章節 256: Chapter 256: Konoha F4 Completely Falls Apart
"Are you kidding me?! Let me be the captain of your Hokage Guard!!!"
Shimura Danzo's voice was filled with fury as he confronted the Third Hokage.
The Third Hokage, already prepared for this outburst, replied calmly, trying to defuse the tension.
"Danzo, all the important positions in the village are occupied. I can't just push others aside for you, can I?"
"I want the position of the leader of the jonin squad," Danzo demanded, his anger unabated.
"Impossible!" The Third Hokage's tone was firm. "Even if I had to choose someone from the Nara clan to fill that position again, I wouldn't give it to you."
Danzo's frustration boiled over. "Then at least give me a chance to form a special department—something like the Anbu. You've always kept Anbu out of my control. I know you're restricting my influence."
After being turned down for the jonin squad leader position, Danzo chose to negotiate. He proposed creating a new department, confident the Third Hokage would support him. After all, Danzo reasoned, the Hokage would need a covert group to handle tasks that couldn't be carried out openly—similar to what the Anbu had done in the past.
"I'll consider it," the Third Hokage replied cautiously. Danzo's logic wasn't entirely wrong, but setting up a new department required careful planning. "I'll give you an answer soon."
Shimura Danzo left without another word, heading back to his family. Despite his determination, he knew his reputation was in tatters after his actions—attacking fellow Konoha ninjas and betraying the village's interests. If he hoped to recover, he would need to make significant contributions to the village.
While the idea of a new department brewed, tensions remained high within the Hokage's circle. Tsunade privately expressed her concerns to the Third Hokage about Danzo causing more trouble. However, reassured by the Third Hokage's promise to keep Danzo out of major public roles, she felt somewhat relieved.
Danzo's influence was waning, and the younger generation—like Nawaki, Kushina, and Minato—were safely out of his reach. With Shinki's puppets guarding them, Danzo wouldn't dare make a move.
Meanwhile, Danzo attempted to rally support, inviting Utatane Koharu and Mitokado Hamura to a private meeting.
Mitokado Hamura declined outright, having grown disillusioned with Danzo. He had no interest in rekindling their old alliances, especially after seeing the chaos Danzo had caused. "Not worth my time," Hamura had muttered, ignoring the invitation entirely.
Only Koharu showed up, and even she didn't hide her disdain. "Hiruzen and Hamura won't come. And as for Tsunade? She wouldn't touch this with a ten-foot pole. You're on your own," she said coldly.
Danzo glared at her, his temper flaring. "Do you enjoy mocking me, Koharu?"
Koharu remained unfazed. "Mocking? No, I'm just stating facts. Since your little schemes failed, Hamura has cut ties, and honestly, I should too."
Danzo snapped back, "You're the foolish one, Koharu! If you hadn't opened a third front against the Third Kazekage back then, we wouldn't even be in this mess. You should be grateful Hamura saved you. Otherwise, you'd be dead!"
The insult struck a nerve. Koharu's composure shattered as she yelled, "What did you just say?!"
"I said you're stupid," Danzo spat, his disdain clear. "If it weren't for your recklessness, we wouldn't be dealing with this fallout. Everything you've done has been a disaster."
"Get lost, Danzo!" Koharu stormed out, furious. She regretted attending the meeting, vowing never to indulge Danzo again.
Watching her leave, Danzo sat in silence, realizing his mistake. He had hoped to intimidate Koharu into compliance, but instead, he had only pushed her further away. His once-reliable allies were no longer willing to tolerate his arrogance.
The Third Hokage entered the scene, shaking his head. "Danzo, I warned you about Koharu's temper. She hasn't been the same since her injury. Did you seriously think insulting her would help?"
"Are you here to gloat?" Danzo growled, his voice cold.
"No," the Hokage replied. "I'm here to deliver a message from Hamura. He said he wants nothing more to do with you. Don't bother contacting him again. And don't expect any assistance—on anything."
Danzo's face darkened, but the Hokage continued before he could respond.
"As for your proposed department, I'll bring it up at the next high-level meeting. But these things take time, and you'll need to be patient. Don't expect a quick answer."
With that, the Third Hokage turned and left, leaving Danzo to stew in his frustration and dwindling influence. The once-formidable figure of Konoha's inner circle now stood alone, his power crumbling under the weight of his miscalculations.
