章節 2: Chapter 1: A little ghost foodie has appeared?!
"WHAA-!" The moment Wen Jiexi opened her eyes, a pair of widened blue eyes were staring down at her, causing her to scream instantly.
"GAHH-!" The owner of that pair of blue eyes also screamed when Wen Jiexi screamed.
"W-Who…What are you?!" Wen Jiexi quickly crawled backwards on her hands and saw that it was …eh …a kawaii little ghost, one that you could fit into your palms. There were only eyes, no mouth, but its tiny, short hands were waving up and down. If she saw something like this on the internet then it would've been cute, but when a 3-D version was right in front of you, it wasn't as funny!
"Yo, my contractor, you've finally awakened!" The little ghost greeted Wen Jiexi with its chubby arms.
"You…what are you?" Before Wen Jiexi could finish speaking, the door banged open, and a woman rushed in. From a glance, one could tell that the woman had maintained their beauty despite their age, their facial features were still refined and youthful. However, currently, the beautiful woman's face was twisted with anxiety and worry.
"Little Xi, is something wrong? Did something happen?" Tan Yashi urgently asked her daughter as she looked around her daughter's room with alert eyes.
"Um..this…" From Tan Yashi's reaction, Wen Jiexi was shocked her mother couldn't see the little ghost floating in front of her. Could it be that only she could see it? What is going on? However, the only one who could explain everything was this little ghost in front of her! Thinking like this, Wen Jiexi, hurriedly smiled at Tan Yashi,
"Mom, everything if fine. It's just that some things fell and I was scared by the sound."
"Is that so? Ok…then. Little Xi you're body is fragile, you must rest well. It's quite rare to get some vacation time, so you stay here and rest up, mother will call you when it's time to eat." "Me? I'm not a 'thing', I'm a little ghost! But you can call me Lord Little Ghost!" Little Ghost tilted its head and then raised their chin proudly.
Wen Jiexi: "….."
Wen Jiexi was speechless. Little Ghost? Such a simple name and a simple answer, what was the point of asking in the first place?
"Haah…you humans are so troublesome!" The little ghost seemed to understand why Wen Jiexi was speechless and floated over to lay on Wen Jiexi's bed.
"How to explain…to put it simply, I'm what you humans refer to as a system."
"System?" Wen Jiexi looked at Little Ghost with suspicion, disbelief obvious in her voice. Wen Jiexi's poor health caused her to stay at home most of the time, which can get very boring over time. So she could only pass the time by surfing the internet and reading novels. Naturally, the word "system" was no stranger to her….
However! Does a thing like the system truly exist in this world? No, absolutely not! Yet now this little ghost is claims it's such a system? Even scams wouldn't come up with such a lie!
"Hey, hey, I called myself a system so you can understand better, don't compare me with those systems from your novels! You humans are really troublesome!" Little Ghost humphed.
The Wen Jiexi who was called a troublesome human: "….."
Oh then I'm really sorry..W-wait!
"Huh? How do you know what I'm thinking?" Wen Jiexi frowned. Can this thing actually read the thoughts in her heart?
"Of course it's because I'm contracted to you! Rest assured, other than the thoughts that have to deal with the details of the contract, I won't be able to see your other thoughts!" Little Ghost explained.
Wen Jiexi let out a breath of relief. Having someone be able to read all your thoughts would have been really troubling, but now she knew that she can at least have some form of privacy. Then she asked in amazement,
"Are you bound to me?"
"Not exactly bound, it's closer to say that I'm contracted with you. I fulfill your wishes and you complete missions to provide me with energy. Once I have gained enough energy, the contract is finished and I can become human." Little Ghost floated upwards.
"Become human?"
"Yes, I want to become human and get a real body. In my current from, I'm like an actual ghost, no one can see me and it gets really boring. Plus, you humans have a lot of delicious food to eat, you think it's easy to watch you humans enjoy things that I can't?" Little Ghost complained.
Uh…aren't you just a ghost then? And your purpose to become a human is to eat! However, Wen Jiexi thought about it and realized food really is tasty! It was pitiful to watch but can't touch or eat! (protagonist has forgotten that they can eat food ←←)
"Ok~now that I have fulfilled your wish, it's time for you to complete some missions and give me energy!" Little Ghost circled around her head, its words revealing their excitement.
"Fulfilled my wish? But I haven't even made a wish yet!" Wen Jiexi's eyes widened.
"Hey, hey! Haven't you always wanted a healthy body? Not only did I grant you a healthy body, I also gave you some divine power! I could've only given you one or the other, but I was kind enough to give you both and yet you refuse to admit it!" Little Ghost snorted angrily and their white body started turning pink and smoke poured out of it's head. It looked like it was really mad.
This..its' emotions are quite vivid…the corners of Wen Jiexi's mouth twitch, however her brain quickly focused on the main point,
"You gave me a healthy body?" Wen Jiexi looked down at her hands, then grabbed her bedside mirror. Sure enough, her skin was no longer that sickly pale color, instead it had a healthy shine to it. Even her cheeks had a rosy color! One must understand that for all her life, Wen Jiexi was raised like she was living inside a medicine jar, so her skin has always been pale through and through. There was never a moment where she was healthy!
