#The ugly drama behind the scenes, the unknown side of a film crew#
The account name for the poster was Verity and was not a random throwaway account but a trustworthy reporting account that has been in existence for more than ten years. It specializes in revealing the dirtiest secrets of the entertainment circle. Of course, there might be some falsehoods in their posts but people like gossip and this account had the same amount of followers as some small-time stars.
The account was trending in the searches and its hashtag was being reposted constantly. Wen Jiexi bit her lip anxiously as she read the post:
OP (Original Poster): The sentence above is the truth, I have pictures as proof.
This is a set of photos that were sent to me by accident. I investigated the matter behind the photos and found that all of it was true. This is what happens to small-time artists among a large crew….
Then they proceeded to write about their personal opinions and then attached several photos with a caption for each one. Although the people in the photos were blurred out, the background images were quite clear. The first picture was when Ye Xinxin had passed out during the shooting of the last scene. Whether it was intentional or not, the protagonist was Ye Xinxin and several people with their backs to her as they stood around her. It was when they were discussing the problem with the swords but from this angle, it looked like they were crew members that didn't care about the well-being of their artists.
The second picture was of a girl being locked in a room while she was screaming. The caption was incriminating: The crew is actually imprisoning artists? From what I can see it seems that they don't care about an artist's freedom or life! This is a crime! I think this crew believes that just because they have a strong backer, they can be so lawless.
One by one, similar photos that seemingly revealed the crew's inhumanity were revealed and the one and only victim was Ye Xinxin.
The comments below were in a frenzy:
Comment #1: Hey, hey, hey, this is too much, right? Do artists not have rights either? Who let you guys do this?! To engage in imprisonment and abuse and then ignore it…tsk, tsk, who will dare film with this crew ever again?
Comment #2: According to inside information, this crew seems to be under the ownership of Xingle. I think their film is called: "The Immortal meets the Demon"? It's a Xianxia drama. Alas, they are like a behemoth to us civilians, we cannot afford to offend them and can only suffer silently.
Comment #3: What kind of nonsense is this, how can a big company do this? I will boycott this drama! This old man will not watch it!
Comment #4: I agree with the comment above. How could a film produced by such a blackhearted crew be any good?
These one-sided comments spread across the entire internet and even Xingle's official Weibo was full of the same scolding comments but the company made no response.
"Why isn't the company responding? If they continue to scold us, the crew won't be able to continue shooting." Wen Jiexi frowned as she read the comments. Many people have already made plans to visit the shooting site and protest.
"Relax, this is more or less just trolls who have been bought and paid to write comments like these. So what if these pictures are real? First, the person who sent the pictures is liable to be sued for violating terms of the agreement and sending out these pictures to the media. Second, the public are not idiots. Most of the people in the photos are in costumes and so one can tell these people were just acting. The credibility is not high and it's just a bunch of people talking about it for fun." Su Chenyu explained while at the same time she sent a text message to Wen Linshu who replied back,
"Everything's fine, I will take care of it. Tell Little Xi not to panic and to do nothing."
"Understood."
"It's like Goddess Su said, the netizens aren't stupid." Li Lingemgn pointed at a few comments.
Comment #78: They're filming a drama and they're obviously acting. Look at their clothes! You must be drunk if you think we can be twisted into your thinking.
Comment #92: I really don't understand why so many people are just going along with this? Although this account is a famous one, that doesn't mean everything they say is real. These people are minding their own business and hard at work filming, how can you say such things about them?
There were a lot more but they were drowned out by the overwhelming majority and it was easy for people to swipe right past them.
"Many of these comments are probably from other companies. Xingle has attracted a lot of enemies." Su Chenyu explained,
"The best thing to do now is to stay silent. When the investigation's results are revealed, the company will fight back. The situation is intense now, but the more intense the more popular the film. This is just free publicity for us. Usually, a small crew like this wouldn't be able to do this. You two can just focus on shooting the film and disregard all this. I believe this fire will burn for a while and even if it dies down, the company will douse it with oil again."
