章節 25: Fire ball!

Boom!

Aurora took a leap back, grabbing Alaric by the collar as she landed on the ground.

Alaric was so close to the snake biting off his legs that even he couldn't help but show a bit of fear.

The cave snake was about 9ft tall as it stood with its belly, slowly moving around its prey.

Just a bit from its sharp jaws would rip a person in two. Alaric was aware of this fact.

"Master. I know you have your pride and all, but I can't fight this monster and protect you at the same time," Aurora spoke, her eyes glued to the monster. "I beg you to please set your ego aside."

"It's not about ego. If you kill this monster here, it will mess with my work. I'm not letting some snake ruin two weeks of hard work," Alaric responded.

"You're seriously thinking about work right now?!"

The snake suddenly attacked Aurora again.

Using her strong hand, she grabbed its mouth, separating the lower part from the upper one.

The cave snake was strong, using its pure strength to try and push Aurora to the ground so it could digest her into its stomach.

But she was strong, managing to still stay in the tug of war.

Meanwhile...

'There has to be a place where we can battle something as big as this monster without causing any damage to the surrounding areas.'

Alaric thought to himself, looking around helplessly, in search of a solution.

[The carrier wishes to help you.]

'Well hurry up then!'

At this point, the snake had pushed Aurora's back to the wall. Just a bit more force and the wall should collapse to the ground.

[Luring the snake to the left path leads to a spring house. You can kill the snake in the water, and even if the walls are damaged, there are no minerals there and thus it wouldn't matter.]

'How do you know this?'

[The carrier has done its part.]

'I'll ask questions later. Firstly, I have to make this snake follow me before it causes this place to collapse!'

Alaric thought of an idea.

He took his fingers, gesturing it as a pistol gun.

"Fireeeee balllllll!!!"

He shot out about three powerful fire blasts at the snake monster.

The attack was powerful enough to cause the snake to hit its head on the ground.

Aurora was surprised.

"Aurora! You can tail it fr-"

Before Alaric could say a word, the snake moved in the blink of an eye.

Not even Aurora could follow up.

The snake bit Alaric on the arm.

"Ahhhh!" Alaric cried in pain as the snake kept dragging him around the place.

Luckily for him, the snake was headed toward the direction he wanted.

"Master!" Aurora could only scream.

The snake's speed had suddenly increased, moving faster than she could keep up with.

She was about to take to her heels when Ava suddenly showed up.

"GIVE HIM BACK!!!"

Like a flash, Ava sped past Aurora and was now tailing the snake.

Being a diamond-rank knight, her speed was only one of the many extraordinary attributes she had.

There was no doubt she would be able to kill the snake. And yet, as she spotted her master, instead of meeting a man in fear, she was met with him giving her a disgusted expression.

(Are you alright? Please hold still. I'll come save you now.)

Ava's expression spoke to Alaric.

(I don't need your help, Goldilocks. If you do anything to my mining ground, you'll pay with generational slavery.)

Alaric's disgusted expression also spoke.

(You don't want me to save you?)

(Just make sure it keeps heading to this path. Don't attack it.)

Ava was confused. But she knew better than to doubt him. At least not now.

So she obeyed and began to race behind the monster, using her form to direct it to the right path.

Finally, they arrived at the underground lake the system told him about.

The place was spacious, enough for two giants to battle for as long as they wanted.

"Ava!!!" Alaric called out.

"Right!" Ava unsheathed her blade, embedding it with a huge rush of mana.

—Slash!

She sent a slice of the energy toward the snake, cutting it at the side of its stomach.

A huge roar could be heard before it released its hold on Alaric's arm.

Right after Alaric fell to the ground, the snake accidentally whacked Ava with its tail, sending her flying a great distance away.

Her eyes went shut upon impact, which only meant she was unconscious.

All that was left was Alaric and a screaming snake.

He panted, gripping his left hand that was almost falling off. His endurance skill was the only thing keeping him sane from the horrendous pain he should be feeling.

Alaric looked up at the snake.

The moment felt familiar to when he once thought he was going to die, after he and his friends from his former world encountered a wild beast on their trip.

'Honestly, this is why I hate socializing. Even a giant snake wants a part of it.'

Alaric raised one hand, flames already dancing around it.

"Fuck it. Come at me."

The snake did just that and began to speed towards Alaric.

"Fire ball!"

Alaric spammed his skill on the snake.

He was slammed to the wall, legs bitten, body smashed to the ground.

And yet—

"Fire ball!"

"Fire ball!"

"Fire ball!"

Alaric did not stop using the one attack he knew how to.

One could already see the snake was getting weakened with each attack—the only question was how long Alaric was going to hold out.

He fell to his knees, his hand still stretched toward the snake.

The snake knew Alaric was quick and viewed it as a chance to deliver the final blow.

It curled itself around Alaric, squeezing him to the point you could almost hear his bones crack.

With that done, the snake opened its mouth, ready to swallow Alaric into its giant monster mouth.
