Hunter Liu walked to the shore, waiting for him to arrive, knowing that Hunter Liu must be at the river's bottom and would soon surface. Sure enough, within five minutes, a black, slick head emerged from the water—it was Hunter Liu.
"Brother Hunter, hurry up and come ashore! The Skull Gang can't cross the bridge right now. Even if they try to find a boat, they'll still be at least half an hour slower than us."
Hunter Liu climbed up, looking at his wet self with some frustration. However, given the urgency of the situation, he didn't dwell on it. He spoke, "You did well. Now we must hurry back to Liu Song Village and have the village chief lead everyone away from the village. With our strength, there's no way we can fend off the Skull Gang's assault."
Although Hunter Liu didn't know much about the Skull Gang's full power, he knew they could easily summon several warriors at the Meridian Opening level. That was far beyond what Liu Song Village could withstand.
Hunter Liu was also aware of the cruelty of the gang's deputy leader, Zhou Longyun. If the Skull Gang encountered the villagers, the consequences would be devastating—something Hunter Liu could never allow.
"Understood, Brother Hunter, I'm with you," replied Liu Huihui with a smile, bringing over his horse. "Brother Hunter, let's hurry back to the village."
Hunter Liu smiled and, without another word, mounted the horse alongside Liu Huihui. Together, they galloped toward Liu Song Village.
Twenty minutes later, they arrived at the village entrance. However, something felt off—the village was unusually quiet, almost deserted, as if no one was there.
"Brother Hunter, what's going on? It feels so silent, almost empty, like no one's around," Liu Huihui noted, a flash of suspicion crossing his eyes.
Hunter Liu wasn't sure either. But soon, his brow raised slightly—he noticed someone standing in the distance at the village entrance, a familiar face.
It was a young girl who looked about seventeen or eighteen, wearing a simple dress with a touch of dust from travel. Her face, however, was strikingly beautiful, even more so than the top actresses Hunter Liu had seen on Earth in his previous life.
The girl held a wooden box in her hands, her eyes tinged with sorrow, making her look very pitiable.
Hunter Liu's face softened into a smile as he rode closer. However, when he saw the sadness in her expression, his smile faded slightly. "Liu Qin, why are you here alone? Where are the villagers?"
The girl raised her head, her almond-shaped eyes shimmering with tears. "Brother Hunter, the village chief has already led everyone away. I feel so sad about leaving my father and mother behind."
Hunter Liu frowned, quickly dismounting. "What happened exactly? Tell me in detail."
Liu Huihui also dismounted, asking, "Yes, Liu Qin, what's going on? How could the chief take everyone and leave within just a few hours without a single word?"
The girl, a fellow resident of Liu Song Village named Liu Qin, had grown up with Hunter Liu and Liu Huihui. They shared a close bond.
Liu Qin explained, "I'm not entirely sure of the details. But before the village chief led everyone away, he met with me briefly. He didn't say much, only gave me a box with three pouches inside. He said that if you open one, you'll understand what's going on."
Hearing this, a look of confusion crossed Hunter Liu's face. However, he felt slightly reassured. If the village chief had arranged this, there must be a reason.
Hunter Liu had been raised by the village chief since childhood, living with him for eighteen years. He knew the village chief always had Liu Song Village's best interests in mind and also possessed another identity: that of a seer.
Setting aside his concerns, Hunter Liu said, "Since the village chief planned this, we don't need to worry. And you don't need to be sad. With Liu Song Village in trouble, the chief naturally had to lead everyone to safety. Once the danger passes, he'll surely bring the villagers back, and then you'll see your parents again."
Liu Qin nodded slightly, but a hint of unease remained. She felt this separation wouldn't be so simple.
Hunter Liu smiled and said, "Alright, hand over the three pouches the chief left for me. I'll see what guidance he has for us."