"There's even this kind of manipulation?" Li Lingmeng was stunned.
"Of course. You should ask Yunxi for a more detailed explanation. Sometimes having dirty water poured on yourself is not a failure for as long as you can fight back, the flames will burn brighter. This trick is a common move in the industry. As long as you understand that, then wait for this film to finish shooting. The ratings for this drama will definitely not be low." Grabbing a strip of beef jerky, Su Chenyu started eating.
Knock. Knock.
There was knocking at the door again but this time it was LIn Yunxi and Xue Molin who came in with trays full of food.
"Come, come, let's eat!" Lin Yunxi yelled as soon as she entitled and patted her chest,
"I don't believe you have eaten yet so I personally grabbed some food from downstairs when I saw Lingmeng rush to your room."
"Thank you, Sister Lin and Sister Xue!" Wen Jiexi looked excitedly at the food. Her stomach was rumbling, she was in urgent need to supplement her lost calories.
"Hurry up and come eat. If you wait any longer, there'll be no more food left downstairs." Xue Molin said with a wave of her hand and sat at the edge of Wen Jiexi's bed with her arms crossed. She watched them eat and then looked at her phone, her face changing from bright to dark. Even without looking, one could tell she was reading Weibo.
"I believe you already know what happened. Rest assured, the company will take full responsibility "
"However, I saw someone dug out that the protagonist of the photos was Guanghua's Ye Xinxin. Won't this cause a confrontation between the two major companies?" Li Lingmeng asked worriedly. She flipped her phone around to show everyone the article listed on her screen. In the article, it clearly stated all the names of the crew members. Almost everything about their lives was revealed and Director Xie had it the worst as even her address was revealed to the public. The actors and actresses were not harmed as they hadn't done anything so their accounts and information were not hacked.
"The company is waiting for Guanghua to respond first. To be honest, we don't think that Guanghua will want to intervene in this matter. After all, it is not worth it to put everything on the line to fight for a newcomer. Even if she is labeled as the victim right now, her acting is average, her personality is horrible and she is difficult to deal with. However, if Ye Xinxin posts on her account that all of these things are true, Guanghua will have no option but to come out and stand up for her." Lin Yunxi analyzed.
"When two big companies battle it out, the attention to this news will double. When the investigation is confirmed, we will be the ones who will receive all the benefits. Now, it is up to Ye Xinxin to nail the final blow. Although from what I know of her character, she will definitely jump out and cause a scene when she sees that the public is 'supporting' her. She might rely on the netizens to force Xingle to compromise by coming out and apologizing. This matter will then end quickly. Well, a newcomer is still a newcomer, too tender and naive." Xue Molin said mockingly as she played with her hair.
"Oh…but wouldn't the company come under siege? Wen Jiexi wiped her mouth and asked.
"There will be reporters and journalists who will write scathing articles, but how many of those photos are real and how many of the comments are fake ones bought out by companies? It is unlikely they will attack the company directly. As for when Ye Xinxin wants to issue a statement, I guess it should be when she thinks that there are the most people, that is around twelve o'clock." Lin Yunxi guessed as she rubbed her chin.
"Ah, anyhow, let's just sit back and enjoy the show. Wash up and get a good night's sleep, we still have filming to do tomorrow. The investigation team will leave some people behind to investigate things with the police and everyone else will continue working. Otherwise, we'll be unable to catch up as we are already behind schedule. Let's sleep instead of worrying. After all this, I think I've aged a few years." Xue Molin patted her cheek and then walked out.
"Then let's go too. Little Su, Jiexi, have a good rest. Contact me if you need anything!" Lin Yuxi said while dragging Li Lingmeng out the door with her.
"Ah, Little Xi, the director wanted me to tell you that because of today's matter you'll get a day off tomorrow." As soon as Li Lingmeng's words left her mouth, the door closed.