Wen Jiexi still felt like it was quite unbelievable, so she stood up, walked around, and even jumped up a few times. She didn't feel tired or exhausted, but rather full of boundless energy instead!
"How is it? Are you happy?" Little Ghost asked smugly.
"What do I have to do in return?" Wen Jiexi walked into the bathroom, wanting to wash up, and stopped by the big mirror to look more closely at her newly transformed body. All the while, Little Ghost floated over her head.
"I don't know~All missions appear suddenly and I'm only responsible for reporting them to you and overseeing the completion of them. However, rest assured, all missions will be within your ability." Little Ghost waved its hands.
…in other words, neither of them had a say in the missions?
"What if I don't want to or can't complete the missions?" To be on the safe side, Wen Jiexi felt it was better to ask for a clarification.
"Can't complete?" Little Ghost tilted its head,…. although there was no neck connecting the head to the body, but Wen Jiexi could still tell what it was doing. It looked puzzled by Wen Jiexi's question,
"Well…then you'll become a female King Kong. Furthermore, you'll go back to being a sick and weak person like you were before."
Ha? A female…King Kong? How can there be a sick and weak female King Kong? Wen Jiexi wiped her face with a towel.
Maybe because it saw through Wen Jiexi's doubts, it blinked twice and decided to give a demonstration, and it waved its arms,
"Like this." Just like what Little Ghost said, the image slowly appearing before Wen Jiexi's eyes.
"Pu!" Wen Jiexi looked at the reflection in front of her and promptly spit out a mouthful of water.
Has anyone seen a super saiyan [1] before? At this moment, a female version of a super saiyan appeared before her! It had a muscular body, was two meters tall, and even her face was clearly chiseled?!! And the chest, the chest! It wasn't a chest but just pectoral muscles!
But the most frightening thing about this female version was that the skin was morbidly white, as pale as her previous body! It was hard to explain dissonance she felt between that chiseled body and that unhealthy white, however, this contrast was definitely not gap moe[2] at all!!
A girl would be scared to death and a man would have nightmares for days! Who would dare to go outside looking like this? Who would dare to even look at themselves in the mirror!
"Cough…p-please make it go away." Wen Jiexi shuddered at the thought of becoming a female super saiyan, it was just terrible, too scary to even think about! At the same time, she vowed to herself that she would finish every mission flawlessly! If she failed, it would be better to smash her head against a wall and bleed to death then look like that!

Why would I count on a ghost for help!?? Wen Jiexi rubbed her forehead and then spit out two words,
"Jiexi."
"Huh?" Little Ghost blinked in confusion.
"Call me Jiexi, don't call me 'host' or whatever, it's very uncomfortable." Wen Jiexi explained.
"Ooh! Jiexi! Jiexi! Ok, Jiexi let's talk." Little Ghost chanted happily for a few moments but quickly turned serious again.
"En? Did…a mission arrive?" Wen Jiexi was unfamiliar with this Little Ghost who got serious all of a sudden, could it be because a mission had arrived?
"No, no, no..I, ahem…Jiexi…" The little ghost patted its billowing belly, and stopped talking.
"If you want to say something, then just say it." Seeing Little Ghost's expression, Wen Jiexi felt anxious and stopped combing her hair to look at Little Ghost.
"Hu…" Taking a deep breath, and looking like it was determined to do something, Little Ghost shouted under Wen Jiexi's focused gaze,
"Please choose a name for me!"
"…." The always good tempered Wen Jiexi, wanted to punch someone, how to break this line of thoughts?
Give me back my anxiety, you as*hole! Taking a deep breath, Wen Jiexi asked,
"I thought your name was Little Ghost?"
"Of course not, I only called myself that when I was created because I thought I looked like one. So that's how I introduced myself and my previous irresponsible host just went along with it!" Little Ghost said with tears in its eyes.
"…."
If you didn't say anything, how would they know you didn't like it!? Wen Jiexi rubbed her forehead, but hesitated a bit as she said the name she thought of,
"…Dango?" [3]
"Dango? You mean that soft, white, delicious looking thing?! Yeah, I like that name!!"
Food? And whether or not it's delicious? Is this how you base your standards for a name?! Wen Jiexi didn't even want to think about it anymore.
Knock, Knock…
Knocks sounded on the door and Tan Yashi's voice could be heard,
"Little Xi, it's time for breakfast!"
"Ok, mom, I got it." Wen Jiexi replied.
"Oooh! Time to eat! Time to eat!" Little Ghost, no, now renamed Dango dangled its arms excitedly.
"Isn't it impossible for you to eat? Why are you so happy?" Wen Jiexi picked up a hair band and tied her long hair into a ponytail.
"Because of the connection with the host, I can specifically enhance your sense of taste and then I can taste the food as well! Hoo-hoo-ho, I'm so excited! I wonder what's for breakfast~" Dango flew downstairs and didn't see Wen Jiexi whose expression turned dark.
….now I want to ask …what its standards are when choosing a host?!
