The next morning, Astrid, Afton, and Nicholas readied themselves to return to Helheim and inform their mother that Klaus had died.
Ériu sat next to the fire and ate breakfast. She watched them preparing a sled to pull his body in. She had thought about carrying him, but she ultimately decided that it would be better if she continued alone through Sldir on her own. She didn't feel like she belonged in Helheim and it was unlikely that the goddess would send more of her children to their deaths, so instead of traveling the distance from here, to Helheim and back to here again, she had decided to stay.
Nicholas came over to his bag next to her chair and picked it up. He slung it over his shoulder. Then he looked at her, "well, we are going now. I just wanted to wish you good luck. You have really changed my mind about beasts. I hope you think of us fondly and as your relatives. That's how it should be between our pantheons, if only it could be that way."
She hugged the boy and thanked him. "I hope you all travel safely. I am so sorry that you all have to go through loss again. If I am able to find Sirius, I will look for Klaus. I promise you that."
Afton came over to Nicholas' side. "Thank you for keeping my sister safe."
Then she went back to the sled and Nicholas followed her.
"You know, my mother will revive Klaus. He won't turn to ash he is strong." He said convincingly. Attempting to convince himself.
Astrid came over and hugged Ériu and then returned to be with her siblings as well.
Ériu realized that she had even gained respect from Astrid in that moment. She wished they didn't have to go.
As soon as they left, Ériu put out the fire and shifted into mist, this time being careful not to touch the trees.

Odin walked through Asgard on a sunny morning, followed by two of his Valkyrie. He greeted the people warmly as he passed them. A huge smile on his face. The buildings were grand and made of white stone and golden metal with giant smooth pillars and intricately carved designs.
They reached a building with a tall golden archway that was guarded by two guards. Besides that, the building had a long wall that surrounded it and there were also guards on the wall.
As he entered the building, he began walking down the corridor along the rainbow bridge that led to the bifröst.
Heimdall stood waiting for him. He already knew he was coming before he had began the journey from Valhalla, the grand banquet hall.
He nodded as Odin greeted him. "Good morning Heimdall." Odin said.
"The boy has still not been found. I cannot see him Odin." Heimdall said before Odin could ask.
"I see. Well if he is dead. I assume you would have recieved word from Hel by now." Odin said.
"I have recieved word from Hel." Heimdall said sadly. "Odin I have terrible news, and I wish it weren't so, but it is my duty to inform you."
"What is it?" Odin asked, waiting for the news.
"Hel has informed me that he has indeed turned to ash. And she has lost her other son Klaus as well.
She has sent Nicholas to inform their families."
Heimdall looked at the guard that was standing behind Odin. "Timoteus, I am very grieved to inform you that one of the sons of Hel that has died is Sirius, your daughter was lost as well."
Odin smiled and then said, the two beasts of Helheim are finally gone. Now I won't have to worry about the fate of my son baldur.
Besides the beast Sirius wields, Krampus Klaus was always the most powerful of her sons."
Timoteus fell to his knees and Heimdall put his hand on his shoulder, answering the question on his mind. "I am so sorry Timoteus. It is a great loss to you, never would we think that we would lose your daughter, but a demon beast killed them.
I can assure you it was a very sudden death, so none of them suffered, but unfortunately they died in Nifilheim so they have been lost to the second death, or the endless void called Ginnungagap and I cannot see that far."
Timoteus clenched his fists. "Odin my king, let me catch that demon beast!" His wings sprouted in anger, he was one of the very few male Valkyrie. His wolf had been surrendered at his death to win this spot.
"I am afraid that would be a death mission for you my brave warrior, but Hel has agreed to give me Linus instead if he agrees to give up his wolf I can grant him a position here."
Timoteus hadn't seen his son in centuries and wanted to say yes but this was a decision for his son to make not him.
Seeing him hesitate, Heimdall interrupted to give more information.
"Klaus was killed attempting to find them and his soul was consumed by the roots of Yiggdrasil."
Then he turned to Odin once again. "The goddess said she will not send more people to search for Ginnungagap so there will be no more people sent to find them. She also nearly lost her daughter Astrid and without her, death would be endless torment."
"Please send her my condolences." Odin said." It takes a lot of power to bring down a demigod, but Yggdrasil has been around since before anything existed. I would consider it a noble death if I could. I am glad that Hel was able to reunite with Sirius, even if it was for a short time."
Timoteus knew that finding his daughter was impossible. "Please let me speak with Hel."
Odin raised an eyebrow.
"Please Allfather, I am always loyal to you as is my son but I wish to know my son's decision I cannot make it for him."