Wen Jiexi watched as the three people who had rushed in left just as quickly. She didn't know whether to laugh or cry.
"Congratulations on getting a day off." Su Chenyu said.
"Ahahaha, I'm just lucky." Wen Jiexi scratched her head sheepishly and smiled. With this sudden vacation thrust upon her, she can finally finish her missions!
"Since it's a day off, you should get some good rest and not do unnecessary things." Su Chenyu's words seemed to indicate she had seen through Wen Jiexi's thoughts.
"I-I understand." Wen Jiexi shrank back and bowed her head.
Su Chenyu patted Wen Jiexi's head helplessly,
"Just do things in moderation."
"Ok!"
The next day….
When she opened her eyes, Wen Jiexi discovered the bed next to her was empty and the sun was shining high up in the sky.
"Whoa….so late….I actually woke up so late today…." Wen Jiexi rolled onto her face and muttered. Currently, she was lying directly on the spot Su Chenyu was lying on yesterday and there were still some of the sweet fragrance left behind on the sheets...oooh…I want to lie here forever!
However, as someone who believed that wasted time was the same as wasted opportunities, she could only shake her head and jump out of the bed. It was nine in the morning according to the clock beside her, but it was much later than when she usually woke up.
"Dango, why didn't you wake me up?" Wen Jiexi looked to the side and at the little ghost who was basking in the sunlight coming from the windows. Does a ghost need to bask in the sun? Won't they ascend to heaven if they do that?
"Aiya~ That's because even when I scream louder than a human dying you won't wake up!" Dango spread its arms helplessly and looked at Wen Jiexi with eyes brimming with longing for something.
"Oh, really?" Wen Jiexi opened the system's shop and bought a bag of chips that she then threw at Dango.
"Yay! Thank you, Jiexi!" Dango cheered happily.
In the bath last night, Wen Jiexi had browsed through the system's shop again and accidentally came across a bag of potato chips. Without thinking, she bought a bag and gave it to Dango. She never expected that not only could Dango touch the food, but the little ghost can actually eat it! With this, Dango was happy beyond belief! Now the little ghost begged often and hoped to get more food.
"After you finish eating make sure to throw it away. Otherwise, there will be too much garbage I can't explain away." Wen Jiexi said as she patted Dango on the head
Su Chenyu may not be able to see Dango, but that didn't mean she couldn't see a bag of potato chips and especially if a said bag of chips was floating in the air. And then those chips are thrown in a certain direction(Dango's mouth) and then disappear. It was like something straight out of a horror movie. From what Wen Jiexi could tell, the potato chips just 'dissolved' when they entered Dango's mouth. It was an amazing phenomenon that she wished she could study in length.
After Wen Jiexi came out from the shower, she saw Dango pat its 'full' belly, not that much different than its usual belly shape, in content.
She sat on the bed and turned on her phone, looking at the latest news. Sure enough, the posting from yesterday soared in popularity and the number of reposts exceeded 100,000. The reason for this was because Ye Xinxin had finally published something on her Weibo.
Ye Xinxin (V): Hello everyone, my name is Ye Xinxin, the one who is being abused by the crew. Do you think that the photos are fake? I'm here to say that it is all true. I was so miserable that I didn't want to continue filming. However, I had signed a contract with the crew and if I break it, I can't pay the fee…
Then below it was a lot of tear-stained selfies. This made her seem more pitiful and eye-catching which caused all sorts of comments to fly across the screen. From words of comfort to curses directed at the film crew, there was a little bit of everything.
Seeing as how this Weibo was popular beyond belief, Ye Xinxin must have had fun all night, laughing to herself as she waited for Xingle to give her a 'fair' compensation. However, this was just a funny joke. Xingle is a major company that has been established for decades. They were not afraid of such a small threat. This 'intimidation' would only help Xingle's case later. The evidence was on Xingle's side so who cared about the public's support? Everything depended on which side laughed last when everything came out.
