39.82% As Homelander In Multiverse / Chapter 45: Chapter 45: Insignificant Mortals

章節 45: Chapter 45: Insignificant Mortals

[Bio-Field: Retains all the effects of 'Steel Body +2.' This ability allows you to protect yourself and nearby objects from harm, shielding against environmental conditions. It can extend to any object or individual you touch, preserving their structure and protecting them from physical forces.]

---

Reading the description, a grin tugged at the corners of Homelander's mouth.

He'd finally unlocked Bio-Field—a power even the Homelander from The Boys universe didn't possess. With this ability, he no longer needed to take enemy attacks head-on.

All attacks would now be intercepted by the Bio-Field, preventing any direct contact with his body unless the attack could penetrate the shield itself.

Moreover, the field offered environmental insulation. No more discomfort from high-altitude cold, and even diving into molten lava wouldn't harm him.

What made it even better was that the Bio-Field could extend to anything or anyone he touched, protecting them from pressure damage and allowing them to accelerate or halt alongside him without harm.

With Bio-Field for defense, Heat Vision for offense, and Self-Replication for tactical maneuvers, Homelander could feel himself becoming stronger than ever.

The door to the command room swung open.

Ashley entered, clutching a tablet to her chest, her heels clicking urgently across the floor.

"Homelander, we've got a problem."

He turned toward her, still riding the high of his recent upgrade.

Ashley didn't waste time and switched on the television.

On the screen, a video began to play.

It showed footage of Homelander descending from the sky into the military camp. Moments later, it cut to the scene where he hurled a military officer into the air with little effort.

The camera shifted again, now showing a gruesome sight—a bloody smear and the mangled remains of the officer, censored with heavy pixelation.

More clips followed: Homelander tearing apart an ambulance, then blowing up the Vaught Mall parking lot.

Ashley glanced nervously at Homelander. He didn't seem concerned in the slightest—if anything, he wore an amused smile, as if watching someone else's drama unfold.

The screen switched to a talk show host.

"This is outrageous!" the host exclaimed.

"Didn't Homelander himself say recently that even superheroes need to obey the law? Is this what he meant by following the law?"

The host gestured to the screen behind him, where stills of Homelander's destruction played on a loop.

"As you can see, he's been disrupting public order, destroying public property, and in one recent incident, he even killed a military officer!"

"In my eyes, he's nothing but a thug! A monster in disguise!"

The host leaned forward, his expression solemn.

"Now, let's hear from Colonel Yuri."

The camera panned to Colonel Yuri, who had overseen the Silver Tree Town operation. He nodded slightly toward the camera.

"So, Colonel Yuri," the host began, "there were reports of temporary military control in a small town recently. Can you confirm that?"

"Yes," the colonel replied.

The host pressed on, "It seems like the situation there was pretty serious. You even set up a temporary camp—was it the one we saw in the earlier footage?"

"That's correct," Yuri confirmed with a nod.

The host continued, "Now, can you tell us what exactly happened that day with Homelander? I heard that neither he nor the Seven were supposed to be involved in this operation. Is that true?"

Yuri nodded again.

"Yes, the operation fell under military jurisdiction. We were ordered to maintain control over the area, and other parties—Homelander and the Seven included—were not authorized to interfere."

The host leaned in with a sly grin.

"But Homelander interfered anyway, didn't he?"

Yuri hesitated for a moment. "Yes… unfortunately, he did."

"I have to ask," the host said, feigning curiosity, "what happened to that unfortunate officer? The one who got tossed into the air?"

"Was it murder, Colonel? Did Homelander intentionally kill one of your men?"

Yuri looked uncomfortable, then slowly shook his head.

"It was an accident," he explained. "Sergeant Mac was upset—he tried to stop Homelander, and his words became… aggressive, even disrespectful. I don't think Homelander intended to harm him. He just misjudged his own strength."

The host sighed dramatically.

"Poor Sergeant Mac. All because he raised his voice a little, and now he's been turned into an involuntary skydiver—with no parachute."

The host turned back to the camera.

"Regardless, Homelander's actions have violated several federal laws. The Department of Homeland Security has already filed a complaint with the Federal Supreme Court."

The host pointed directly at the camera, as if addressing Homelander himself.

"Homelander, the law isn't a joke. You've crossed the line."

"It's time for you to face the consequences of your recklessness!"

The host paused for effect before delivering the final blow.

"I've just received word—Homelander has been summoned to appear at a hearing three days from now. The Federal Supreme Court expects him to answer for his actions."

"I can't wait to see what excuses he comes up with."

"We'll soon find out if Homelander is truly an angel protecting us… or a devil running rampant!"

"And now, a quick commercial break before we dive into more details with Colonel Yuri."

---

Ashley muted the TV and turned to face Homelander.

"This is serious. The DHS charges are piling up, and they've already scheduled a meeting with the legal team this afternoon. You need to meet with them."

Homelander burst into laughter, spreading his arms wide.

"Ah, these politicians!" he scoffed.

"Not a word about what I stopped or the lives I saved."

He paced around the room, his tone dripping with sarcasm.

"Those fat pigs can sip coffee in their offices, fool around with their mistresses, and live their cushy lives… all because someone like me keeps the darkness at bay."

"And now?" He paused, eyes narrowing.

"All they care about is that I broke some public property and gave a disrespectful little soldier a one-way trip to the stratosphere."

"These fools have grown far too comfortable."

Homelander's expression shifted into a cold smile, his gaze darkening.

"Maybe it's time," he whispered, "to remind them just how small they really are."
