章節 14: Chapter-14 - Punishment and Countermeasures

After a night of sleep, Loya's injury from the previous night was almost healed.

He jumped up from the bed, pushed open the window, and stretched out in front of the rising sun.

"Ah... another beautiful day."

Suddenly, he heard a voice from below. He looked down to see a guy in a recruit's T-shirt brushing his teeth and shouting at him.

"Hey! Do you know that there are people living downstairs? It's been leaking all night!"

Loya turned his head and noticed that there was only a small amount of ice left in the ice coffin. Due to his injury, he had fallen asleep too quickly the previous night and hadn't removed the ice. The ice coffin had slowly melted, leaving the whole room covered in water stains.

"In the end, my life-saving ice ability melted away overnight."

"Sorry, sorry! I'll clean up the water now." Loya apologized to the other person while thinking. He then approached the ice and looked out the window to estimate the distance.

"Yo, this is the angle. Shoot hard!"

Ouch!

Huh~~~

About one cubic meter of ice flew out of the window, arcing through the air before crashing into the artificial lake in front of the dormitory, splashing water more than three meters high.

On the path beside the lake, recruits who were walking and eating breakfast got splashed by the sudden wave, soaking the food in their hands.

"Asshole!"

"Who did that?"

"Come out! I promise I won't kill you!"

"..."

"No, I caused trouble."

Hearing the angry shouts from the crowd by the lake, Loya shrank his head, quietly closed the window, and drew the curtains.

---

After greeting the recruits he was familiar with along the way, Loya arrived at the recruit camp.

Standing in line, the Major General's instructor appeared with a dark expression.

"Last night, there was a hailstorm in Malinford, centered around the recruit camp. Several houses were smashed! More than ten patrolling soldiers were injured! It even knocked out the goat of Marshal of the Warring States! Who did it?"

The recruits from the seventh team were stunned for a moment and then shouted in unison with schadenfreude, "Report, instructor! Loya did it!"

"Very good, Loya!"

"Yes!"

"Step forward!"

Standing outside the line, Loya was also confused.

"I'm going, I understand the smashed patrol, but why did it knock out the goat of the Warring States?"

He had forgotten that, to create a diversion last night, he had launched his second ice dragon's roar diagonally, and that direction happened to be toward the main body of the Malinford Fortress.

The Major General instructor walked up to Loya with a dark face and asked, "Did you do it?"

"Uh... Instructor, do you believe me when I say this was a misunderstanding?" Loya explained awkwardly, folding his hands.

---

The result of Loya's punishment came down very quickly. After consideration by Zefa, the chief instructor of the recruit battalion, and considering that Loya had just arrived in Malinford, the Warring States Marshal chose not to pursue the matter further. As a result, Loya received a lighter punishment.

He was sentenced to clean the toilets for one month and copy the safety regulations 1,000 times within the day.

In any case, the intensity of recruit training had little effect on Loya. They found him something to do so he wouldn't be idle and cause trouble. The Major General instructor understood this and didn't want Loya to participate in training; he just kicked him away to sweep the toilets.

Wearing an apron and holding a mop, Loya leaned against the toilet and sighed helplessly.

"I said it was a misunderstanding~"

The Major General officer who came to the toilet saw this scene and shouted with a dark face, "Don't try to be lazy! Go and clean the toilet!"

A nearby recruit snickered and deliberately covered his feet with mud before entering the toilet.

After walking in, he pretended to squeeze his throat.

"Oops, sorry Loya, I forgot you just cleaned this place."

"Yeah, I'm sorry! I'll be done right away~"

Looking at these apparently intentional guys, Loya didn't respond. Instead, he quietly tapped the floor with his toes to dissipate the cold air, and the wet ground immediately froze, forming a thin layer of ice.

The next second—

"Ouch!"

"Hey, don't pee on me!"

"Ah, sorry instructor! I didn't mean to!"

Hearing the lively commotion in the toilet, Loya proudly lifted the mop and went to the restroom on the next floor.

"Can I use this to develop a trick that makes people slip? I remember that Gray had such a trick in '300 Trolls.' Is it called Ice Carpet or Frozen Earth?"

---

Copying the safety regulations a thousand times was the easiest task for Loya. He first found dozens of pens and lined up rows of notebooks side by side. Then he used ice modeling magic to create a device similar to a sieve machine, placing each pen on it at intervals matching the books. By grabbing the pen at the front and putting it on the shelf, writing one word was equivalent to writing dozens of words.

Swish! He diligently wrote, completing the safety regulations of a few hundred words in just two hours.

Loya ran to deliver the book full of safety regulations to the instructor. The Major General instructor flipped through the book and said in disbelief, "What! You finished it so quickly?"

He remembered the last time he was punished for copying the safety regulations, and how he had been up until dawn... This felt like a slap in the face!

"Humph, of course! Who called me a genius?"

Although the instructor was skeptical, he couldn't determine how Loya had finished the transcription so quickly.

"Well, according to the agreement, you can rest after cleaning the toilet today."

"Yes, thank you, instructor."

After Loya left, the instructor brought the safety regulations written by Loya to Zefa.

Zefa took the book and was also surprised. "So fast? How long did it take him?"

The instructor replied helplessly, "Accurately, 1 hour and 47 minutes. I'm sure he cheated, but I can't find any clues."

Zefa nodded and flipped through the book. Suddenly, he picked up a copy he had read before, flipped it over, and then slammed his fist on the table, his face darkening. "Loya! This sneaky bastard!"

The instructor didn't know what happened and quickly asked, "Uh... General Zefa, what's going on?"

Taking a deep breath to calm down, Zefa pointed to the two notebooks and said, "Look carefully, here and here; there's a typo in these two places. After editing, even the line curvature is the same!"

The Major General instructor was not a fool. After Zefa's reminder, he immediately understood. "This bastard dares to cheat! I'll go find him!"

He also knew about Loya's freezing ability. As long as it was used well, it would not be a problem for him to copy dozens of books simultaneously.

"No need." Zefa stopped him and placed the notebooks next to them. "You didn't find the problem immediately, so he must have destroyed all the evidence. Without any water stains in that room, you can't punish him without evidence."

Speaking of this, Zefa couldn't help but smile. "This bastard is really, really interesting."

---

In a happy mood, Loya chewed on a meat bun and waved goodbye to his fellow recruits.

As soon as he walked out the door, he saw General Kuzan's figure.

He cleaned the meat off his hands, threw the bones in the trash can, and trotted over quickly.

"Mr. Kuzan, here I come."

Leaning against the wall, Kuzan, who had been sleeping with a blindfold covering his eyes, heard Loya's voice. He pushed up the blindfold and glanced at him sleepily.

"Oh, you're here. Let's go then~"

"Okay, Mr. Kuzan! Where are we going?"

"Don't call me 'teacher'! Freeze time!"
