning. "That crime doesn't pay. Unless it involves cucumbers. Then it's farming."
Aziz groaned, and Meowster meowed triumphantly as the unlikely team headed off for their next adventure.
