章節 70: The Adorable Little Cat

Beside the fountain surrounded by the crowd, the indifferent man slightly lowered his head, his long gray-white hair casting a shadow over his expression. Yet within the recesses of his mind, sinister whispers erupted in gleeful laughter.

(Ha ha ha... You human lad, you really have taken to the streets to perform, ha ha ha... The esteemed Lord of Winter, a formidable being commanding legions of magical beasts, has stooped to the level of street performer; how truly pathetic your situation is—ha ha ha... You slay me.)

"..." With an indifferent touch to the worn guitar in his hands, Xiao Mu Yu remained silent.

(Well... I can understand what you are thinking. You wish to maintain a virtuous image in front of our little friend Annie, don't you? This little girl, a seventh-tier sorceress, would rather sell trinkets on the street than use her magic to steal when she is penniless. How noble—yet how foolish!)

(And you, to preserve her regard for you, must also play the role of a 'virtuous person.' Heh heh... Are you not frustrated? Like a monkey under scrutiny... ha ha ha...)

"..." Ignoring the demon's taunts, the indifferent man brushed his temples, observing the dissipating crowd as he stood up, preparing to conclude his performance and depart.

At that moment, the little girl collecting coins in the crowd suddenly exclaimed with delight, "Wow!!! Big brother! Look! Come see! This little cat is so cute!!"

The next instant, an indignant, youthful voice rang out among the crowd, "Little... little cat? You dare to call me a cat? Ahhhh... You human child, how dare you offend the great Captain Teemo! You... you... are doomed! Not even the Goddess of Creation can save you now."

"Wow! It can talk! Big brother, come see, this little cat can talk!" Annie's voice was filled with joy and excitement, as if she had discovered a new world.

"..." Turning around, Xiao Mu Yu beheld the sight of the squatting little girl and a creature no taller than her chest... a raccoon?

(Oh? A Yordle? Heh heh... Quite rare indeed. Those little folk have not been wiped out? Remarkable! In my time, their entire population barely numbered in the thousands. Who would have thought they would endure for so long? Heh heh... This race truly possesses a resilient vitality.)

The demon's voice echoed with surprise in his mind.

Disregarding the demon's astonishment, Xiao Mu Yu coldly approached Annie, silently observing the excited little girl clutching her coin jar.

This little creature, shorter than her by a head... indeed, this Yordle known as "Captain Teemo" resembled a large plush toy, its furry form appearing quite endearing to most women.

However, for Xiao Mu Yu, apart from the faint, peculiar aura suggesting it was an eighth-tier warrior, no amount of cuteness could capture his attention.

Indifferently, he approached Annie, glancing down at Teemo, who was engaging in a fierce stare-off with the little girl. Xiao Mu Yu gently patted Annie's head and said coldly, "Let's go, Annie; we still need to buy our tickets."

"Oh..." Reluctantly nodding, the little girl followed Xiao Mu Yu, glancing back as they left, "Goodbye, little kitty!"

Watching the little girl wave goodbye while still feeling a sense of loss, Teemo's fury ignited. The small creature jumped up and down, shaking its chubby little arms and shouting angrily, "I am NOT a little kitty!!! You are the cat!! Your whole family are cats!!"

"Hehe..." A light laugh emanated from behind. Riven, the silver-haired woman, approached Teemo with a smile, saying, "That little girl is quite adorable."

"Adorable?" In that moment, the diminutive Captain Teemo felt his intelligence had been gravely insulted. He sprang up three feet high, exaggeratingly exclaiming, "That's clearly a little demon who cannot distinguish right from wrong! Riven, did you not notice? That little girl is already a seventh-tier sorceress at such a young age! How old is she? Such a talent cannot exist in this world! I say, she must be a demon disguised as a human girl!"

"A demon, you say? Your reasoning does hold some merit," Riven nodded seriously at Teemo's assertion, though her beautiful ruby-like eyes sparkled with amusement. "However, if that little girl were indeed a demon, how could her power be limited to the seventh tier? Such strength is far too weak for a demon."

"Hmph! You just don't understand," Teemo retorted smugly, raising a chubby finger as if unveiling a grand conspiracy, "Demons are masters of disguise! Yet this little demon clearly lacks understanding of human society. While seventh-tier power is weak for demons, she does not realize it is quite formidable for humans, indicating this little demon is new to our world and lacks basic knowledge, thus exposing these flaws."

"Well... your argument does seem somewhat reasonable," Riven crossed her arms, stroking her chin as if contemplating Teemo's "discovery." "But are you certain your judgment is not clouded by the fact that this little girl called you a kitty, leading you to falsely accuse her?"

"How... how could that be!" Teemo leaped up as if the ground were on fire, frantically waving his chubby little arms and shouting, "I... I am the valiant and just Captain Teemo! How... how could I be so petty as to accuse someone just because they called me a little cat? I... I am not that kind of person!"

"Ha ha..." Amused by Teemo's flustered defense, Riven laughed heartily. "So, if you claim this little girl is a demon, does that mean the gentleman beside her is also a demon? He possesses ninth-tier strength, after all."

"Uh... well..." Teemo found himself troubled by Riven's question. The little fellow frowned, pondering in distress, "Logically, he should also be a demon, but... but how could someone who plays such beautiful music possibly be a demon? Yet if he is not a demon, why would he associate with one? Ahhh... this is so perplexing."

"Why not just ask him?" Riven suggested with a smile.

Uh... ask him? Teemo lowered his head, contemplating. If he were to inquire and then be mocked by that little girl as "little kitty" again...

Of course, that was not the main concern; the real issue was the look in her eyes when she regarded him. Just thinking about it sent a shiver down the spine of the fearless Captain Teemo.

Since leaving Bandle City, he had encountered many terrifying women with that very gaze. Generally, when a woman looked at him like that, the next moment she would leap upon him, treating him like a plush doll to be ravaged.

Too... too frightening! Human women are terrifying!!! The women outside are so frightening! Reflecting on the terrifying encounters he had faced along the way, the illustrious and valiant Captain Teemo began to tremble, even struggling to articulate, "N... no! I won't go!!! I refuse to go!!!"

Seeing the little creature quaking even while walking, Riven erupted into laughter, utterly losing her composure.

"Ha ha ha ha..."
