章節 101: I Just Want a Single Ending [101]

"..."

Staring at the joker card mocking her on the table, Shiina Taki resigned herself to the fact that she'd lost.

The only annoying part? Kamigawa Saku would be the one deciding her penalty.

But a loss was a loss.

She could afford to lose.

"Truth or dare?"

Before Kamigawa could even open his mouth, Yamada Ryo jumped in eagerly, helping to pose the question.

As long as she wasn't the one punished, Ryo was more than happy to sit back and enjoy the show.

"…Truth."

Shiina Taki glanced at Kamigawa and made her choice.

To avoid the chance of him making her do something weird, truth was clearly the safer bet.

Thank goodness.

Kamigawa couldn't have been more pleased with her answer.

He'd been struggling with the lack of information on Shiina, finding it hard to get closer to her.

Now, the perfect opportunity to probe for details had fallen right into his lap.

Without a second thought, Kamigawa asked, "Alright then, tell me, what's your favorite thing?"

"Oh, and no people—that's a rule."

He already knew she liked Takamatsu Tomori; there was no need to hear it again.

"What kind of weirdo do you think I am?"

Shiina Taki knew exactly what he meant by "no people." He was talking about Takamatsu.

As if she'd make some embarrassing confession in front of everyone.

Relieved, she mentally exhaled. Even though she chose truth, she'd worried that Kamigawa might ask some awkward questions.

After all, her attitude toward him had been pretty harsh due to Takamatsu.

It wouldn't have been out of character for Kamigawa to use this opportunity to get back at her.

But instead, he'd asked something so... mundane.

What could she say?

In her mind, her opinion of him shifted, even if only a little.

He really was a decent guy.

"Alright, then please go ahead and answer."

Kamigawa had only added that disclaimer just to play it safe and not waste this precious chance.

Some weren't so thrilled with his question.

"How boring."

Yamada Ryo didn't hide her disappointment. This wasn't the kind of drama she wanted.

"I think it's interesting," Nijika Ijichi disagreed.

Most of the others seemed intrigued or curious.

Under everyone's watchful gaze, Shiina finally replied, "I like pandas."

"No way, really? Got any proof?"

Even as he asked, Kamigawa already knew the answer.

He remembered her LINE profile picture clearly—it was a panda.

"This enough proof for you?"

Shiina pulled her phone from her pocket and, turning on the screen, showed it to him.

Her lock screen wallpaper featured none other than a panda.

"Good enough." Kamigawa nodded, committing this valuable piece of intel to memory.

It seemed Shiina really liked pandas.

Otherwise, there was no way she'd set both her profile picture and lock screen to one.

If he wanted to get closer to her, maybe he could use this.

"So, you're a panda fan, huh?" Chihaya Anon mused.

"What about it?"

Shiina crossed her arms, unbothered by any potential embarrassment.

"Pandas are adorable! I love them too," Ikuyo Kita said with a smile.

Takamatsu Tomori added, "Round and fluffy…"

"Anyway, let's keep playing."

Shiina didn't want them dwelling on the topic.

Even if she didn't feel embarrassed about what she liked, the conversation was starting to feel a bit weird.

"Yeah, let's start round two."

Nagasaki Soyo quickly shuffled the cards and dealt them again.

---

In the following rounds, wins and losses rotated between the others.

When someone lost and picked truth, the questions were generally simple—like favorite places, interests, or music.

Even dares were fairly mild, ranging from doing a few squats to chugging a glass of juice.

Kamigawa could understand why things stayed mild.

The Kessoku Band girls and their group weren't very close yet, so this was their way of warming up.

Plus, there was Gotoh Hitori, who, despite winning once, couldn't bring herself to ask anything bold.

They were technically playing Old Maid with a mix of truth-or-dare, but really, it was just an excuse to chat.

And, of course, Yamada hadn't won a round yet.

To keep things fair and give everyone more chances to get to know each other, they even swapped seats occasionally.

At the moment, Kamigawa was sitting between Nagasaki Soyo and Takamatsu Tomori

---

"Choose wisely."

Kamigawa held up one Joker card and one Ace of Hearts, inviting Raana to draw.

This round was down to just him and Raana, the final 1v1.

Nagasaki Soyo had finished her cards first, meaning the loser would be subject to her punishment.

But as if a mere kitten could best him.

Just as he got distracted with that thought, Raana drew the Ace of Hearts.

"Well then, looks like Kamigawa's the loser this time."

With a delighted smile, Nagasaki Soyo declared the round's outcome.

"So, what'll it be? Truth or dare?"

[Truth]

[Dare]

Once again, the system options appeared before him.

"…"

In hindsight, maybe he shouldn't have jinxed himself.

"Finally, he's lost one."

Having done her fair share of squats, Yamada Ryo was slouched on the sofa, savoring his defeat.

As the round's loser, Kamigawa felt all eyes on him.

"I'll go with truth."

After a brief hesitation, Kamigawa made the safest choice.

Nothing complicated—he just felt uneasy about picking dare.

His instincts as a galgame expert told him this was the right call.

"What do you like, Kamigawa?"

Though a bit disappointed by his answer, Nagasaki Soyo still asked what she wanted to know.

She was curious about Kamigawa.

Unlike the question he'd asked Shiina earlier, she didn't put any restrictions on mentioning people.

Such a simple question?

Kamigawa was pleasantly surprised, even a little thrilled.

Raising Nagasaki's favorability seemed to be paying off.

Even in defeat, all she'd asked was a straightforward question.

If it were Yamada, who knew what she might've asked.

If you notice anything that feels off, just let me know—I don't mind fixing things up.

Oh, and don't forget to sit up, grab some water, and take it easy while you're here. No rush, right?
