Cain's POV:
He's a man. How can I be attracted to a man!
It had been subtle at first, and he had simply chucked it up to the light purple colour of his eyes which was a signature of witches until Ravon walked into his office with the man beside him.
'He's a spy just like the rest of them but was he also sent to seduce me?!' Cain thought digging the knife deeper until he saw a drop of blood stain the knife his eyes focused on the skinny man he held in his hand whose neck he could snap with just a little more strength.
"You're a man! My uncle has always sent women and I smell nothing on you!" he mumbled to himself even as his grip on his personal servant unconsciously tightened his eyes blazing with hidden fury as he tried to keep a tight reign on his anger lest his beast awaken.
He was still staring at the man when he suddenly felt his body slaken in his hold, which Cain responded by simply letting him go, watching him immediately crumple to the ground.
'He fainted!' a sneer flashing across his face at how weak he was even as his gaze was fixed on a face he could no longer deny he was attracted to.
He's a man!
Anger boiling within Cain at just the idea of it that he was tempted to tear the young man's clothes off just to make sure, something he would have done if he wasn't convinced he would actually kill him the second he found out.
Instead of standing there, Cain simply turned around and walked back to his chair, reading the reports of the businesses he owed and trying to solve the difficulties they had without having to show up there himself.
'If I could get my beast under control—' he thought knowing that he would stop him from becoming irrational and suddenly exploding in anger, his fingers clenching even as he broke the pen he held as he read the part of the report that showed that the men his uncle had sent to help him were actually the ones trying to ruin his businesses and companies.
'He already has me under his thumb with the medicine, what more could be want!' muttering under his breath as he glared at the report feeling his body start to heat up even as he immediately struggled to become completely apathetic until his emotions became nothing more than air.
'Does it matter! Does any of this matter!' clenching his fists until he heard his bones creak as he held back the urge to break the table and continue everything in his path was completely destroyed.
Yet, the more he tried to hold it back, the worse it became.
**************
Violet had just woken up when she immediately scrambled to her feet, her eyes blinking as she lifted her hand to her face to truly confirm that her eyes were intact and there was nothing wrong with there.
The stinging at the corner of her eyes the only proof that her eyes had indeed been almost gorged out.
"You're awake!" Cain's deep familiar voice sent her face jerking to the side as she watched him draped in nothing but a towel. Her first reaction was to scramble back in fear which she did with her eyes widened in horror until she watched him move instead to the huge curtains by the wall, parting it to reveal high transparent windows that showed a balcony, and the beauty of the night sky.
"I hope you had a restful sleep. It's 8:00pm," his words striking the core of her soul like an hammer as she slowly understood exactly what he was trying to say.
'Less than four hours! …fifty pages of work she could never complete!'
"I'll finish in time!" Violet responded with a bow even as she fully lied through her teeth, unable to control her mind from recalling the sight of his ripped body which she had seen. Bulging muscles as he stood more than six feet tall. Blonde hair and face that looked like it had been etched by God's hands himself.
"I'm sure Ravon mentioned the Medicine. Get it from him!" Cain ordered and Violet immediately bowed, nodding her head vigorously to show that she fully understood what he was trying to say before making her way out of the room.
Heading down the corridor and straight down the stairs to the second floor to where she hoped Ravon's office was. After getting lost twice, she was finally able to get there, knocking carefully on the door and waiting patiently to be let in.
It didn't take long before she heard Ravon's voice ordering her to enter almost like he had been waiting for her arrival.
"You're late!" he barked at her the second she went in even before she could move towards him and offer the usual how to waist that was required for him.
"My-my apologies. I got lost!" she said, quickly apologizing with hopes that she wouldn't have to remain in the office for much longer. The office was huge but nowhere as huge as Cain's wing.
It also seemed to have a bar and doors that led somewhere else even though Violet knew better than to glance at it more than once.
"Its good enough that you aren't dead yet even with your witch eyes. You're lucky!" he said, his words confusing Violet even as he continued to speak. "Did anything happen?" he then went ahead to ask in a not so subtle manner to which Violet was already shaking her head before he was done.
"Nothing happe—" cut off, her eyes widening in shock as she watched Ravon appear right in front of her placing his hands on her shoulder even as he applied adequate force.
His Brown eyes much darker than before as he gazed right into her eyes, "Boy! I know you better than you know yourself. You're not lying to me are you?"
His words clearly threatening even as Violet began to respond with the same response she had been about to give only to suddenly freeze as she felt Ravon lean closer to whisper in her ears.
"I know your secrets!" his words more than enough to make her knees tremble, her willpower the only thing that kept her standing, as she managed to keep a blank expression on her face.
