Eddie thought back to how Venom had recently ranked last in the superhero rankings published by Daily Bugle , making him uneasy.
The people who voted didn't even understand Venom's true importance.
Without Venom, no one would even know about the superheroes currently on the scene. In that sense, Venom was the most important.
Eddie was lost in his thoughts when the situation suddenly reversed.
Before the Rhino and Boar could say anything, they were being overwhelmed by Green Arrow, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and Spider-Man.
Despite their thick skin and boundless strength, facing several opponents who were just as capable or even stronger, combined with their lack of combat experience, the two were quickly overwhelmed.
The four turtles kept the two at bay, while Spider-Man used his webbing to interfere.
Green Arrow periodically fired arrows, each loaded with different types of ammunition, making life miserable for the Rhino and Boar.
"Spider-Man!"
Green Arrow suddenly called out. "You go inside the building to help the Daredevil. We'll handle things here."
"Daredevil!"
Spider-Man snapped back to reality and nodded.
Just as he was about to change locations, he glanced up at the nearly completed alien spaceship—or perhaps it was an alien warship.
"What about that thing?" he asked.
"Cyborg's about to move."
Green Arrow glanced upward, a slight smirk tugging at the corners of his lips. "Besides, isn't Iron Man working hard?"
"Okay."
Spider-Man didn't press further.
He knew that Batman, who hadn't yet appeared, must be observing everything happening at the moment.
After all, Batman wouldn't be caught off guard; he would be preparing and would gather everyone as soon as things escalated.
It was worth noting that this realization actually brought Nick Fury some relief. He knew Batman wouldn't sit idly by.
Once S.H.I.E.L.D. confirmed that they couldn't handle the situation, Batman would inevitably summon the Justice League to take action.
"Batman, Spider-Man, Daredevil, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Arrow, Cyborg, Venom..." Fury muttered to himself, his expression serious.
"This can't be all the cards you have up your sleeve..."
Thinking about the comic characters from DC Comics that have yet to appear in the real world, and wondering whether there will be any new additions in the future, is quite a headache.
Arrow and Cyborg were originally fictional characters. Even Batman could be classified as part of this group.
There are many reason for Fury to believe that behind Batman, there is a mysterious power at play.
At least, the characters appearing publicly are just Batman's visible support. Secretly, Batman likely hides even deeper trump cards.
Otherwise, it's impossible to explain how Batman knew about S.H.I.E.L.D.'s secrets. Even Hydra, so covert that even the Director didn't know its stubborn presence, was something Batman had uncovered.
"Batman..."
Fury muttered, his mood both relieved and heavy.
On one hand, the incident seemed to be turning in a favorable direction for S.H.I.E.L.D. after their setbacks, with no need to use their hidden cards.
But on the other hand, a mysterious force had appeared on Earth. Batman represented this force.
Though Batman is a superhero now, who knows? A man with extraordinary power and immense influence could one day lose control of his ambition.
Boom!
As these thoughts raced through his mind, a deafening explosion echoed above.
Looking up, Fury and Coulson saw that the sky, under dark clouds, seemed to be exploding with fireworks as huge flashes of fire lit up all around.
Tony Stark as Iron Man was rapidly approaching the nearly completed circular alien warship.
Fury had learned from Tony that this ship was called the Technodrome, controlled by an alien named Krang.
Whoosh, whoosh!
Tony pushed forward, trying to get closer to the warship, but was blocked by its defense system. Countless energy shells fired, preventing Tony from advancing.
Anyone who came within fifty meters of the technodrome would be bombarded by a dense array of shells, forcing them to retreat.
At this point, Tony's armor showed signs of heavy damage, with numerous dent marks.
His energy levels were rapidly depleting.
"Sir, only 57% of energy remains..." Jarvis's voice reported.
Tony gritted his teeth. It was too late to enter the technodrome.
Once it was fully assembled, the warship would become an extremely powerful alien weapon, at least twice as formidable as it was now.
"Damn it!" Tony's mind raced.
Though he felt weaker, giving up was not an option for him.
"Use all missiles!"
Tony ordered. "Jarvis, blow a path for me!"
"Understood!"
As the command was given, the armor shifted to reveal hidden miniature missiles, which Tony launched at the technodrome.
Almost all citizens in the New York area witnessed the spectacle in the sky.
Iron Man's ongoing struggle caused a sense of hopelessness among them. The Batman they had longed to see had yet to appear, leading some to wonder if Batman had abandoned the city altogether.
Before the news spread, people didn't know what had happened near the TCRI building. The only thing they could see was the battle taking place overhead in the sky.
Recently, the new superhero, Iron Man, played by the playboy Tony Stark, was fighting for them up there.
However, the citizens of New York also witnessed Iron Man's defeat.
"Iron Man, come on!"
"Why hasn't Batman appeared yet?"
"What about the other superheroes? Why aren't they helping?"
The people felt unprecedented anxiety.
As they saw Iron Man struggling to breach the circular spacecraft's defense, they wished the attacks could help immediately, tearing a hole in the ship's defenses.
Rumble! Rumble!
Suddenly, Iron Man launched miniature missiles from all over his body. Many astute observers recognized this as Iron Man's... final attempt.
"Come on, Iron Man!"
A child's cry echoed from the distance.
But in that tense moment, no one was in the mood to smile. Everyone's eyes were fixed on the missiles.
"What a primitive weapon!"
Then, a hole appeared in the circular spaceship.
A platform extended from the hole, and a robot stood on it.
In the center of the robot's thick waist was a pink jellyfish like creature, which faced Iron Man, showing its teeth and claws in a posture that exuded disdain.
"Jellyfish?"
Tony squinted his eyes. Boom!
The next moment, all the miniature missiles he had fired were blocked by the near-impenetrable defenses of the technodrome.
Then, a terrifying energy ray shot toward Tony.
His armor froze instantly, immobilizing him as if he were trapped in chains . Inside the suit, Tony struggled, his face showing disbelief.
"Sir, the armor has been frozen by ice," Jarvis reported.
"This ice layer is formed by energy rays. We won't be able to break it quickly. Good luck."
"What?"
Tony's eyes widened as he plummeted from the sky.
As people watched, despair spread across their hearts, as if they could foresee the destruction of New York and the fall of Earth in the near future.
At the crucial moment... Whoosh!
A figure streaked through the sky like a meteor, reaching the scene in an instant to catch the falling Tony.
"Cyborg!"
The citizens of New York recognized the figure.
At the same time, they also saw a black, sleek car speeding through the sky, arriving at the scene at an incredible speed.
"That's the Batmobile!"
"It's Batman! He's finally here!"
