章節 8: Chapter 8: The Mystery of the PM’s Lunch

After the National Day debacle, things in Cahaya began to settle—well, as much as they could under Roy's reign. The media remained obsessed with "The Cucumber King," while Roy basked in his newfound title, even going as far as wearing a cucumber-patterned tie to work.

But peace was short-lived. A new scandal was brewing, one so strange and baffling that even Roy couldn't bumble his way out of it.

The Missing Lunch

It all started on an ordinary Tuesday. Roy was halfway through his morning routine—playing solitaire on his government-issued laptop—when a horrifying discovery was made.

"Sir!" Aziz stormed into the room, holding a lunch container. "We have a situation!"

Roy, still in pajama pants under his blazer, blinked at him. "If this is about the Wi-Fi being slow again, I already called IT."

Aziz slammed the container onto the desk. "This is more serious than Wi-Fi. It's your lunch!"

Roy frowned and opened the lid. The container was completely empty, save for a single grain of rice sitting in the corner, mocking him.

"My nasi lemak!" Roy gasped. "Where did it go?"

"That's what I'm trying to figure out," Aziz said, pacing the room. "It was here this morning. I saw Mak Jah, the kitchen staff, pack it herself. But now, it's gone!"

Roy narrowed his eyes. "You're telling me… someone stole my lunch?"

Aziz nodded gravely. "It's either theft, sabotage, or a very hungry ghost."

The Accusations Begin

Roy immediately summoned his cabinet for an emergency meeting. The agenda? "Operation: Find the Nasi Lemak Bandit."

The ministers shuffled into the meeting room, clearly confused.

Pak Din spoke first. "Sir, I thought this was a security briefing. Are you telling me we're here to talk about… lunch?"

Roy slammed the empty container on the table. "Not just any lunch, Pak Din. My nasi lemak. The national dish of Cahaya! If someone can steal my lunch, what's next? The national treasury?"

Jamal, munching on a bag of keropok, raised a hand. "Uh, maybe you ate it and forgot?"

Roy glared at him. "Do I look like someone who'd forget eating nasi lemak?"

"Actually…" Jamal began, but Aziz cut him off.

"This is no joke," Aziz said, adjusting his tie. "If the Prime Minister's lunch can go missing, it's a breach of security. We need answers."

The Investigation

Roy appointed Aziz as the lead investigator, giving him the full authority of "lunch marshal." Aziz took the job seriously, assembling a small team of government staff to comb through the office.

Step one was interviewing the staff.

• Mak Jah (Kitchen Staff):

"I packed the nasi lemak myself! The sambal was perfect, the peanuts were crispy, and the boiled egg was sliced just right. Why would I steal it?"

• Encik Faizal (Security Guard):

"I didn't see anything unusual, except the delivery guy who dropped off a huge pizza order this morning. But that's probably not related."

• Jamal (Minister of Finance):

"Look, I don't even like nasi lemak. I'm more of a roti canai guy. Besides, I've been in meetings all morning. Check the cameras!"

A Suspect Emerges

After hours of combing through the security footage, Aziz found a clue.

"Sir, we've got something," Aziz said, bursting into Roy's office.

Roy was sitting cross-legged on his desk, attempting to solve a Rubik's cube. "What is it? Did you find my sambal?"

Aziz placed a screenshot on the desk. The image showed a man in a delivery uniform sneaking into the staff pantry with a suspiciously nasi lemak-shaped container tucked under his arm.

"Who's that?" Roy asked.

"We don't know yet," Aziz admitted. "But he left a trail. He signed into the building as 'Encik Bob.'"

Roy raised an eyebrow. "Bob? That sounds fake."

Aziz nodded. "Exactly. And here's the kicker: he left behind a greasy fingerprint on the pantry door."

"Greasy, huh?" Roy muttered, stroking his chin like a detective. "Only someone who's handled sambal would leave a print like that."

The Stakeout

The next day, Aziz set up a stakeout in the staff pantry, determined to catch the culprit in the act. Roy insisted on joining, despite being completely unhelpful.

"Aziz," Roy whispered, crouched behind a potted plant. "I brought snacks."

"This isn't a picnic, sir," Aziz hissed.

"Snacks are crucial for stakeouts," Roy argued, popping a handful of peanuts into his mouth.

Hours passed with no sign of the thief. Just as Aziz was about to call it quits, the pantry door creaked open.

A man in the same delivery uniform as the footage entered, looking around nervously. In his hand was a Tupperware container.

"Gotcha!" Aziz shouted, leaping out from behind the plant.

The man froze, dropping the container. It hit the floor and burst open, revealing… curry puffs.

"Wait," Roy said, stepping forward. "Those aren't nasi lemak."

The man looked panicked. "Please don't arrest me! I'm just delivering lunch for the Minister of Sports. I swear, I didn't steal anything!"

The Real Culprit

After several more hours of sleuthing, the truth finally came out. It wasn't a spy or a saboteur. It was far worse.

"Sir," Aziz said grimly, holding up a report. "We found the culprit."

Roy leaned forward. "Who? Was it Encik Bob? The sports guy?"

"No," Aziz said. "It was the office cat. Meowster."

Roy blinked. "The cat?"

Aziz nodded. "The kitchen staff saw him dragging a nasi lemak packet under the table this morning. He must've gotten into your container when no one was looking."

Roy was silent for a moment, then burst out laughing. "The cat? That's amazing! What a clever little guy."

Aziz stared at him, incredulous. "Sir, this isn't funny. The Prime Minister's lunch was compromised!"

Roy shrugged. "Well, at least it wasn't a security breach. Besides, Meowster probably enjoyed it more than I would've."

The Aftermath

Roy decided not to punish Meowster. Instead, he declared the cat the "Official Guardian of the Prime Minister's Office" and gave him his own tiny desk.

The media, once again, had a field day with the story. Headlines like "Meowster Steals the PM's Heart (and Lunch)" and "Roy K: The Leader Who Forgave a Thief" dominated social media.

As for Roy? He ordered extra nasi lemak the next day, "just in case."