And Guanghua company could not sit back and watch anymore after their artist personally made a statement. Many people have already accused Guanghua of being negligent and not doing anything to help their artists. Isn't Guanghua as big as Xingle? Why doesn't it fight for their newcomer? Or is it that just like Xingle, they consider a newcomer as not human and her rights should not be prioritized?
After Ye Xinxin came out and said all that, even more rumors spread about Guanghua. Although Guanghua is a major company, it's artists and resources are naturally not as good as Xingle. If this inaction on their part caused promising artists to turn away from their company, it would not be good for them. Although they understood a little bit of what happened after their own investigation, and they knew who was in the right. And so like a pig teammate in an MMORPG party, they were being dragged down into the water with them. Although Guanghua wasn't exactly suffocating, they were in a depressing situation.
However, even if Guanghua didn't say anything, many of their artists have posted their support and especially the two-faced Zhong Liwen.
Zhong Liwen (V): I do not believe Ye Xinxin is a bad child. I have always treated her like a sister! And so, there should be no excuse for how she is being mistreated now. I hope Xingle can give us a proper explanation and compensate Xinxin fairly for this incident as it likely left a scar on such a young girl. I hope this situation will be handled properly.
Comment #1: My Little Zhong is really the most warmhearted!
Comment #2: That's right, that's right! Hmph, so what if Xingle is a big company? So many people have come out to speak against them and they still haven't said a thing!
Comment #3: To the poster above: maybe the people haven't responded because they are already preparing a press conference.
Comment #4: What press conference? Get the crew to come out and apologize first! Hmph! I am so distressed that my Little Zhong has to work under such garbage and a blackhearted crew! In the name of Xingle, they actually bullied her sister! Although I don't know who this Ye Xinxin is since she is Little Zhong's sister she is everyone's sister!
Comment #5: Yes! Yes! Stand up for Little Zhong! Rise up against Xingle!
The replies below were in the tens of thousands, and the attention can be said to have skyrocketed by as much as 200,000 reposts and was still growing. Other artists also gained a lot of popularity, but were they just doing this to gain fame? It wasn't a bad idea. Wen Jiexi read everything with raised eyebrows before turning off her phone. Since Sister Xue and Sister Su said she shouldn't care, it was better to leave this to the company. She didn't want to get caught in the crossfire and make things more complicated than it is.
"Dango, let's go downstairs and eat." Wen Jiexi called and then opened the door.
"Coming!"
Most of the cast and crew were out by now and although she didn't know if anyone was still in their rooms, the corridors were certainly empty. Occasionally, a person or two passed by.
However, when she turned the corner, what she saw caused her to raise her eyebrows. A person with red and swollen eyes was standing there. It was Zhong Liwen. She wanted to bypass the troublesome person but Zhong Liwen unexpectedly stepped in front of her when she saw Wen Jiexi.
"Is there something the matter, Miss Zhong?" Wen Jiexi smiled but a cold light flashed in her eyes. At the same time, she pressed the record button of the recorder she had bought offhandedly from the system's shop. She had prepared one just in case, carrying it in her pockets after the mishap on set. She didn't want to cause trouble but the other party certainly did and so she had to take the necessary precaution.
Dango, go and see if there are any other people nearby or if there are any cameras, recording devices, etc. I believe she has some bad intentions.
"Jiexi, Xinxin really didn't do anything. Her temperament is kind and she is a nice girl. It's good that you are awake. Please talk to the police for her. If such an unwarranted crime caused this young girl to be convicted, she will be ruined for life." As Zhong Liwen finished, she started sobbing, her head bowed as she wiped her tears and appeared as a pitiful damsel in distress.
