章節 135: Gun Drawing Technique

"Since you have a fondness for the black Triple Star, you will surely appreciate the Infernal Lance, also crafted by the same master. This handgun features an extended barrel, boasting an unparalleled range among handguns, and an impressive firing rate, capable of holding thirty-five silver demon-slaying rounds, making it the handgun with the largest magazine capacity.

Its greatest advantage lies in its ability to accommodate a card of level three or lower, such as a spatial card with a capacity of one hundred thousand rounds, or a special card that enhances shooting accuracy. With such features, achieving perfect accuracy and dynamic vision becomes readily attainable! By inserting a functional card into the firearm, I could also gain an additional quick spell.

Miki's introduction instantly reminded me of these two cards. The name "Infernal Lance" may seem peculiar, yet its design is remarkably robust, contrasting sharply with the inconspicuous elegance of the black Triple Star; it is hard to believe they were conceived by the same designer.

While Miki's descriptions of the two psionic firearms were indeed impressive, I felt an inclination to find a weapon that resonated more with my personal style. As my gaze wandered through the armory, my hands trembled slightly, and, almost by instinct, I withdrew a brown long gun, caked in dust, from a neglected rack.

This handgun felt weighty in my grasp, with a straight barrel that was both thick and elongated. The stock fit perfectly in my hand, measuring an impressive one hundred fifty centimeters; should the wielder desire, this fearsome weapon could easily be wielded as a club, making it a versatile tool for all ages.

When I flicked the gun's body, it emitted a muted sound, oddly reminiscent of wood. But what kind of wood could possess such density? It was heavier than any metal.

Miki observed my handling of the stained long gun and casually remarked, "This Huanglong Cannon is a failed creation of Senrog, crafted from a rare material known as Skystrike Wood found on the Yuan Yuan continent. It was initially intended to be a powerful psionic firearm, but due to a flaw in the production process, it frequently jams. Each time a jam occurs, the bullet fails to fire and explodes in the chamber, resulting in a recoil that increases tenfold, far beyond what any shooter's arm could withstand, leading to its abandonment here."

A bullet exploding in the chamber? This gun should have been reduced to dust long ago!

The strength of Skystrike Wood is its remarkable durability. Despite numerous explosions, it remains unscathed. Senrog had entrusted the construction of the Huanglong Cannon's components to a mysterious figure, and even he was unable to modify this weapon.

If not intended for combat, it stands as the highest-grade treasure in this armory. The Temporal Order Keeper's abilities continuously urged me to take the Huanglong Cannon. Although I was uncertain of its utility for me, the Keeper's foresight had never failed before, and I had no reason to doubt it this time.

I found the design of this gun quite appealing; it could serve as a splendid decorative piece. I casually stored the discarded firearm in my small weapon locker card, and Miki showed no inclination to stop me. With her arms crossed, she leisurely remarked, "The first lesson in shooting is selecting the right firearm and developing a feel for it. Having chosen your weapon, let me teach you the essential skill you must master upon acquiring a gun—Gun Drawing Technique!

Gun Drawing Technique? Is it akin to what Western cowboys favor?

In mere fractions of a second, from drawing the gun to firing it. I believed I had no issues with that.

Just as I was about to showcase my quick reflexes, a dark gun barrel was suddenly aimed at my forehead. Miki smiled faintly, clearly aware of my embarrassment and reluctance, and said, "Again!" Summoning all my dynamic vision, I desperately attempted to discern Miki's movements, but her speed was astonishing. In rapid succession, her gun pointed at my forehead seven times before I could even react.

The Gun Drawing Technique consists of a single standardized motion, universally acknowledged by all marksmen. This motion is the most refined, with the shortest draw distance, each step executed with utmost simplicity. Your hands are not as slow as you imagine; however, in the minutiae, there are at least three times more redundant movements, which hinders your ability to match my draw speed.

I understood. This lesson left me drenched in cold sweat; had Miki been an enemy, I would have perished countless times over, completely dispelling any underestimation of gunplay. Miki proved to be an exceptionally competent instructor, slowing down the steps of the Gun Drawing Technique for me to observe. After several repetitions, I quickly grasped the method.

The essence of the Gun Drawing Technique is to eliminate all superfluous movements, controlling every muscle to perfection. The smaller the draw motion, the better; speed must be paired with steadiness to ensure immediate firing upon target acquisition. I absorbed Miki's teachings on shooting techniques with remarkable speed.

Initially, I believed that with dynamic vision cards and perfect accuracy cards, I could wield any firearm effortlessly without much practice. However, through this learning experience, I realized that this skill, which I had foolishly deemed as merely pressing a trigger with a finger, harbors countless nuances worthy of study.

I lost track of how many times I practiced the draw, completely oblivious to the setting sun. It was Miki who finally spoke, "You have a great grasp of concepts; what you need now is merely practice. We will conclude today's lesson on Gun Drawing Technique here. Tomorrow, when you return, I will teach you about Concealment Techniques, Reloading, and Magazine Changes."

Miki lightly brushed the dust from her clothes, revealing a charming expression as she playfully stuck out her tongue before gracefully walking away.

I was so immersed in the atmosphere of learning that I failed to notice how swiftly time had passed; an entire day had slipped away unnoticed. It seemed not only my summer break was in jeopardy, but also my attendance in the new semester was at risk. Continuing down this path, I might not even have the chance to return home for university entrance exams!

After Miki departed, the second training ground lay empty and desolate. I had no desire to leave, so I sat at the entrance of the armory, gazing at the sunset and counting the clouds in the sky. The evening breeze caressed my cheeks, bringing forth a sense of freedom and relaxation that welled up within me.

Gone were the days of constant peril on Demon Island, where battles were fought daily, and the grueling studies at school, where I toiled through various subjects. This feeling was truly delightful."
