章節 90: Firepower Coverage

At this moment, Bai Yi had already arrived in the inner city area and glanced at the giant mechanical dragon disappearing into the sky. His face hardened as he entered the Apocalypse camp, his expression serious.

The soldiers saluted him one by one. The military salute here resembled that of a knight's, primarily because etiquette wasn't given much importance in this world. People instinctively imitated the original nobles, and the military salute evolved into its current form: the right fist clenched and placed on the left shoulder, with a slight bow at the waist.

Bai Yi walked into the intercontinental missile launch base. There, twenty-four intercontinental railguns were stationed. The base was high-tech, featuring large screens that monitored the area outside the city gates. However, due to the absence of satellites, detecting distant targets remained impossible, and the base relied heavily on network coverage to lock onto targets.

Currently, the network towers in Dongwu City could cover an area up to one hundred kilometers beyond the city walls. This meant that while the missiles from the silo could reach up to five thousand kilometers in the direction of the Federation, their range was limited to one hundred kilometers for targets outside the city.

Bai Yi had already informed the Comman family about this limitation during the legion's reorganization, but Sunu, currently busy, would take time to extend the signal towers and increase network coverage. However, this delay posed no immediate problem. The computing power of the intercontinental missile base was sufficient to maintain targeting accuracy, ensuring minimal error.

As long as the coordinates were available, calculations could allow the missiles to strike targets even at extreme distances. Bai Yi had already asked Bolton to gather coordinates from the mutation zone, ensuring the missile base's effectiveness.

"Mr. White Plague."

Sifu stood up and greeted him respectfully. "Any mission?"

Sifu's quarters had been moved here, as Bai Yi had ordered him to personally guard the launch silo. Although other personnel could take over, Sifu would not leave unless assigned another task. He understood the importance of this silo.

The nearby bronze alchemist technicians also stood, greeting Bai Yi with admiration. Among the alchemists in Dongwu City, Bai Yi was highly respected, and when conversing with professionals from other fields, they sometimes carried a sense of superiority.

"No, just watch," Bai Yi replied, not needing anyone's approval to launch the missile. He walked to the control panel and began adjusting the instruments.

Gradually, data appeared on the large screens, followed by a chaotic image. It seemed as though Bai Yi's vision was moving at incredible speed, causing the Earth to blur before his eyes. The only distinct features were the distant mountains.

The Dark Valley mutation area lay approximately 3,000 kilometers from Dongwu City. Even at Mach 5, it would take half an hour to reach. However, the missiles could cover that distance in just five minutes.

Bai Yi continued adjusting the launch silo. Slowly, the massive steel door of the silo opened, revealing the deep gun barrel. Long missiles, over ten meters each, were visible, evoking a sense of awe.

"What type of energy is used in the missiles now?" Bai Yi asked suddenly.

"Eight of each—Fire, Thunder, and Ice," an alchemist replied promptly.

"Replace them all with flame," Bai Yi ordered calmly.

"Yes, sir." Nearly ten alchemists walked out of the room, but the last one hesitated, silently nodding to his companions before returning to his post.

Bai Yi noticed the pause but didn't comment, continuing to fine-tune the data. The alchemist, however, quietly took out a small monitor and recorded Bai Yi's actions. Observing an inventor's demonstration was a valuable learning experience.

Dark Valley

The Angel of the Night Rose paused, eyes filled with frustration.

"What's wrong?" asked a hoarse voice from a figure draped in a robe and wizard's hood. He was a lower-level gold wizard from the Night Rose base camp.

"The branch in Tobu City is gone. I didn't expect it to happen so soon," the angel replied, his tone bleak.

The wizard frowned, pondering for a moment before asking, "What was that miracle yesterday?"

"Wonders do not die, but the data is lost. It will take a long time to recover it, so it should be destroyed," the angel said with regret before turning toward the blood-red valley ahead.

The wizard followed, his expression serious. "The White Plague network makes it harder for us to act. Plus, the Federation is targeting us now, and the Supreme hasn't responded. Is there really a new world?"

"Shut up!" the angel snapped, though confusion flickered in his ancient eyes. He quickly recovered and said firmly, "Yes, you must believe in the guidance of the Supreme."

Like others in the Night Rose, even those at the gold rank—the peak of this era—didn't understand what the Supreme's "new world" meant. They only knew to follow His guidance, expand their power, absorb talent, and control resources.

They didn't know more. But as gold-ranked beings, they could feel that their Supreme was waiting, though they didn't understand what for.

Now, the Supreme wanted Bai Yi dead. The old city lord stood in their way, but if the city fell into chaos, they would still have a chance.

The wizard said nothing, his hooded eyes reflecting uncertainty as he followed the angel into the Dark Valley.

The valley ground was black, in stark contrast to the blood-red earth of the White Plague. Here, the feeling was one of coldness rather than tyranny.

The mountains on either side were also painted black. After only a few steps, both the angel and the wizard sensed they were being watched.

Buzz~

A cold shiver ran down their spines as flames erupted around the wizard's body, instantly incinerating a mutated ghost that had screamed in pain.

The angel and wizard exchanged glances. The gold-ranked mages emanated powerful pressure, and the monsters lurking in the shadows withdrew.

The angel glanced at the aura rising from the valley's depths and murmured, "Let's begin. He won't refuse."

The wizard nodded, hands raised, beginning a chant in an eerie, unknown tongue. The air grew thick with a sinister presence.

A twisted sphere formed in his hands, flesh and blood rolling on its surface, tentacles appearing and vanishing. Terrifying creatures, such as giant cockroaches covered in eyes and grotesque lizards with mouths everywhere, emerged from the shadows. Their bodies seemed both illusory and real, enough to make one feel nauseous.

"The Lord from the Abyss, the great being of madness, nightmare, and distortion, the mystery of the night, seeks to strike a deal with you. The great flesh and blood of the Lord of the Abyss, in exchange for your insignificant clone on Xia Continent."

As the wizard chanted, the angel raised his hands, summoning a sacrificial ritual, powerful magic drawn into existence.

The wizard continued, "The great night will remember your kindness, bringing madness, nightmares, and distortion to this world. Fear will become your representative, and the night your cover. All intelligent creatures will remember your name, the great Lord of the Abyss, Frederick Stewart. Please respond to the call of the night."

The air thickened with power as the sacrificial formation began to glow with an unsettling red hue. The distorted aura deep in the valley hesitated as an otherworldly presence seemed to respond.

The Lord of the Abyss, a powerful demigod, was contemplating. The flesh and blood of the God seemed a better prize than a mutation zone he'd spent so much effort forming. But the mutation zone helped him gather souls, feeding his power, while the flesh would help him understand divine rules.

"Roar~"

Suddenly, a shadow passed across the sky. The massive mechanical dragon hovered above them, exhaling the breath of death. Its presence was so overpowering that the mutated monsters below were forced to retreat.

The angel and wizard exchanged wary glances, then continued their prayer, urging the demigod to act.

The dragon did not attack but circled the valley, its gaze shifting between the angel, the wizard, and the monsters in the mutation zone.

The demigod hesitated, but the wizard's chant began to grow more frantic, sensing that the flesh and blood might slip away if he didn't act fast.

The valley was thick with tension as the ritual reached its peak.