"Miss Zhong, this is not something I have a day in. Everyone agrees there was a problem with props and it was even caught on camera. Moreover, the last sword was in Ye Xinxin's hand and she obviously stabbed towards me with malicious intent…" Wen Jiexi pointed at herself,
"You say that she is a kind-hearted child but how can she stab at someone with a real weapon? Especially at an angle that the camera couldn't see? If I hadn't dodged, then I might've died or at least been paralyzed from a serious injury. Has she really not done anything? Miss Zhong?" The smile on Wen Jiexi's face disappeared and she stared directly into Zhong Liwen's eyes.
"But you're clearly unharmed…." Zhong Liwen was shocked by Wen Jiexi's sudden cold eyes and took a small step back as she let those words slip out of her mouth.
"It's very strange, Miss Zhong, that if you have to wait for someone to be injured before you consider it a bad thing. Then let's say someone tried to murder another by hitting them with a car but missed. However, even if no one was hurt they were arrested. It's impossible that the person is innocent. Even a three-year-old understand this, right?"
"You…."
"Besides, if you dare to act then you must also dare to accept the consequences. I do not think that Ye Xinxin did this alone. With her temperament, she is like you said, Miss Zhong, too impulsive. I understand this so I don't think that with her qualifications she can accomplish what she did. With her status, she should be unable to get something like a real sword on set. That means someone is helping her. As for who this person is, I believe people have some idea who it is." Wen Jiexi watched as Zhong Liwen's expression changed and smiled coldly,
"To tell you the truth, I don't hate Ye Xinxin. Although her personality is impulsive, she is not a person who should be unable to make friends but unfortunately was led by the wrong person since the beginning…" Wen Jiexi leaned forward and whispered close to Zhong Liwen's ear. She deliberately lowered her voice to a point that the recorder couldn't pick it up,
"Am I correct? As someone who always uses others as her own personal weapons, I'm sure you understand, Miss Zhong Liwen. Well, I wonder what Ye Xinxin's expression would look like when she finds out about your true self."
"What do you mean by this? I can sue you for slandering me like this." A flash of panic appeared in Zhong Liwen's eyes but her words came out sharp and pointed. At the same time, she calculated quickly in her heart. This bit*h is under Xue Molin and she is also cozy with Su Chenyu…yes, it makes sense for her to know things that ordinary people usually don't know. However, does that mean she has been exposed? Xingle hasn't said anything yet, then are they trying to blow this out of proportions? No, I finally made it this far, how can I be dragged down by this little matter?
"Sue me? I think Miss Zhong might've misunderstood something. I was just stating the facts. I believe the truth will be revealed soon so then we will see if this is slandering or not." Wen Jiexi looked at the clock on the wall.
"Ah, I should leave now. I haven't eaten breakfast yet. Miss Zhong, I hope we can meet up again after this incident." Wen Jiexi moved past Zhong Liwen and left.
Damn this devil-girl…. Zhong Liwen watched Wen Jiexi leave with eyes full of hatred. However, she seemed to have thought of something as her face lit up with a strange smile. She walked over to one of the rooms and unhooked a camera from the door of the room. A camera that could fit in her palm.
"This is what you forced me to do….and they say that he who attacks first has the most advantage…."
"Jiexi, she had a camera installed near you! I think you were photographed just now!" Dango flew over to Wen Jiexi and waved its fists in anger,
"That nasty woman is going to cause trouble again! Jiexi, what should we do?"
Let's tell Sister Xue about our encounter with Zhong Liwen just now. Wen Jiexi picked up her phone and started dialing. After a while, the call was finally put through.
"Hello? Hurry up if you have anything to say….I'll beat you up if it's nothing….you actually dare to disturb this old lady's sleep…." Xue Molin's tired voice came from the other end. She seemed to have woken up and seemed to be in a drowsy state,
"Sister Xue, this is Jiexi. I of course have something important to say, otherwise, why would I bother you?"
"Ha…then..spit…spit it out." Xue Molin yawned lazily. After making sure Xue Molin was sober and wouldn't mistake this as a dream, Wen Jiexi started to speak,
"Sister Xue, when I was going down the stairs just now I was blocked by Zhong Liwen. I have a bad feeling…."
